Get a closer look at Nintendo's lustrous new orange GameCube. We think you'll like it.

In conjunction with the release of Super Smash Bros. Melee Nintendo released two new shades of GameCube: Black and Orange. The US market was privy to the sleek Jet Black console, but Nintendo of America opted to not sell the admittedly boldly colored Spice (Orange) console stateside. The only taste of Spice you can get in the US is the controller. For us, that simply wasn't enough.

That said, we've gone ahead and imported the Spice GameCube from Japan and let us tell you -- man, is it groovy. Once you see the glowing orange cube up close you realize that it is practically radioactive. This, we assure you, is for the better. The radiant beacon of interactive entertainment is the perfect addition to any home theater setup. It has an extremely retro feel to it, reminding us of something you'd see in an old 70s movie that tries to portray the future. It's not HAL, but it does have that mysterious sliver of orange light for the power display. It's the next best thing, really.

We highly recommend importing it, as it doesn't seem Nintendo of America has any plans to release the wild tone over here. You'll be the coolest (or geekiest) kid on your block. Then all you'll need to do is get it modified to play US software for as little as $40 or do it yourself with the help of our How to Modify Your GameCube Guide.

Be sure to check out some screenshots of the console below.
