"I recommend the immediate public recantation and personal repentance of Russell's theology (Full Preterism). Barring this, I recommend the heretic's excommunication by his church's judicial body. The elders should allow the accused member to identify the heresy for which he is then excommunicated." (David Chilton, R.I.P.) (On the Fulfillment of Prophecy) (On
Matthew 24:34, Luke 21:20-22) (On Modern Israel) (On
the Great Tribulation) (On Full Preterism) "We can and should pray for the restoration of his mind, but to debate with him publicly will almost certainly drive him deeper into this heresy. He will feel compelled to defend himself in public. Let him go in peace. It is not our God-given task to confront him at this point. That is for his local church to do." (North on Chilton) "I recommend the immediate public recantation and personal repentance of Russell's theology (Preterism). Barring this, I recommend the heretic's excommunication by his church's judicial body. The elders should allow the accused member to identify the heresy for which he is then excommunicated." "Church officers who learn of any member's commitment to the doctrine of "full preterism" have an obligation to help this member clarify his or her thinking, and either become fully consistent with the full-preterist position or else fully abandon it. The member should be brought before the church's session or other disciplinary body and asked the following six questions in writing:" "the member must also be asked to sign an affirmation of Chapter XXXIII of the Westminster Confession of Faith and answer 90 of the Larger Catechism. This signed statement constitutes a formal rejection of the "full preterist" position. The member must be told in advance that this signed statement can be shown to others at the discretion of the session. If the member refuses to sign such a statement under these conditions, the elders should continue the disciplinary process." "There are only three lawful ways out of a local congregation: by death, by letter of transfer, and by excommunication. Presbyterian laymen who have been brought before the church's session because they are suspected of holding heretical preterism, and who persist in their commitment to heretical preterism by refusing to sign a statement that is consistent with the Westminster standards, must be removed from membership in the local congregation by excommunication." ("Full Preterism" : Manichean or Perfectionist-Pelagian?) (On Orthodoxy) (On
Cursing and Verbal Assault) What about the integrity of the church? What if someone who is not a member of the church publicly curses the church? Is the State required to apply the same sanction? The person may not be covenantally subordinate to the particular church, or any church, unlike the subordinate child who curses a parent. There is no specific reference to any civil penalty for cursing anyone but a parent or God, nor is there any civil penalty assigned for using God’s name in vain. Then is there a general prohibition against cursing? On what grounds could a church prosecute a cursing rebel? One possible answer is the law against assault. Battery involves physical violence against a person, but assault can be verbal. A threat is made. A curse is a threat: calling the wrath of God down upon someone. Another approach is the law against public indecency. A third: cursing as a violation of the victim’s peace and quiet. Restitution could be imposed by the civil magistrate to defend a church or an individual who is victimized by cursing. (Gary North, The Sinai Strategy: Economics and the Ten Commandments (Tyler, TX: Institute for Christian Economics, 1986), pp. 59-60 ) (On Stoning By Government) Stoning is therefore integral to the commandment against murder. " (Gary North, The Sinai Strategy: Economics and the Ten Commandments (Tyler, TX: Institute for Christian Economics, 1986), p. 123)
"Is Christianity just another special-interest group, clawing for political power? Or, even if Christians are acting as God's spokesmen, must Christians always conduct themselves politically as if Christianity were just another special-interest group? Do Christians conduct evangelism this way? Do they believe that the gospel is just another competing worldview among many? That Jesus is just another Messiah competing among many? That the God of the Bible is just another divinity competing against many?" (Gary North, Political Polytheism: The Myth of Pluralism (Tyler, TX: Institute for Christian Economics, 1989), p. 99. ) (On Y2K) Ecclesiastical Megalomania "After this speech, David Chilton subsequently suffered a heart attack from which he initially recovered and eventually died. One wonders if the terror and desperation he felt in the Tyler Church contributed to his health problems. After his heart attack, Chilton and his lecture were viciously attacked by Gary North, the chief financier of the Tyler Church, both publicly and privately. This editor was threatened in writing with "destruction" by North for publicizing Chilton’s speech. Several former members of the Tyler Church contacted the editor after we published this Review, saying that Chilton had not told the half of it. They were still frightened of the leaders of the Tyler Church years after they had left."
What do YOU think ?

CommentsWhat does any of this (except perhaps the first five quotes) have to do with proving or disproving partial or full preterism? Its only purpose, like much of the rest of this website, seem to be ad homenim argumentation, simply trying to discredit the author by saying "look what else he believes". CommentsI don't understand why everyone is beating around the bush and trying to be diplomatic here! Someone must come right out and say it... Gary North is clearly an intellectual giant and a social/relational midget. Like so many brilliant Christian thinkers before him he is ever so willing to sacrifice agape on the altar of truth. If error were ever the issue then we would have be lost! While we all strive to represent God, God's nature, and God's Word accurately and purely we should be ever mindful of the hard reality of sin and the fall. In every Christian - Mr. North included - there will always be a mix of truth and error won't there? Are we not considering ourselves better than Jesus and setting up a new idol - our own intellect and understanding of the truth - if we can't accept and befriend with those who are in error (be they Christian or not)? If Christ loved us when we were yet His enemies how can we do less? Dr. Francis Schaeffer wrote that "The mark of the Christian is love." From what I have seen and directly experienced, Gary North is missing the mark.... BADLY missing the mark. May God richly bless us one and all!
CommentsI am not an expert on North despite having subscribed to his financial newsletters over the years. However, having recently read a paper in which North speaks poorly of David Hunt, I suggest North maya not be as bright as he seems to think he is. My partner, Frank Van Lohn, deceased, first knew North when Gary was a student at UCLA and approached Gary's recommendations with a most careful eye. lbuhler@juno.com
CommentsMy dearest Dr. Gary North, I have been trying to reach you by e-mail but your email on ICE (free books) is not working. I have your writings about Theology of Christian Resistance, Covenantal Theology, Divorce and Remarriage. I agree with you and want to start a covenant church in Pakistan. I also want to be fully educated according to ICE. Since I fully agree. I want your more literature and your guidance. Please contance me: aftab62pk@yahoo.com. Believe me I am anxiously waiting for your response. May God in Jesus Christ bless you all the more.
CommentsDear Dr. North I just finished your book "last train out" and subsequently stumbled acrossed this web site. I would be interested in finding some of the books referenced in "last train out". I am fascinated that you are a preterist, and perhaps a believer. please respond if able, Vance vwashkow@juno.com
CommentsCould it be that Gary North and the rise of Right-Wing Christianity in the United States in particular will lead to a "new world order" government run by "Christians". Could it be that the scripture "they will think they are doing God a service by killing you" is speaking of this group??? Wouldn't it make sense that the "AntiChrist" would be a man pretending to be a Christian leader and would have a Christian army of followers. Just wondering???
CommentsYes, North is correct.
CommentsNorth is correct in so many ways where does one begin? Firstly, many misconstrue or rather pit Truth v. Love. Telling the Truth IS love. Those that sugar coat the truth are not loving at all. Also, the quotes above are taken out of context in every situation. Nonetheless, the truths do come through. I suggest those on the list actually get ahold of some North books and actually read them all the way through. Then go through the footnotes. North, unlike most modernist, evangelical writers, actually meticulously footnotes AND places the footnotes on the pages where you can easily check them out. Be careful trying to spar with this guy. North is probably the closest to Lewis or Shaeffer of any writer out there.
CommentsI'd like to answer the following question, "Could it be that Gary North and the rise of Right-Wing Christianity in the United States in particular will lead to a "new world order" government run by "Christians". Could it be that the scripture "they will think they are doing God a service by killing you" is speaking of this group??? Wouldn't it make sense that the "AntiChrist" would be a man pretending to be a Christian leader and would have a Christian army of followers. Just wondering???" with an unequivocal NO. Whoever you are you need to study before you yap. Firstly, North amongst all the writers would put politics far down the list. Secondly, the "right wing" that you describe generally supports centralized government whilst the North-types (Chilton, DeMar, Grant, etc.) support limited government such as our forefathers had in mind. You are so far off the track that your paranoia is clouding your sight.
CommentsGary North, what a joke. This man has been rejected even by R. J. Rushdoony, the very founder of Christian Reconstructionism. North believes that Jesus would send a man to hell for stopping a killer (by means of force). Gary, you don't speak for all Reconstructionists, Postmillennarinas, or Calvinists when you condemned Paul Hill. I plan on refuting your letter, which doesn't even have the facts straight. As Pavone said, North isn't half the man that heroes like Paul Hill are. You seem to not understand the difference between retributive vigilante justice and premeditated defensive action. You are a coward, and a liar. ALOC

CommentsGary North isn't a Christian. He's a dogmatic with a dangerously narrow view on God's creation and God's people. He refutes the Law of Jesus with Mosaic Law then ignore the important tenants of Mosaic Law. Remember...God so loved THE WORLD, he gave his only begotten son. It doesn't say God so loved the Dispensationalist or God so loved those who try to micromanage Him...the Bible says "the world." Maybe if we also remember the parable of the two wealthy men, and who obeyed God and who loved his money so much he turned away from God then Mr. North can remember morals and ethics aren't always the same.
CommentsIt was said: "Gary North, what a joke. This man has been rejected even by R. J. Rushdoony..." Disassociating himself from Rushdoony is reflective of his orthodoxy, not indicative of some joke. Rushdoony is hardly reflective of the summation of reconstructive thought historically or presently. The guy was living in open sin by his refusal to put himself under ecclesiastic sanctions. Rushdoony may have been well read, but his writings are a tad simplistic.
