Open Innovation West

Open Innovation West (OIW) is an initiative aiming to support and contribute to the productivity, high performance and recognition of manufacturing in Melbourne’s west.

OIW brings together local manufacturers that are keen to differentiate their offerings or to capitalise on new growth opportunities. The objective is to foster an open innovation culture throughout the region, creating an environment where businesses can share ideas and knowledge, solve problems together across different industry sectors and increase productivity.

Participation in the OIW network is welcomed from all manufacturers in Melbourne's west who are interested in collaborating and innovating in ways that will increase efficiencies and improve productivity.

Benefits: Participation offers manufacturers in Melbourne's west access to a facilitated industry program including:

Bi-Monthly Business Visits:  A series of facilitated business visits for network members to learn about alternative processes, production methods, challenges and opportunities to improve production and cost efficiency through reduced wastage, reduced inputs, recycling, and reduction of environmental impacts.

Quarterly “Power Workshops”:  A series of facilitated “power workshops” with an emphasis on discussion of business models, production efficiencies, sharing of ideas and problem solving.

Annual OIW Event:  An inaugural event showcasing manufacturing in Melbourne’s west, its changes and achievements. Invitees will include manufacturers from Victoria and Australia and feature keynote speakers, workshops and business mentoring sessions.

OIW LinkedIn Group:  Access to the OIW LinkedIn group which will be the network’s online portal to collaboratively share advice, expertise and advice on issues and challenges experienced in business.

Online Business Profile:  Opportunity to provide information for a business profile to be shared on the Open Innovation West page on LeadWest’s website.

Information Access: Access to service modules developed to assist businesses with addressing cost efficiencies, reduce environmental impacts and improve productivity, and documented learnings from business visits and network member discussions as agreed appropriate by Open Innovation West Network members.
