Just going to mention any texture problems I spot as I come across them.

“GOLO FLAKE”

Somebody involved in the textures really phoned this one in:

Original..

Remastered…

They not only got the name of the product wrong, they didn’t even bother to upscale the sparkles in the bottle hmmm

They couldnt even update the bread texture it still a slur of orange and brown no detail whatsoever.  Few other items looks like they didnt remake em to look more like they should either.

Yes. The bread, the deflated balloons, the brass key, etc. I’ve spotted them, too.

The ticket stub printing machine hasn’t been touched at all… Exactly the same as the original. Oh well.

Nope. Unless you’re seeing something different to me:

pressing backspace gets u the original here.  Very similar just artifacts fixed up and less jaggered edges on the model.  As said looks crap just smoothed and fixed artifacts somewhat.

Btw how come your original pictures arnt as jaggied as mine are im running on pc at 1080p the gog version.  When i go to original mode with backspace the inventory hands on the left is jaggied and the textures are pixelated same as the bottle of gold flakes.  Yours is much smoother and closer to the remastered.  Weird but id like to know how as in are you on pc if so what res etc.

It was taken using ResivualVM running Hardware Acceleration (anti-aliasing, etc.).

Also, you’re getting confused. It’s the same texture just rendered differently. Here’s how the ticket machine looks in ResidualVM:

The higher fidelity of the graphics now reveals a minor mistake. The key you get from Nick Virago use the same texture as his cigarette case… Given that it’s actually for the lighthouse, it makes no sense (to me, at least) that he’d have his initials engraved on it.

Ok well i dunno how yours is better in the ResivualVMone but go in game on the remastered and press backspace when lookin at it and you will see a older one then press backspace to see the new one, as seen it is the same texture just smoothed and the artifacts fixed.  Dont use ResivualVM to compare between old and new use the ingame old and new.  Then you will see what i was getting at.  But yeah they should have made it look nicer if they were going to the trouble of fixing the old up.

The original game had two ways to render everything: Software and hardware. The “original” mode in Remastered mimics the most basic “software” rendering, which is what a lot of people would have seen at the time, but many of us had the ability to see the more advanced “hardware” rendering—which is what ResidualVM can show us—although we didn’t have much anti-aliasing back then, either, so it would have looked more jaggy than RVM.

The point is actually to prove to your that the original texture has been barely altered. (Trust me.)

It’s not the end of the world, of course, and most people might not even notice it, but I’m trying to get every bug I can find into DF’s database while work is still being done on the game. If this does happen to get upgraded, that’s great. If not, I’ll probably do it myself later.

Also, FWIW, some of the retexturing, especially on inventory items, has been great.

Getting back on track, although it’s probably the last thing that’s going to be looked at:
