Fox 5 San Diego transcript, Feb 9, 2015 (emphasis added): It’s been a record year right now for seal and sea lion rescues all along our coast… For some reason sardines and crayfish have pretty much disappeared from the Pacific Ocean — and that is having a very negative impact on seals and sea lions, especially their babies…
Dr. Todd Schmitt, who runs Sea World’s Animal Rescue Center, Feb 9, 2015: “This time of year, we’re seeing 10 times the numbers we’d normally see during the stranding season… They’re all just severely malnourished. They’re coming in emaciated, dehydrated, really severe body condition… They just can’t find food on their own… We think the food – fish — they’re looking for isn’t there. That crayfish, the sardines, have just vanished from California waters, at least around the Channel Islands and coastal areas, so they’re just not able to find food… They’re struggling to survive right now.”
NBC Nightly News, Feb. 8, 2015: Only five weeks into 2015, more than 350 sea lions have been rescued. Marine biologists are worried that this year’s rescues could… exceed [2013's] Unusual Mortality Event [NOAA: "For the past decade, sea lion strandings have averaged about 250"] … “We had rescued 19 California sea lions in January [2013],” Sea World San Diego Senior Veterinarian Hendrick Nollens told NBC News. “This year we already rescued 87 pups in that same month. So this event seems to be much larger.”… lack of fish… may be causing the increased strandings this year, but scientists are still trying to determine what is causing the shortage. “It’s a bunch of reasons coming together to pretty much create what we could call a perfect storm,” [Pacific Marine Mammal Center's Keith Matassa] said… “There’s a lot of times we cry,” volunteer Irene Gilgoff told NBC News.
NBC News transcript, Feb. 8, 2015: Upon arrival a vet checks their vitals. This girl’s signs look promising. Richard Evans, veterinarian: “We’ve got a shot on this one. It’s going to be slow, in the area of months.”… Normally they’d have just 2 or 3 animals this time of year but right now the count is in the 40s — and rising rapidly… It’s hard to say why this is happening.

Can nuclear succeed in liberalized power markets?
04 February 2015
There are 69 reactors under construction today – the largest number in 25 years – but only one is in a liberalized electricity market, writes Edward Kee.
In the USA, two nuclear power plants operating in liberalized electricity markets recently closed for financial reasons. Other operating nuclear power plants in liberalized electricity markets face similar issues and may also retire early. Moreover, all new nuclear power projects in U.S. liberalized electricity markets are on hold or have been cancelled.
The UK electricity market caused financial problems for British Energy prior to its sale to EDF. The difficulty in developing a new nuclear power project in the UK electricity market is demonstrated by the complex Electricity Market Reform program and controversial incentive package for Hinkley Point C.
Are liberalized electricity markets incompatible with nuclear power? …

Iraq’s Children: Ever Expendable
From Madeleine Albright to “Save the Children”
by Felicity Arbuthnot / February 7th, 2015
It’s a hard choice, but the price, we think the price is worth it.
— Madeleine Albright, then US Ambassador to the UN, on the “embargo related” deaths of half a million Iraqi children, May 12, 1996
The most traumatized child population on earth.
— Professor Magne Raundalen, Centre for Crisis Studies, Bergen, Norway, February 1992
Tony Blair was, mind-stretchingly, presented with Save the Children’s Global Legacy Award, on November 19, 2014. His acceptance speech included that his: “… sense is that amidst all the challenges, and all the misery and deprivation that we seek to conquer and vanquish, there is something hopeful … something to be thankful for.”
Ironically, just two months earlier (August 15, 2014) Save the Children released a report on the trauma amongst Iraq’s children in Northern Iraq alone after eleven years of a Bush-Blair driven illegal invasion and ongoing resultant conflict. Iraq’s children, it was clear, had no hope and nothing “to be thankful for.”
Yet Blair was lauded by an organization that claims: “We envision a future in which no child will die from preventable causes and where every child has nutritious food and clean water.” …
Report comment
Without Blair’s claims of fantasy WMDs with which Iraq could wreak annihilation in “45 minutes”, a lie quoted by General Colin Powell at the United Nations exactly twelve years ago, February 5, 2003, for the children of Iraq a genocidal “preventable cause” might have been avoided.
“Nutritious food and clean water”, had, of course, been deliberately destroyed on US Central Command’s order to bomb all water facilities in Iraq in 1991. Food was poisoned by the use of Depleted Uranium (DU) weapons, contaminating all fauna and flora. DU’s “half-life” is 4.5 billion years. And it is not “depleted.”
The contamination nightmare was compounded in orders of magnitude by the further use of DU weapons in 2003, used again by the UK under Blair’s government. Daily Hansard – Written Answers, 22 July 2010. Column 459W, Depleted Uranium. (Scroll to last question)
Befoulment of air, water and food for infinity condemns future generations of unborn, newborn and developing children in Iraq and the region to a poisoned legacy of cancers and deformities for generations to come. War crimes unequalled in history.
Moreover: “The special investigator of the UN Sub-Committee on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights has declared DU munitions illegal under existing humanitarian law. DU weapons also produce a toxic metal fume (sic) that violates the Geneva Protocol on the Use of Gas in War, which the US signed in 1975.” …
Report comment
Further, after thirteen years of the US-UK driven embargo resulting in the deaths of an average of six thousand children a month from “embargo-related causes”, according to the UN, Prime Minister Blair was integral in instigating a war against children:
In 2003 Iraq’s population was just twenty four million. Over forty percent were aged 0-14. The median age of the country was nineteen.
By 2010, seven years into an unending war, over a quarter of Iraqi children suffered from Post Traumatic Stress disorder. (War Child Report, May 2013.) In the five months prior to the Report’s publication, 700 children and young people had been killed, a figure, as all on Iraq, almost certainly a significant underestimate. Between financial constraints, fear of authority and the dangers of travel, numerous deaths are unrecorded.
Also in 2010 a study of cancers, leukemias and birth defects linked to the use of DU proved: “… that there are massive increases in cancer, a 38-fold increase in leukemia, 10-fold increase in breast cancer and infant mortalities are also staggering,” stated one of the authors, scientist Malak Hamdan.
“We invest in childhood – every day, in times of crisis & for our future. We give children a healthy start, the opportunity to learn & protection from harm”, claims Save the Children on Facebook.
They should urgently research what their Global Award winner has unleashed on the child population of Iraq by viewing the eye watering, mind numbing UN Report …
Report comment
on total deaths and injuries month by month, November 2012 to date. 2014 was the “deadliest year since 2008”, which was the deadliest year since 2005 in Iraq’s never ending annual hell. The figures should be engraved on Blair’s tombstone…

I sometimes believe, honestly, that this degree of pathological dishonesty and cynicism is calculated. The point is to emphasize the apparent powerlessness of the population even to grasp the truth much less to bring about constructive change. There are, however, a growing number of activists within the UK who are determined to see Blair brought to justice. It's not impossible that they will succeed.

"Downwinders" are people who suffer health problems from the radioactive fallout of nuclear tests in the Nevada desert from 1951 to 1962. A compensation fund for victims has paid out $923 million to more than 23,000 claimants since it was established 25 years ago.
Although Idaho is home to four of the five counties where test fallout was worst, no compensation has made its way to residents here or in a handful of other Western states.
Lawmakers from those states have, for the seventh time, introduced legislation to change that.
Idaho Sen. Mike Crapo is lead sponsor on the bill to extend the coverage area for claimants to encompass all of Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah. Today only residents of 21 counties in Arizona, Nevada and Utah are covered…

Manmade Nuclear Radiation Contamination is a class one mutagenic and causes cancers.

Report comment
No vision since I am trying to save the world…see you do have avery hard time with comprehension and the fact that you looked at no links on the previous page means you my friend.. do not even really care.
589,000 people died directly from cancer in the U.S. and now for some simple math that hopefully you can understand is this: 589,000 x 40 years = 23,560,000 (millions) of people will die directly from cancer in the next 40 years in the U.S..
Now your brain trust has predicted an increase of up to 70% in cancers by 2030, so I am thinking these presented numbers are now low, but I will base my future 40 year projections on known facts.
OK since you apparently have a hard time reading a graph here you go with 2008 numbers based on the average citizen income of say 25K in 1970 per each working American, which might actually be high overall for 1970.
Exhibit 4A on previous page link states the following.
#1 Total health care expenditures per capita in 1970 = $356.00
#2 Now: Average income in the year 1970 I will say is = $25,000
#3 Total health care expenditures per capita 2008 = $7538.00
#4 (2008) $7538.00 divided by (1970) $356.00 = 21.17 times
#5 So take Average income $25,000 x 21.17 times = $529,000 average American income is needed to stay up with Heath Care Expenditures per capita!
Now even you can find how many died in the U.S. from cancer last year and simple math is always the best math..don't you think?
Report comment
Now drop the average income in 1970 to say $15,000 and this is what you get..
$317,550 average citizen income needed to stay up with the Health Care Gouging that has been going on 24/7 since 1970.

Lake Tahoe's Tiny Creatures Dying Off at Dramatic Rate: Scientist
The smallest critters who occupy the bottom of the cold, clear waters of Lake Tahoe are dying off at an alarming rate and scientists are trying to find the cause to protect the fragile ecosystem of the lake high in the Sierra Nevada range.
Scuba divers completed a first-ever circumnavigation of the shallow areas and certain deep spots last fall, collecting data that showed population drops in eight kinds of invertebrates that are only thumbnail-sized and smaller, including some only found in Lake Tahoe.

Warming-caused ocean acidification or Fukushima/San Onofre radiation or both? Both. No need to decide between them. Radiation contributes to acidification too.
It will only get worse before it gets better. Brace yourselves – for the next ten years. It's going to be a long haul. I hope we are at a tipping point of consciousness. If we are on our way out, due to a combo of Fuku and global warming, I would rather go out with greater consciousness than less.
Our poor beloved ocean!

Ya Arizonian, stock here.
I loved that Taiheyo (Japanese word for Pacific Ocean) Made almost 1000 dives, saw stuff you can never even imagine. Had octopus attack me while night diving, got washed in high waves onto reefs at night, had creepy sharks follow me with crabs in my game bag
Also caught fresh fish, grabbed lobsters and grilled them on the dock fresh after the dive. Crabs, same.
….but overall, incredible wicked good!
Now it is ruined. how sad

Above was from June of 2012…
Now with everything we know/don't know, things are a bit less gray zone. But do we actually know more now than we did before?
We were all warned about the dangers, yet the propaganda proposal of a bright and shinning future was too irresistible, we had to give it a go, to find out if mindlessly breeding billions more people would help… Guess not, now that we know damn well how bad the future will be. Was it worth it? To sit back and read about how our foolish sitting on our hands eating seafood and drinking what is being fed us while Thou hath setteth on thy hands all this time, is a bit unnerving. We have computer cars that stop for us, park for us, blue tooth everything. WHO the HELL needs all this frigging useless 'future' CRAP?? Now we get to be told cancer is normal, move along move along. Great folks, we needed that miracle in our lives, NOT!
I have compiled a HUGE dead list in anger of a certain Bishop in my church telling me there has to be more to your anger than THAT. My GOD how brash some idiots really are in this world! To believe we can just go on like nothing has happened. 'Accident' after accident we just ignore the changes and figure "oh well they will fix it." Were fixed all right! NO reply…

A large pod of close to 200 pilot whales have stranded near Farewell Spit near Golden Bay.
The Department of Conservation staff and Project Jonah volunteers are currently on the scene.
RadioLIVE are reporting 70 of the 198 whales have died, but 130 have been refloated in the tide.

So sad… maybe they are 'deciding' to end it all, enmass.
At least one aborigines tribes has done the same thing, because they see the Earth dying.
Maybe they cannot bear the pain or suffering?

Those whales look healthy enough. Don't disregard the changes taking place in the magnetic fields, many mammals, birds insects etc. use them for navigation:

The following extracts come from spaceweather.com and were written on 12th February, 2015
“SUPER SOLAR FILAMENT: It is, arguably, the second biggest thing in the solar system. A filament of magnetism almost 1,000,000 km long is stretching across the face of the sun. Only the sun itself is bigger.”
"This is a solar filament, a tendril of plasma held suspended above the surface of the sun by magnetic forces. Filaments appear on the sun all the time, but this one is unusually large, 5 to 10 times longer than ordinary filaments. If it becomes unstable and erupts, it could hurl parts of itself into space. Pieces of the filament falling back to the solar surface would explode upon impact, sparking a Hyder flare."

Explain this
Report comment
ftlt, the explanation is right in front of our faces….mass death on the shoreline and bottom of the Pacific Coast for starters. The Japanese currents bring radioactive particles to the shoreline (natural limit) which collect there in higher concentrations (disproving the nucleo-ape theory that radioactivity will evenly diffuse throughout the Pacific Ocean), causing the increase in the temperature of the water where the radioactive particles reside, (bottom of the ocean, shorelines) (also causing PH to lower to a more acidic state) with the resultant mass death. Then again, maybe the Pacific Ocean isn't smiling enough (why would it?).

FUFU is bad. But, it not the cause of all.
We just had it blamed for the ocean's temperature rise on here and no one blinked. WHY????????????????????? That is scary.

'FUFU is bad. But, it not the cause of all.'
Nothing could be truer than that statement.
There is a big picture linked to mankind's continued existence here on planet earth.
Not everyone can see or wants to know the truth.

ftlt, my tinhat is squeezing my brain too much.
El Nino, weather manipulation, solid waste pollution, water restrictions on Colorado river water, the long forgotten treaty with Mexico for water from the river, on and on. California is in a squeeze play, it is not good.
Ocean temp rise should bring more rainfall in theory, IDK how that can be 'manipulated' short term and returned to normal by man.
Some combination of factors are = no good results. It is not radioactive particle, study of a spent fuel pool thermodynamics can shed a lot of light.
This is serious to the food supply. Another brushed off head-in-sand situation.
