ERHARD, Minn.—Authorities in western Minnesota say a woman stabbed a pit bull that got into her house and attacked her cat.

According to the Otter Tail County sheriff's office, the woman's daughter and a friend were walking into the house in Erhard (ER'-hard) on Wednesday evening when a neighborhood pit bull made it past the girls and got into the home.

The dog then went into a back room and found the cat. While the pit bull was attacking the cat, authorities say the woman started stabbing the pit bull with a knife to get it to stop.

The dog ran out of the house. The cat did not survive the attack. The pit bull remains with its owner.

Erhard is 14 miles north of Fergus Falls.
