Yesterday’s Dark Souls 2 patch added a new boss, new ending

Friday, 6 February 2015 10:36 GMT By Sherif Saed

Dark Souls 2 received a patch yesterday on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. The patch added more than we were previously told.

dark_souls_2

Before you go on any further, know that the ending of Dark Souls 2 along with some characters and boss encounters will be spoiled ahead, so tread carefully.

The February patch to the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 version of Dark Souls 2 was released yesterday, right on schedule. There is however more to it than the new ring and enemy placement changes.

There are two major new additions. The first is a new boss, in the form of Scholar of the First Sin, who’s actually lord Aldia. After you descend into the room where The Throne of Want lies, and after you defeat queen Nashandra, you will have to fight Aldia, who’ll now become the final boss.

Aldia will only appear as a final boss if you meet him at the Dragon Shrine and answer ‘yes’ to his questions.

If you remember, after defeating Nashandra, the only option you had was to sit on the throne. Now, there is a new choice, to leave the throne room. There is a new cutscene that follows as well.

Watch YouTuber Aegon of Astora defeat Aldia and trigger the new ending.

Thanks, Eurogamer.
