I know this is the 'Fitness and Training' section, but I figured the speedies already know about Eddy and have probably already taken a workshop in the past.
There's still time to sign up for the Greensboro, NC Eddy Matzger Roadshow (formerly known as the clinic, or speedskating workshop), this coming weekend 4-18 to 4-20 2008.
Come on out and learn strength, balance, technique, pack skating tips and drills for all of that to keep you busy all year! Perfect or find your classic skating stroke, and work on your double-push in a fun workshop atmosphere, with equally klutzy workshop participants (i.e. me!).
I can't say enough about the treasure trove of tricks and tips I took away from my first workshop, which I attended just 9 months after first learning how to stand up, roll and brake on my inlines (as a goofy adult). The skills I learned - even though I wasn't up to 'getting' the double push at that point - greatly reduced my tendency to fall for no apparent reason. Indeed, after learning and practicing Eddy's drills, I could be grabbed at, kicked, lock frames with someone on a fast downhill on the A2A course, run over sticks, rocks, into holes etc., and still stay upright. Falling still happens to me of course, but way less!
We can try to find floorspace or an extra bed somewhere, if that'll help anybody out. Please pm me if you're interested!

The Greensboro skating host website is sick right now, and being operated on, but please check back here for more write ups and opinions on the workshop:
