How do you like your content? Printed in black and white with a side of bacon and toast? Through your earbuds on a podcast? Skimming through social media while waiting in line or catching a quick glance at YouTube while at your desk? Perhaps you prefer flipping through the channels — on live TV or online streaming.
These days, consumers have options, and they’re taking charge. In the past, it’s been all about marketers and brands showing off and keeping up with what competitors are doing to wow users, but with multi-faceted experiences, brands must tailor content to a broad range of user preferences.
In 2015, we expect to see moments of realization in the consumer choice–driven digital landscape. From getting to know “Dr Data” and the big players in fashion to investigating tech politics and the anti-tech movement, it’s not just one industry that’s being propelled to empower users to “choose their own content.”
“It’s very clear that the ability for people to choose their own style of content is going have a huge impact on our industry next year,” says Alex MacLaverty, the UK Group MD of Hotwire.
The coming months will undoubtedly push companies to reach audiences in new ways, but it’s not just tech companies and news outlets that will see a shift. There’s a lot to cover in a global market, so we’ve compiled a discussion of our viewpoints and predictions for the coming year in our Digital Trends Report, which released today.
We’ve broken our report in 10 topics of coverage:
- Choose your own content
- Unified digital experiences
- Multiple screens, multiple methods, one story
- The content car
- Making advertising routine
- Dr Data is around the corner
- There’s no such thing as a (digital) free lunch
- Tech is so not in darling
- Moving fashion forward
- Going Digital: the road to the general election
Every day, we work with our clients on their digital strategy and implementation, but we’ve also done our homework — through research, interviews and using our own Listening Post social media listening tool. We at Hotwire believe in sharing thoughts, ideas and content, which is why we’ve made our Digital Trends report free to download here.
