Aliosha Gorshok: A Contemporary Interpretation of Lev Tolstoy
2010-2011

An exhibition of student work from The New School and programs from across central and western Russia, created in response to the short story by Lev Tolstoy. Each student was asked to interpret the story Aliosha Groshok in a contemporary context with an eye toward the
resonance or manifestation of the themes Tolstoy addresses as they apply to contemporary
culture. The relevance of the story within their personal life, and their countries current
socio-political situation are also themes central to the work produced.
