Professor Rodney Johnson is a Professor Emeritus at the Law School, having served on the faculty from 1970 until his retirement in 1999. He has authored over five dozen articles on wills and trusts, nearly a dozen of which resulted in legislative enactments based on his recommendations. Professor Johnson's Basic Will Drafting in Virginia (An Annotated Collection of Forms and Clauses for Non-Tax Wills, Revocable Inter-Vivos Trusts, Powers of Attorney, etc.) [6th ed. 2008] continues to be used by attorneys across the Commonwealth, and his brochure, Why You Need a Will (a Pamphlet to Explain the Need to the Layperson) [15th ed. 2011], is likewise widely distributed and continues to serve lawyers and the public. Professor Johnson is a life member of the American Law Institute, and he has served as a member of the Legislative Committee of the Virginia Bar Association's Section on Wills, Trusts, and Estates since 1979.
