2008 BAROSSA BOXER SHIRAZ

 

This wine was vintaged from estate grown fruit. Our vineyards are situated in the southern end of the Barossa Valley in Rowland Flat, which adjoins the North Para River.

The wine was fermented in open top fermenters, where it remained ‘on skins’ for 10 days. Gently pressed, the wine completed fermentation in French oak barriques, where it matured for 12 months prior to bottling.

 

The wine has a very deep purple colour with a black heart, the bouquet is rich and powerful with defined aromas of currants, licorice and plums backed by some supple oak and hints of tar and earth. The palate is thick and mouth filling, displaying luscious flavours of chocolate, licorice, black fruits with balanced natural fruit sweetness. There is some wonderful length on this wine, and it should improve with medium term cellaring. 

 

VINEYARD

This wine is sourced from a single vineyard of Shiraz planted in 1991 on alluvial loam, which is very well drained soil. The vines are pruned hard in the winter back to 12 / 18 buds per vine. The vines are mechanical harvested.

 

OENOLOGY

     The wine was harvested at full ripeness at 15 degrees baume and crushed into open top fermenters.              Fermentation time on skins was 12 days. Fermentation completed in barrel.

 

COOPERAGE

 

This wine was matured in French oak Barriques, for 12 months.

 

CELLARING

This wine is ready for immediate consumption, but will improve in the bottle in the medium term over the next 5 years. Bottled in screwcap to allow slow maturation ensure freshness.

葡萄带皮在敞开式顶层发酵桶里发酵10天后,温柔的进行压榨,在装瓶之前,葡萄酒将在法国像木桶里完成12个月的最终发酵。

 

它的颜色呈深紫色,中心渐深,香气饱满有力,有葡萄干,甘草,李子的感觉,以及柔顺的橡木和焦油,土壤的气息。味觉浓厚,多汁,混合了巧克力,甘草,黑色水果的天然味道。回味持久弥香,中级窖藏。

 

酒园

此款酒来自于1991年唯一种植色拉子的酒园,并且种植在排干性非常好的冲积土壤上。葡萄藤在冬天很难修剪,每枝蔓藤发12-18个芽,收成理想。
