President of Somalia disbands judicial service commission
Presidential decree from the office of the president of Somalia, has dissolved the judicial service commission citing the existing of the commission ‘unconstitutional’.
The decree issued on 11th of March 2015, indicates, the existing judicial service commission is unconstitutional and is nonparallel on the establishment of the judicial service law.
The decree also notes the need to establish judicial service commission that is parallel to the article 109 of the constitution.
The decree will not affect the current attorney general and chief judge of the high Court, who are part of the judicial service commission.
In the past, the judicial service commission has been at a logger head with former minister of constitutional affairs Farah Abdulkadir, a close ally of the president in which the commission now believes he had an influence in their dismissal.
The judicial service commission is alleged to be among the most corrupt government institutions in Somalia.
