Feb Baby Afghan

February 16, 2015By 0 Comments

Hi all! Its that time again, Blankey time. If you didn’t know I have a goal of making one blanket a month for Newborns in Need. January’s blanket is here

This month is the Crochet Leafhopper stitch with a Shell edging.

 feb blanket oops

I had a bit of trouble reading the pattern, the video helped tremendously, I really recommend it.  As you can see from the picture after only 2 rows it had turned in on itself, would make a great collar.

I used an H hook and a pound of Love from Lion Brand

Leafhopper Cluster(LCL)- *[yo, insert hook at front and from right to left behind stem of st before next st, yo, draw loop through and up to height of hdc] twice, yo, draw through 4 loops**, skip next st, rep from * to ** around stem of next st, ending yo, draw through all 3 loops on hook.
Skill: Intermediate (easier with the video)
Foundation chain: Multiple of 4 sts + 1. Add 2 for base chain. (I did a 3′ x 3′ for NIN)
Row 1 : (Wrong Side): skip 3ch (count as 1dc), 1dc into next and each ch to end, turn.Row 2: 3ch (count as 1dc), skip 1st st, 1dc into next st, *LCL over next st, 1dc into each of next 3 sts; rep from * omitting 1dc from end of last rep, turn.

Row 3: 3ch (count as 1dc), skip 1st st, 1dc into next and each st to end, working last st into top of tch, turn.

Row 4: 3ch (count as 1dc), skip 1st st, *1dc into each of next 3 sts, 1LCL over next st; rep from * ending 1dc into each of last 4 sts, working last st into top of tch, turn.

Row 5: 3ch (count as 1dc), skip 1st st, 1dc into next and each st to end, working last st into top of tch, turn.Repeat rows 2-5 until you have reached your desired length.

Shell Trim: Round 1: sc even around blanket to lay the foundations.
Round 2: 1sc, *skip 1 st, 5dc into next st, skip 1 st, 1sc into next st; rep from *.

Hey Everyone! Welcome to the Retro Re-Pin Party! The Pinterest party designed to get those older pins seen and re-pinned once again. We need your help – remember to re-pin!

**If you are new to the party – please link the Pinterest Pin to your post and not your blog post!**

Retro Re-pin Party #21

Sad to say we have lost a couple hostesses in the last week or two. We can never replace Dee and Robin but there are still 6 awesome hostesses to re-pin your awesomeness :)  And remember – we all pick our own features so visit each blog to check them all!

Time to meet your hostesses!! Please consider following on at least one social media!

Everyone links up such great pins – old and new – and we love to check them all out! Each week we have new people pinning with us so that just makes it more fun! However, it does make it hard to pick a favorite!

This week we choose:

Totes from Pillowcases DIY/Tute shared by Vintage Sheet. She warns it could become addictive!

Congrats everyone and thanks for sharing! We have a special button just for you:

We would love if you would follow our Retro Re-pin Board!

Wooden Valentine

February 9, 2015By 0 Comments

Hi all! Kristina here. My daughter Rami has decided to take up wood carving. Right now she kind of just cuts lines into the wood but she made a cute little Valentine (for a boy!). Wooden heart valentine First she cut the shape of a flower into the wood with her little carving tool (the wood came heart shaped and was less than a dollar).

Next she went back over the flower with a marker to help define it.

She used way too much marker in her opinion so she rinsed it off with cold water, resulting in a cool background effect.

She then surrounded the heart with ribbon. She used scotch tape to hold it down as I told her to leave the hot glue gun alone.

Did you (or your young’n) make anything special for Valentine’s Day?
