Sound Healing

Throughout time and across all cultures, music and sound have been an integral part of ceremony, ritual, and healing. In traditions such as Buddhism, sound (such as singing bowls and gongs), incantations, and drumming, are used to induce the theta brain-wave state of meditation. In the Old Testament there is a record of David playing the harp to treat King Saul’s depression. Today, we know that when we listen to music, or hear certain sounds, it evokes powerful emotions that can lift us up, make us sad, or help us to understand and express our feelings. It is this recognition of the power of music and sound in therapy, healing and life, that is giving rise to the new field of Harmonic Medicine.

What is Acutonics® Sound Healing?

Acutonics® and sound healing, also known as sonoacupuncture, involve the use of various tuning forks to create a harmonic, sound energy-based, non-invasive treatment that is similar to acupuncture, but without the needles. Tuning forks are applied to acupuncture points. The treatment application of the use of sound waves is also used (although in different ways) in Ultrasound therapy and Lithotripsy for the treatment of muscle injuries and Kidney stones respectively. Since sound travels 4 times faster in water, and the human body is composed of approximately 70 percent water, the human body is therefore a perfect resonator and receptor for sound waves. The tuning fork sound waves vibrate, access and travel deeply into the body’s meridians, and stimulate tissues, energy and Qi, in order to promote inner healing and harmony.

Sound healing also treats a wide variety of conditions, but is especially effective for musculo-skeletal and psycho-emotional related issues, and is a great form of
relaxation.
