Woj: JaVale McGee traded to Sixers

Shortly after unloading Arron Afflalo for a first and a second, the Nuggets have used their OKC pick to send JaVale McGee to the Philadelphia 76ers, per Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports. Denver has agreed to send JaVale McGee to Philadelphia, along with a first-round pick via OKC, league source tells Yahoo Sports. — Adrian […]

3-on-3: Taking stock

With over a quarter of the 2014-2015 NBA season in the books, we’re ready to give the Denver Nuggets their first progress report of the year. Joining us for an early season 3-on-3 is special guest Aaron Lopez. Although he’s moved on from the Nuggets beat, Aaron covered the team for the Associated Press, Rocky […]

Treacherous Trifecta: The Denver Nuggets’ three biggest problems through 18 games (and how to fix them!)

After a disastrous 1-6 start where Murphy’s Law was in full effect, the Denver Nuggets have turned 180 degrees. These days rather than everything going wrong, almost everything is running smoothly. The Nuggets are 7-3 in their last 10 games and Brian Shaw appears to have found a series of rotations that are working effectively. […]

Rapid Reaction: Denver Nuggets 114, Chicago Bulls 109

The Denver Nuggets won their fifth straight game against the Bulls on Tuesday. Ty Lawson broke Kirk Hinrich’s ankles on an assist (yes, you heard that correctly) and Danilo Gallinari made a ridiculous shot that should have counted even though it didn’t (confusing, I know). Finally the Nuggets are actually fun to watch again. More […]

Rapid Reaction: Denver Nuggets 107 Oklahoma City Thunder 100

The Denver Nuggets are on a winning streak as they best the Thunder of Oklahoma City for a 107-100 win. Grades and commentary are posted below.

Rapid Reaction: Denver Nuggets 108 Indiana Pacers 87

The Nuggets beat the Pacers in blowout fashion for their first win in over 2 weeks. Denver is now 1-0 on a 3 game road swing that will take them to New York and Cleveland next.

Rapid Reaction: Shame

Note: I’m switching to more of a free-form recap format as the general nature of the game and the team at large demand it. Individual grades and analysis of the micro problems fly in the face of the overwhelming macro issues currently plaguing the team. We’ll return to to the rapid reaction format next time.

Rapid Reaction: Sacramento Kings 131, Denver Nuggets 109

The Nuggets were not in this game from the first whistle. This looks like how I expect the 76ers to look in late March. Things are bad and it’s hard to even imagine a light at the end of the tunnel. More depressing notes below… Denver Nuggets 109 Final Recap | Box Score 131 Sacramento […]

Rapid Reaction: Denver Nuggets 105 Sacramento Kings 110

The Nuggets shoot 39% en route to their second straight loss and are now 1-2 on the season. Check out the grades below and a few of my thoughts on what’s going wrong. Hint: it’s everything.

Rapid Reaction: Denver Nuggets 89, Detroit Pistons 79

In the first game of the 2014-15 season the Denver Nuggets started off languid but kicked it into high gear late thanks to a standout defensive stint from Alonzo Gee and endless energy from Kenneth Faried. Though it was rough, the Nuggets prevailed by 10 in the end. More analysis below… Detroit Pistons 79 Final […]

An optimist’s guide to the 2014-15 Denver Nuggets

Over the years I’ve gathered this sneaking suspicion that I — and to some extend Roundball Mining Company — have developed a reputations as a cynic. I’ve never really debunked this sentiment, as there are a lot worse things in this world to be called than cynical (many of which I’ve also been called), however […]

Roundball Roundtable: Preseason predictions poll

With the 2014-15 regular season right around the corner, we at RMC figured it was about time for some good ol’ fashioned preseason predictions — you know, MVP, total wins, Sixth Man, the whole nine yards. But more importantly we wanted to look ahead, to irrationally predict the zeitgeist of the Denver Nuggets come June […]

Welcome to the Reader Comment of the Week, a recurring series where we’ll highlight voices from Roundball Mining Company community found in our forum, comments section, in e-mails and through Twitter rants. This week’s comment comes to us from reader gimpcom187: Mozgov made medium/minor gains last year in terms of what he brought per minute, just […]

5-on-5: Player predictions

With the 2014-15 regular season creeping closer each day, we figure it’s only right we start making totally unsupported predictions about where the Denver Nuggets fit into the grand scheme of the NBA. But before we get into playoffs, records and awards, we must first analyze the players that will ultimately determine how successful this […]

Recap: L.A. Lakers 98, Denver Nuggets 95

The Nuggets first preseason game of the 2014-15 season… OK, honestly, I don’t know how to do these because it’s been so long. Players played? Lovers loved? Nurkic thundered? Or is that a Fleetwood Mac song? I don’t know what’s happening. Let’s get into the game notes… Box score. — Not gonna lie. It was […]
