Welcome to the Rogue Group Sierra Club

Dedicated to preserving Southern Oregon's environment, natural resources, and quality of life, the Rogue Group is composed of Jackson, Josephine, Klamath, Curry and Lake Counties. This includes the entire Rogue Valley, with activity sections in Grants Pass, the Illinois Valley and Brookings. We are headquartered in Ashland, about 15 miles south of Medford.

Our meetings are held on the 2nd Monday of each month in either the Guanajuato room or the Gresham room at the Ashland Library at 5:30 p.m.. We encourage you to attend. Please refer to the Contacts page or E-mail our Vice-Chair, Bob Palzer. He well be happy to hear from you and anxious to help.

SOU's CoGen Plan is a BAD IDEA

The Rogue Group is emphatically opposed to a biomass burner at Southern Oregon University. The Sierra Club in Oregon is opposed to expanding natural gas facilities. There are air quality, climate, and forest resource concerns with a biomass burner. There are climate concerns with natural gas. Based on those concerns, we strongly oppose a biomass burner at SOU. Volunteer NOW!

Rogue Group offers several opportunities for volunteers to contribute to the protection and enjoyment of our beauiful valleys, rivers, mountains, and forests. YOU can make a significant contribution by donating 3-4 hours per month (and have a great time doing it).

ALL of the funds donated to our Foundation account are used only by the Rogue Group for our conservation programs, education, and litigation. Your contribution is fully tax deductible (501(c)(3)) if you make your check out to The Sierra Club Foundation with Rogue Group on the memo line. Contributions made out only to the Rogue Group are NOT tax deductible.

The Rogue Group Sierra Club is pleased to be a contributor to the Rogue River Walk in Gold Beach.

This is a delightful 6 mile trail running along the south bank of the mighty Rogue River, all the way to Lobster Creek Bridge. Download a copy of the Rogue River Walk Brochure and Map here.


General Information

The Rogue Group of the Oregon Chapter Sierra Club is based in Ashland, Oregon. Our meetings are usually held at the Headwaters Environmental Building, 84 4th St, Ashland. The Groups work focuses on the proposed ski expansion on Mt. Ashland, the Klamath Basin, protecting the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument, and much, much more.

The Group has an active Overnight Backpacking Outings program in the Summer months. Members and non-members are invited to join these hikes around beautiful Southern Oregon. See the Get Outdoors! link for more information.

The Rogue Group covers a very large area and has Activity Sections in Grants Pass, the Illinois Valley and Curry County whose purpose is to focus on more localized activities and issues. See the "Contact Us" link for information on how to contact the section leaders.
