Buying tickets from Bogota to Medellin

I recommend buying your ticket from Bogota to Medellin in Bogota because it is cheaper than purchasing the tickets oversees.

Avianca and Aerorepublica are the two major competitors and are equal in price but may vary depending on seat availability.

Special note: Please avoid arriving late in Bogota as you may miss your connecting flight and have to deal with the hassle of finding a hotel for the night. I strongly recommend arriving in Medellin early in the day – it´s simply more comfortable.

From the U.S.

There are two major cities that offer direct flights to Medellin.

• Miami (3 hours direct)

• New York (8 hours direct)

The major airlines are:

From Europe

There are two major cities that offer cheap tickets to Medellin via the Colombian capital Bogota.

• Madrid

• Paris

The major airlines are:

• Iberia

• Air France

• KLM

Iberia tends to be the cheapest (Many Colombians reside in Spain) so getting to Madrid and flying to Bogota from there is most likely your best option. Note that the flights fill up quickly so book your tickets early.

Air France is an alternative but normally more expensive.
