Earlier this month, the House Agriculture Committee held its first hearing on SNAP. The Republican chairman of that committee, Mike Conaway (TX-11), admits that he has a “personal bias” in favor of drastic cuts and has promised a “soup-to-nuts review” of the program.

None of the people who use food stamps today are responsible for crashing the economy in 2008. But most have never recovered from that catastrophe – losing jobs, income, and struggling to make ends meet. And yet, they are continually targeted in budget cuts and while the largest corporations have not lost any subsidies or seen any tax increases at all.

If we want fewer people receiving food stamps, we need more jobs and higher wages, not cruel attacks on the most vulnerable among us.

Join CREDO and Daily Kos in telling Congress to not to cut food stamps.

Our Message to U.S. Congress

Oppose any cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or changes that would deny food aid to Americans in need, and instead focus on creating jobs and raising wages.
