How to Become a Blog Commenting Superstar

September 16, 2013 | By Adrienne Smith

I have a very special guest for you today because this is her first guest post.  This is the second one this year so I’m thrilled that their first experience is here on my blog.

Not that she needs any introductions but I’m so very pleased to have the lovely and talented Harleena with us because she’s sharing a topic that is near and dear to us all; blog commenting.

I could go one forever but I’ll just let Harleena share with you what she’s learned about this topic and how you can also have success in this area.

This is my first ever guest post! I was indeed delighted when Adrienne asked me to be her guest for this month because she inspires me so much, and I had no doubt in my mind that her blog was the perfect place to start my guest blogging journey.

Not to mention that I’ve learnt so much from Adrienne, most of all the art of blog commenting. So, I thought about sharing my experiences on blog commenting today with all of you.

Yes, blog commenting is a skill so important for blogging, which can be learned by anyone.

I did say it is important and I really mean it.

From my personal experience, I can vouch for commenting on blogs as a measure of success in blogging. That’s because it has single handedly helped me develop relationships with so many people, which in turn has made my blog rise up the ranks.

And mind you, the said relationships that develop are not superficial.

Over the years, the blog owners, where I used to comment, have now become my blogging friends, and they are there for me through thick and thin.

Even Google loves blog commenting, which basically is a form of interaction and results in both the parties involved being rewarded.

All that Google likes is that the commenting on blogs should be fair and genuine.

What else do I get from blog commenting – but obvious, backlinks. But for me relationships come first!

Every professional and serious blogger knows how much these links mean for your own blog – these are pure gold, in terms of SEO and blog ranking.

Lastly, my comment also drives back traffic to my blog from the blog where I comment on. This is your referral traffic, and it’s valuable.

One stone, three birds – that’s right! You invest your time to comment on a blog and you get three free bonuses!

But this isn’t the reason I’ve written this post, as I guess everybody knows the advantages of blog commenting.

I’ve come here to share my tips and secrets of blog commenting, and how writing comments on blogs has helped me, which has been something many people have asked me.

I hope my little experience can help you to become commenting superstars!

Blog Commenting Tips

When I entered the blogging arena about less than three years from now, Adrienne was already a seasoned commenter. It was her comment on my blog that drove me to her instantly.

Something about her struck a chord with me – something that I could relate to immediately.

I loved her way of commenting, which involved the way of treating people and creating relationships. No wonder that she was even named the “Engagement Superstar” – because she’s a blogging legend. :)

Here are some qualities that I tried to imbibe from her commenting practice, besides adding some of my own:

  1. Be generous - Comment from your heart
  2. Be intelligent - Comment using your mind
  3. Be good - Comment following the rules
  4. Be smart - Comment incorporating Google’s suggestions

Since most of you are regular and professional bloggers, you probably live by most of these suggestions on a daily basis.

However, this might turn out to be a gold mine for new bloggers, if you add your suggestions and tips in the comments.

Comment From Your Heart

When you comment, don’t do it for the sake of the free bonuses that you’ll be receiving.

Comment to share your thoughts and views, or your heartfelt feelings.

In order to do so, you’ll need to complete two tasks:

· Read the entire post on the blog.

· Read or scan through the previous comments on the post.

If you don’t do these tasks, your comment will never be complete and you’ll not do justice to the post. That’s because either your comment will not be completely relevant, not to the point, or you might end up repeating something, which doesn’t look nice.

Obviously, doing it all takes time, but it’s surely worth it.

I’m sure if you comment from your heart, you’ll not try to restrict yourself in number of lines or words. You’ll genuinely try to complement the post with all that it takes.

It fills my heart when visitors heartily discuss the issues of the post in their comments on my blog, which makes it so valuable because they’ve taken out their precious time to add their thoughts and feelings.

When I comment on a blog, I intend and wish it all the success. Such positive attitude helps creates positive vibes, and other bloggers too learn that blogging is all about helping each other.

Following up your comment on a blog is also a good thing to do. It helps you create a dialog and put your point across more candidly, and create more value!

You create an image or reputation among bloggers with your commenting style to get noticed in the crowd, and your blog is linked along with your popularity as a commenter.

For example, I’m not in any way boasting, but I’m a little known for my long comments, and almost everybody knows that I’m from Aha!NOW. Isn’t that free publicity you achieve through blog commenting?

Though you don’t have to necessarily write long comments like me, but make sure its substantial and of substance.

Even when it comes to answering the comments to your guest posts on others’ blogs, be generous, friendly, and helpful.

The blogger has given you an opportunity and opened the window to its faithful readers. You on your part should respect that gesture and interact soulfully with those who comment there.

This would only help you create a good image of yourself, and help you to make new contacts and friends.

Comment Using Your Mind

You should never comment just as a formality. Instead, try to make your comment complete and sensible.

There are commenter’s who just write anything and expect the comment to be approved. On my blog, I’d rather prefer that such people don’t comment at all, or I just have to trash their comments.

What I prefer receiving through the comments of my readers is their rich knowledge and experience. Similarly, what I like to do when I comment is give my 2 cents.

Here are some questions that cross my mind as part of my thought process while writing a comment:

· Have I answered all the questions put forth in the post?

· Do I agree or disagree with the content of the post, and have I expressed the reasons thereof?

· Is there any special effort on the part of the blogger that needs appreciation?

· Does the post deliver anything of value, if yes – then have I thanked the blogger for it?

· Did I share my personal experiences relating to the topic of the post, if I know any?

· What are “my 2 cents”, and have I explained it thoroughly to make the post meaningful.

· Lastly, do I have any specific question to ask regarding the post?

So, I guess now you know the reasons for my long comments. :)

Shouldn’t they be complete in all respects?

I personally value blog comments because whenever I do a research, besides the post content, I like to go through its comments, as I find the personal experiences mentioned there are often helpful.

One thing that I noticed on my blog is that some commenter’s simply copy the comments that others made and paste them as their own. Whenever I suspect such foul play, I check for plagiarism in the comments.

As for you, I’d suggest to always be original, make your comment relevant, and never spam. Just share what you feel about the post with others – be you, and use your own voice!

You don’t have to be an Einstein to analyze the post and write your comment! Blogging is about journaling your thoughts and experiences, so just let your comment fulfill that requirement.

Comment Following The Rules

Every blog has some said or unsaid commenting rules.

You need to check if there are any specific rules for commenter’s to follow on the blog.

In fact, there’s a general code of conduct that is obvious and known as commenting common sense or etiquettes, such as:.

· Use your Gravatar image.

· Use ONLY the root domain of your blog in the URL field.

· Write your real name in the name field.

Now, tell me honestly – how many times do you get visitors that don’t follow any or some of these basic guidelines.

I get plenty of such comments and it becomes a headache to correct or remove such entries.

Most bloggers don’t like that you link the comment to your company’s site, page, or product.

Other thing to take care is not to include any site links in the comment if the blogger doesn’t allow it, as that is generally seen as an overly aggressive content promotion.

Also, try to format your comment according to the comment styles of the blog if possible. At any cost, avoid grammar and spelling mistakes.

I particularly don’t like people starting the comment using small alphabets, using mobile texting style, not using punctuation marks, not giving proper spaces between the sentences or paragraphs, and other little things.

So, always proof read your comments, and break it into many small comprehensible parts for clear and immediate understanding.

I believe the commenter should be as careful while commenting as he or she would be when commenting on his or her own blog.

Not to mention, you should not be bad or rude in your comment even if you don’t agree with the post. There are civilized and sober ways of disagreeing and expressing your discontentment.

Comment as Per Google’s Suggestions

You all know how much Google is trying to reduce the webspam, and Matt Cutts has even expressed concerns over the misuse of blog commenting by the link baiters, spammers, and SEO professionals.

You should avoid letting unknown blogs and sites put a keyword-rich anchor word in the name field of the comments box, or in the content of the comment.

I’m sure you’d not want to risk linking out to sites that use spam and black hat techniques to influence their ranking. If you’re not careful, Google might even penalize you for facilitating such links.

As a word of caution, I would also suggest not to comment on blogs that don’t show any recent activity, don’t have quality blog posts, and are suspicious of using malpractices.

However, I was relieved after reading Adrienne’s recent video post, where she gave a peek into CommentLuv Premium’s new features by Andy that will automatically take care of these aspects.

If you’re using CommentLuv Premium, then I hope you also check for any broken CommentLuv links by using Andy’s free CommentLuv Link Checker plugin.

Of course, I also use the Broken Link Checker plugin to inform me if any links in the comments have expired or gone bad, so I can repair or remove them.

Although it is stated that Google prefers you to comment on blogs of your own niche, but I don’t always follow that – on this front, relations are more important to me than my Google or Alexa rank!

But commenting on same niche blogs would help you develop an authority for yourself and your blog.

Some of My Blog Commenting Secrets

I’m going to share what many bloggers know but don’t really follow.

· I’m usually one of the first few commenters’ on select blogs. I’m sure that’s nothing new for most readers of this blog as you tend to see me right on top and have often asked me about it too. :)

Like I always say that the time zone plays in my favor here, so I guess I get lucky at times to be among the first few to comment on various blogs.

But this also helps me because it increases the chances of bringing more traffic back to my blog. Wouldn’t you also want that?

· I’ve opted for RSS feeds on my Feedly and subscribed to the email newsletters of a few bloggers.

Why do I do that? This helps me to keep a record of the blogs where I need to comment without fail, and the email notification helps me to be one of the first commenter’s on that blog!

· I share the posts I comment on in the social media. If the blog has CommentLuv and the blogger offers the social media buttons through it, then I use them to get DoFollow backlinks.

What different does it make?

Well, with the recent Google updates, most bloggers have made their comment backlinks as NoFollow. So, it’s wise to go for the DoFollow links through CommentLuv, provided the blogger offers this option.

And That’s Not All!

I would conclude by saying that blog commenting is an excellent blog promotion strategy. It’s free just like the social media, but I feel it’s more effective to develop relationships than anything else.

When you comment on other blogs, generally those blog owners reciprocate by commenting on your blog too. So that creates engagement and brings traffic to your blog.

Remember that you don’t develop relationships over a single comment. You need to frequently visit a blog and interact with the blogger through your comments to build a relationship, which happens only with time and patience.

If you can’t remember all the blogs you want to comment on, and then make a list of blog communities you want to be a part of and visit them often.

I’m pretty consistent in blog commenting and try to visit as many blogs as I can, though it does become overwhelming at times. So, I tend to comment on a few every day.

I do hope that all of you will add your blog commenting tips and secrets with us, without which this post will remain incomplete.

Over to You

What are your views on blog commenting and how do you go about it?  What is your strategy to leverage it for your blog promotion?  Do share your tips and views in the comments. :)

We’d also appreciate you sharing this post with your friends.  Hopefully they’re eager to learn how they can also become a blog commenting superstar.

I’m honored, Adrienne!

My first guest post – I’m SO excited to be here on your blog to start it off with. This is the place where I’ve been coming for months and years, reading your and others’ posts. It feels good to be on the other side and have my own post on your blog. I heartily thank you for giving me this opportunity.

And, whatever I’ve written in the post is direct from my heart – it’s you who I’ve looked up to as a blogging ideal, and even my hubby comments that she’s your “Guru”! So, I had to give you back as a token of appreciation of what you gave me all this time. I’ve still got so much to learn from you about many other aspects of blogging.

You’re definitely better and THE best in blog commenting and I hope you’ll share your secrets and tips to make this post complete and wholesome. I also do hope the readers will share their own comments and suggestions to, as I wrote in the post- to make this post a really wholesome one. And it could not be at a better place than your blog!

At the end, I convey my gratitude and thanks to you for having me over on your blog before your huge audience of great readers and people. I hope they’ll like the post.

Thank you once again from the bottom of my heart. :)

Hi Harleena,

Yay, I’m so honored as well to have you writing your first guest post here at my blog. So from this moment forward you’ll have this one under your belt and I know it will be a huge success. Just look who is writing it plus the topic. I just appreciate you accepting my invitation so thank you.

I could tell that Harleena as I was reading it. You really go above and beyond in this process, probably a lot more then me. I prefer just commenting and sharing my experiences of what I’ve gone through having read their topic if it applies of course. That’s how I really just got started doing this and people seemed to appreciate that I was a lot like them in so many respects. I didn’t know it all and I was learning just like them. I think they started viewing me as just another person here to learn. I think that’s where the bonding started happening. That’s funny that your husband called me your guru. That’s something I’ve never looked at myself as. I’m definitely smiling having read that.

Well I just shared how I got started doing this and the direction I took. I think when you share your own experiences then sometimes the comment can get a little long. I didn’t really go into this process with a specific plan but it just all worked out like that.

Oh, the pleasure is all mine and I’m just so thrilled to have you here today. Thank you again so much for writing this post here on my blog and I know that my readers will appreciate learning from you too!

Enjoy the process my friend! ;-)

Wow! What a fantastic piece Harleena.

You are the master in blog commenting. You know how to grab both readers and blog authors attention.

I’m sure this is just the beginning of a great blogger “guest blogging campaign”, you’ll get wider reach if you’re consistent Harleena.

Here are my 2 cents..

Use names of the commenters while replying (this adds personal touch) and never allow one liners unless they add extreme value.

P.S: Hey Adrienne, I’m feeling bit jealous as I missed the chance of posting “first guest post by Harleena” on my blog.

Cheers,
Rahul K

Hi Rahul,

Well welcome to my blog and I’m so pleased that you stopped by and read Harleena’s first guest post. I’m so honored that she’s graced the blogging world with this particular post here.

I’m glad you got that two cents from this post but I sure do hope you’ll get another one and get your gravatar set up. We can’t see “you”! That will definitely help with your blogging experience in the future.

Sorry that I grabbed her first but I’m truly honored.

Thank you for your comment and enjoy your week.

Hi Rahul,

Welcome to Adrienne’s blog, and I’m SO pleased that you did take out the time to stop by here today :)

Ah…well, thank you for saying that, but I’ve Adrienne to thank for teaching a lot to me where blog commenting is concerned – not directly, but in her own ways.

I agree with you – consistency IS the key, and I’m glad I got to start it off from here. There was just NO question of refusing her or making any kind of excuses when Adrienne invited me to be her guest, just an honor I’d add.

Love your two cents, which are so valuable and I totally agree with them as well. And when you are personal through your comments, you are able to relate much better to the person on the other side.

Lol….don’t worry Rahul, if you ask, I’d be more than happy to be your guest too :)

Thanks SO much for taking out your valuable time and leaving a comment here Rahul, it means a lot to me :)

BTW – What happened to your lovely picture because I know you have a nice Gravatar already set up. We DO want to see you :)

Hey Harleena and Adrienne,

I do have to pat myself on the back because I’m one of the first commenters here LOL… I’m just trying to follow what Harleena does ;)

I started blogging about 3 years ago and I’ve seen a big difference from when I wasn’t commenting that much to now. But one thing is for sure is that you’ll get better responses if your comments are genuine and actually showing interest in the topic itself.

I’ve actually never really noticed the commenting rules. If I find a blog that’s relative to my interest and can learn from, then I definitely will comment despite the rules. I thought it would just be nice to have a gravatar, use my real name and I just put in the root domain because the website field was there. My focus is mainly on just commenting.

But that’s a great tip on subscribing to blogs that resonate with you. This makes it more convenient to keep up with those blogs via email. Also, added, sharing these blog posts will also show how serious and dedicated, how you like to share good information with others, as well as getting those backlinks and traffic back to your blog.

I definitely agree that commenting is a great way to build great relationships. I’ve met so many great people and learned a lot about different strategies and programs that you can’t help to become a great blogger!

Thanks for sharing your tips!

Hi Sherman,

Congratulations my friend, so happy to see you here at the top. I know, it’s kind of hard at times to get over here quick enough but you’ve done very good this morning and I’m always happy to see you.

I agree and I think that because people try to read so many blogs that they skip over a lot of stuff and then hurry to get their comment written so they can move on to the next. I think if they were to take just a little more time then their comments would come across much more genuine.

I agree Sherman that I don’t always read their commenting rules either but I also know that there is probably no way I’m breaking any of them unless they are just far out which I’ve yet to encounter. I set my gravatar up early and I always use my root domain. I take the time to read the post and comment so what could I possibly be doing wrong!

Thank you so much for sharing this with us, we both appreciate that so much. Continue on my friend, commenting away! lol…

Enjoy your week too Sherman and thanks for your comment.

Adrienne,

One of the things I asked Harleena in my comment below was bout the rule of only using the root domain in the website field when you comment.

One of the things I read about and have been thinking about doing is to set up a “If this is your first time here” page and use that for the website URL when I leave comments.

The thought is that most people coming from another site to yours are first time visitors and a Welcome, if this is your first time here, this is what I’m about, these are places you should check out first etc would be of greater use thank to just bringing them to my home page.

It allows me to add a personal message to those first time visitors to set the stage for future conversations.

I know when I often visit a site I oftentimes miss their start here if you’re new link on their front page.

Anyway, was just something I’ve been thinking about to start the engagement as soon as possible for first time visitors.

One thing you can do Kevin is after they’ve commented then send them to a page to introduce them to more of what you have. I believe there is a plugin for that and it’s only for first time visitors so it’s not like it sends everyone to that particular page.

I know that for me if I’m following a link from a comment I want to go to that post and read it. After I’m done then I might snoop around a bit more but not everyone appreciates being send to a specific page so you don’t want to turn them off either.

Just my thoughts on this but I’m sure Harleena will have hers a well.

Hi Sherman!

Kudos for being the first commenter on this post! :)

You sure have picked up the tips well, and I’m sure you’ll see a difference. I’m glad you’ve taken the position that I used to vie for every time!

I totally agree with your rich experiences in blog commenting. You’re right in that you don’t really have to read the rules of commenting on blogs once you know that you’re genuinely and completely giving your 2 cents. And, your efforts are really helpful to people and to yourself too.

I believe blogging is a great medium to share your rich knowledge and experiences, and blog commenting helps you make it more easy through it’s interactiveness. It’s great if you follow all the simple and general rules of blog commenting etiquette.

You’re right when you say that sharing the posts you comment on shows your seriousness and dedication, besides being a token of appreciation of the efforts by the blogger. I cannot even think of blogging without its commenting feature, which surely takes a bit more of effort and time on our part, but it really connects you to other people literally through the hearts and minds, isn’t it?

Thanks for being a good blog commenter and for sharing your tips and experiences. I appreciate it very much. :)

Hi Adrienne and Harleena,

This is a post that’s full of value for both the seasoned and beginner blogger.

I agree wholeheartedly with not commenting just for the sake of the bonuses you may get from it. I only ever comment on a post if I can add something to the discussion. If the subject doesn’t interest me or I don’t feel that I can contribute anything of value then I won’t comment.

Too many people clearly just don’t give much thought into their blog commenting and it’s a real shame because they could benefit so much more by implementing the strategies that are mentioned in this post.

Thanks for the excellent pointers :-)

Kind regards,

Hi Glenn,

Great to see you this morning and thank you for sharing this with us. You’re right, this is a really great post for any blogger.

I think a lot of bloggers still don’t really contribute to the comments and I’ve already deleted four this morning because of that. One or two liners saying something along the lines of what the topic is about but not really contributing anything. I don’t want those types of comments here. Tell me what you really think or just skip it!

I appreciate you sharing this because that’s exactly how I feel. :-)

Enjoy your week and thanks for your comment.

Hi Glenn!

Thank you for your words of appreciation, and coming from you it really makes my day! :)

I also appreciate your honesty and genuineness when it comes to commenting, and your intent to add something to the discussion, which is the best contribution a blog commenter can make.

I feel that you exhibit your real persona through blog commenting, though you can fake it, but not for long. People can identify and gauge the commenters seriousness and intention through the comments. I, for example, know who’re just casual commenters on my blog, and know that they’re there just for the links, and I don’t really value them so much, yet I’m thankful that they visited my post.

I’m glad you like the pointers in the post. Thanks for reading the post and sharing your thoughts and views. :)

Congratulations on your first guest post, Harleena! I really appreciate the time you took to write such a detailed, informative post. I certainly took a lot out of this.

Well to answer your questions, I try to do what you do! When I first started blogging and commenting, I read previous comments, such as yours and Adrienne’s, on posts to see how others were conveying sincerity and valuable input. Then I used the inspiration to write my own comments. I’ve noticed that your comments are always very detailed and engaging, and I really admire your ability to produce such wonderful comments. I bet it does get overwhelming, but, like you said, relationships are definitely worth it. I’m so grateful for each one of your comments on my own blog.

You mentioned Feedly here. I hadn’t heard of it before, but it seems like a great way to get updates from all blogs that you’re following. Something I need to look into! I’ve been out of commission due to the strenuous tasks of college classes, but I’m still here! I hope you’ve been well, and I’ll see you over at your blog soon!

Thanks again for this great post! Have a beautiful weekend.

Good morning Kalina!

I’m so happy to have her here today so thank you.

So glad you’ve picked up a few tips from us both as far as commenting is concerned. I do believe that it’s obvious to others who is being genuine and who isn’t. Who is here for the right reasons and who isn’t. I know it can be time consuming to write longer comments but in the long run I think that it will benefit you more. Of course that is if you have enough to say on the topic. Some of mine aren’t that long I’ll admit.

I wrote a post about Feedly if you’d like more information so just check that out if you need more help. It’s a great program.

Thank you again and hope college is going well for you. I know you’re super busy now.

Have a wonderful week as well.

Hi Kalina!

I’m glad you find the post useful, and thank you for your wishes; I’m really feeling on top of the world with my first guest post and loving the different experience. :)

I think you’re going on the right track and I’m sure you’re a great blog commenter yourself. I’ve noticed that you too comment from your heart and try to make the post more valuable, and that’s the spirit of blogging, isn’t it?

Yes, blog commenting does become overwhelming at times, but then as you said, with the words of appreciation that you get at the end of the day, you feel happy, refreshed, and worthy!

I’d confess that at times I just go with the flow of my feelings and bypass the mind circuit while commenting, which I feel could be a bit better and to the point if I spend more time writing them, but then time never stops in the blog commenting business, you got to dash and run to reach out to as many blogs as possible, without sacrificing the value you impart.

I started using Feedly a few months back and learned about it from other fellow bloggers, as a substitute for the Google Readers, which was expiring soon, and it’s working great for me.

You’re doing marvelous with all the college pressure you’ve, and we can understand your limitations. In spite of that, you create value through your comments, and have done it here too, for which I must thank you.

Thanks for your time and effort and for this lovely interaction. :)

Excellent Guide Harleena Singh. Every Point you mentioned here must be followed by every blogger. But the fact is many newbie bloggers are not getting the importance of Blog commenting and the results it will give.
Commenting is the only technique that saved my blog after a serious issue with google’s algo update. Apart from all the results of seo it produces, it builds relationships between bloggers on both the ends.
Few months nobody on blogger community kneww me. But today i can say that there are some bloggers who can recognize me(I mean through social media).
I do fear about the spam same as every blogger. And i’m glad that adrienne foud herself a way for that.
And for the last statement by me, You’re also one of my ‘Gurus’ just as how Adrienne is for you.
It’s because of you i learned how to be active on social media.
I’m really glad of your first guest post here. I Hope you will do more in future. :)
Have a good day and bye :) (Sorry that my english is not so good).

Hi Sumanth,

Glad you enjoyed Harleena’s post and could appreciate what she has to share here. I know that most people view commenting only as a way to get more backlinks but little do they know that it can also help with returning traffic and building trust with your readers.

I’m glad to hear that after you were hit hard from Google’s update that you realized how to get back on top and get your blog noticed.

Spam will always be an issue but we’ll eventually find a way to stop them even more. I know that Andy has done a wonderful job with this new addition to CommentLuv Premium.

Thank you for stopping by and sharing this with us both. Enjoy your week okay!

Hi Sumanth,

I’m glad you find the post worthy enough to be called a guide on blog commenting. :)

It’s for the new bloggers and others who want to learn a little more about it, and I’m sure they’ll understand the value of blog commenting reading the views of all the seasoned bloggers on this post, including yourself.

That’s really an important point you’ve mentioned, which probably I forgot to – my blog commenting and the traffic due to the interactions and relationships helped me too to pass through the phases when I was hit by Google updates.

You do get a recognition because of your comments and you’re valued for that. This is really very important for you as a blogger. Your entire business of blogging depends on your image.

Adrienne’s video about the latest update to CommentLuv is really great if you’ve watched it – I’m sure it will take care of all your comment spams.

I’m glad that you could learn from me as well, as I did from Adrienne, and this is what blogging is all about, isn’t it – caring, helping, learning, sharing, teaching and all!

I’d want to add that it’s your intentions that count and matter much than your language – if you’ve a heart of gold, it’ll have the same value no matter where you go! :)

Thank you for the words of appreciation and for sharing your personal thoughts and experiences about blog commenting. I appreciate it. :)

Hello Harleena ma’am,
I’m thinking this is my first comment on a post, that is written you.
I’d learnt many new things in this post, just like having a separate list for blogs and subscribe to their feeds in feedly. I’m hoping to get maximum exposure for my blog through your tips.
Thanks for the great post.

Hi Sriram,

Good to see you here, and I’m SO happy you stopped by here today – yes, the first comment on my guest post. :)

Oh yes…having a separate list does help because you can take up those blogs you want to visit one after the other and don’t really miss out on any. There are some blogs where it becomes tough to subscribe, or some those only have an email option, so go for those instead, it hardly matters. I personally prefer RSS, but if it’s not there, then email works for me. All that matters at the end of the day is that you are able to visit the blogs you want to, and leave your comment, isn’t it?

Thanks so much for taking out the time to stop by here, and I’m glad this post could help you :)

Very complete and thorough piece, Harleena.

You are indeed a blog commenting superstar. I see your comments literally EVERYWHERE and they are always of high quality and extremely substantive.

I too have driven most of my traffic and have built most of the blogging relationships I have today via blog commenting. It’s one of the very best ways to actively engage in daily blog promotion and relationship building.

In fact, I’ve just published a thorough blog commenting tutorial where I share all that I do to make blog commenting work for me as well.

It seems that for many of today’s well-known bloggers that blog commenting was their “claim to fame” and was the first step in the door that they took to climb to blogging super-stardom.

I hope that many of the new bloggers who come across this post realize the significance of blog commenting and take heed to your advice. It will save them a lot of trouble in the long run and add substantial value to their overall brand.

Thanks a bunch, Harleena, for taking the time to write up such a complete piece on blog commenting. And thanks to Adrienne for publishing it!

I’ll definitely be sure to share it with my social circle. :)

Hey Ti,

Glad you enjoyed Harleena’s post today. Pretty awesome stuff right!

I know that you’ve had quite a bit of success as well with commenting Ti so you can appreciate what Harleena has shared here. I think that if new and even seasoned bloggers can just take a little of her advice then it will go a very long way.

I also know that a lot of the very popular bloggers started out this way, that’s how they were recognized too. That says a lot for how this method can really help bloggers get the attention they deserve and start building the relationships so that it can help them in their business as well.

I’m really hoping this post will help all bloggers and I appreciate you adding your thoughts and experiences as well.

Appreciate the shares Ti and have a wonderful week.

Hi Ti,

Well, thank you for saying that and it means a lot coming from you – there’s a lot I need to thank Adrienne for I’d say, which is why I manage to comment like I do :)

Yes indeed, I think blog commenting helps us all in a great way, especially the new bloggers and others too who are on the look out to really build relationships and go beyond just sharing their content or coming up in the search engines.

Nice to know about your blog commenting tutorial, and I’d surely check it out a little later, because blog commenting DOES work, and there are many who’d agree with us there.

I agree with you there, many probloggers do claim that they reached where they are through blog commenting, though some of them slow down with time, or perhaps they really don’t need that kind of fame or prefer concentrating on other things. I do hope this post can help bloggers become better, through the way they comment at other blogs because that’s something we all want – good comments, don’t wel? :)

Thank you for taking out the time to stop by here today, and sharing your experiences with all of us. I do appreciate the shares as well. :)

Without fail, I always mention the name of the post author in any comments I make – it’s just another step towards showing that you’ve read the post and checked who’s written it.

Another thing I often do is to leave the blog and then come back a few minutes later to make my comment. By taking a quick breather like this, you usually find you’re able to contribute something more insightful.

Finally, in relation to comments on my own blog, I actually love it when someone disagrees me. Nothing encourages debate and discussion more than people with contrasting points of view.

Yes, Harleena has made some really good comments about commenting. One thing I couldn’t help but notice was that she advised using only the root domain of your blog in the URL field. For anyone like me, whose blog home page isn’t their website home page, this can be a bit of a pain.

I don’t know about anyone else, but my way around this is to create a subdomain for my blog. In other words, I supply my blog URL as blog.example.com instead of example.com/blog (though I sometimes forget).

Thanks, as ever, for replying.

Hey Kevin,

I know that not everyone uses a root domain so for some it can be an issue but we’re not alone on this topic I’m afraid. I’ve even know several bloggers that realized this so they changed their domain name and redirected it.

Either way if your comment is a good one and on topic you’ll always be welcome here Kevin. I won’t turn anyone away. I’ll only remove links if they aren’t pointing to a blog or they aren’t appropriate sites I want connected with mine. That’s definitely not an issue with you.

Thanks for sharing that.

Hi Kevin,

Nice to meet you at Adrienne’s place :)

Yes indeed, that’s actually the first thing anyone should do, though some commenters who tend to scan through the post, tend to miss this out and address the blog owner instead of the author.

That’s interesting! I’ve never tried that, or perhaps I’d forget all that I’ve read if I left and might have to read the whole post all over again before commenting. Doesn’t it take more of your time this way? Just curious :)

Not everyone must agree with what you write and a healthy discussion is good in a way, provided the other person does it in the right manner, isn’t it? And I think such controversial comments we must put up on our blogs so that others too can learn from it.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your blog commenting tips with us :)

Harleena

I often read blog posts just before or during a coffee break. So leaving the post for a few minutes and then returning to the screen to comment (with mug in hand) works really well for me. It just gives you a few minutes to absorb what the author has said, without making too much of a dent in your time.

Thanks for your reply.

Hello; I appreciate this post a lot. Its almost as if Adrienne chose you just for me. I have been known to write rather long blog posts and comments myself. I sometimes wonder if I don’t get more comments because of my length. Thanks to adrienne i now have a gravitar. That was the only rule i was breaking and didn’t even know I was. And as a blind computer user i always subscribe to blogs I plan to comment on because its just easier than visiting them if there isn’t going to be a new post to read. I have become friends with several blog owners whose sites I comment on. And I subscribed to your blog just now. I look forward to getting to know you. Take care, max

Hi Adrienne; The gravitar is my fault, i didn’t make a note of which email address i used when it worked. and I am glad that my comments are appreciated. I do read your posts, but then I am just not wired to do something just to get the perk. I figure why bother if I’m not going to learn something. and my niche is rather narrow as we both know so like your guest poster I also comment on blogs outside my targeted area. thanks for being such a good example. take care, max

No problem but just go set that email up as well. It’s your main one for your blog so it won’t matter which one you use. That will help you overall you know.

Thank you for sharing that and it’s always a pleasure to hear from you whether you’re in this niche or not. Everyone can learn from my blog if they’re blogging and that’s what’s important. Helping each other out.

Hi Max,

Nice to meet you here at Adrienne’s blog, though as Adrienne mentioned, we miss seeing you :)

Glad you liked the post, and it’s good to know another fellow blogger who writes long :) I don’t think long comments are a reason for not getting comments, as I am living proof of that, and so is Adrienne and a lot of other bloggers who you’d see here itself. I think long posts or comments add more value and they are complete in themselves, aren’t they?

I can understand perhaps a change in your recent email ID might be the reason your Gravatar isn’t showing up, which is SO important for every commenter. It just goes to show you are a real person.

Subscribing to comment is the best thing, though you should either create a separate folder for those mails or your inbox might get flooded with lots of emails (mine used to before I started using RSS). Well, thanks for subscribing to mine as well.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your views about the post. :)

Hi Harleena; Nice to meet you too. I subscribe to blogs because its easier than reading rss files on a cmputer with speech. I like to use the maxwell@midwaymarketplace address because nothing ever ends up in a spam folder there. But i used the aol address this time because i believe it is the email associated with the gravitar. I may just have to let my brother or a friend sign into it and set it for both addresses for me. I have received a few more comments since installing comment luv premium. I think another reason for my long posts and comments is that i grew up in the time of type writers instead of cell phones and im’s. I just recently started texting with the help of a new cell phone that has some speech, but I’m tod I’m horrible at it so far. I look forward to reading your posts. And if you have suggestions for where I can find other blogs to follow, I’d appreciate it. take care, max

Nice to see you now Max :)

I know it can take some time and using a particular email ID that really works with the Gravatar, though I’m glad it’s working for you now.

CommentLuv does help a lot where getting more comments is concerned, and I think the opportunity to leave their links attracts most people, more than anything else, isn’t it?

I can well relate to that…I’ve a tough time writing or texting myself too and rather prefer my laptop or computer more than anything else.

I look forward to meeting you too, and I think if you follow Adrienne’s blog, you’d find lots of blogs to follow as each one of them is wonderful in their own ways.

Awsome post Harleena!

If you understand that Google values conversations, connections and interaction between bloggers you can see that commenting, using your great suggestions, is an important part of successful blogs in the eyes of Google, but also in the eyes of readers, which is really where our focus should be.

Even if Google had nothing to say about it, look at the relationships you’re making using these comment strategies. If you make a comment that tells me something about you, and I like it, I’m going to check you out. That’s a win/win for everyone!

Some people say commenting is a waste of time, well maybe it is for them if they have other strategies that they find work better.

But is it a waste of time for those who use it and use it correctly? No, not at all.

But as with anything you have to use it effectively and Harleena’s tips are awesome! They are spot on for how to develop a commenting strategy that the search engines prefer but more importantly they promote involvement of readers.

When your comments section provides just as much information, ideas and useful tips than the blog post itself, you’ve got it right and I think Adrienne promotes that type of commenting.

But with you Adrienne a lot of what your commenters learn is from your example. You comment to reader’s comments and you include all of Harleena’s tips:

You’re generous by commenting from the heart
You’re intelligent with your comments
You follow the rules and you’re smart by incorporating Google’s suggestions.

You really can’t go wrong with that.

Blessings,
Liz

Hey Liz,

I’m so glad that Google is finally starting to recognize the conversations that are going on in the commenting section. They are finally getting smart to know that when people appreciate good content they’re going to voice their opinions and share it because they like it so much. That’s why I love word of mouth so much which we all know contributes to referral traffic.

You are right though, we shouldn’t do it just because of Google. The relationships you can form and build are so much more valuable in my eyes. They can help you grow your business to levels Google can’t.

I oftentimes laugh when I hear people say that commenting is a waste of time. Just like what I shared in a recent post that people don’t want to comment but wonder how my blog has become so popular. Duh!!!

Ah, thank you so much Liz for sharing that. As I’d mentioned to Harleena I started commenting sharing my experiences. I didn’t think people would care what I had to say so I didn’t know how to really share great information when I started this process. All I could do was share my experiences and I came to learn that’s what people appreciated the most. Now that I get results they definitely appreciate it and I love to help them.

Thank you Liz for your awesome comment and for that wonderful compliment. I so appreciate that and you my friend.

Have a beautiful week now.

Hi Liz,

Absolutely! Google loves ALL of these things, doesn’t it? I just wish more people would understand this fact and really go out there and comment from their hearts :)

I agree with you there – more than Google, it’s the relationships you are building through your comments, which are much more valuable than anything else. You mentioned a great point there about commenting being a win/win for all of us, especially if we are able to connect and relate to each other, isn’t it?

I wonder how blog commenting can ever be a waste of time, but sadly, just as you mentioned, I too have heard some people say that, or perhaps they have other ways of things working for them. All I can say is that it’s done wonders for me and my blog, and I think most of us here would agree with that :)

Adrienne comments too are wholesome, and I’ve always loved her way of commenting and interacting with people, she’s truly an inspiration for many like us. Yes indeed, I think these tips are a lot of what I’ve learnt along the way and they DO work.

Not to mention Liz, that your comments add so much more to the posts too, and I thank you for sharing your commenting tips with all of us here. Have a nice week ahead :)

Welcome!
Adrienne certainly is a commenting superstar. I know the first comment I left here I was shocked by her long, warm reply. Now it’s like I’m gong over to Adrienne’s for some cake and coffee and sit around and chat about blogging. :)

Commenting has done a couple thins for me. It’s certainly brought me more traffic bit like you said, it has allowed me to create friendships with bloggers in my niche that never would have been formed if I hadn’t left a comment.

Want to ask you about one of the “rules” of commenting though. You said to always use only your root domain URL for the website field.

I’ve heard of some people that have set up a special “if this is your first time here” page and they use that for the website URL. It allows new visitors to discover more about the site, what it offers and where they should go.
I thought it was a good idea since most visitors that would come from another sites comments would be new to my site. Was wondering what your thoughts were on that?

I will go over this post again when I get back to my office and make sure I’ve put all these tips into place for future comments!

Hey Kevin,

Great to see you this morning and I appreciate your wonderful comment. I love that you enjoy stopping by here and reading my long posts and what I have to say in the comments too.

That’s wonderful news Kevin, I’m so thrilled that commenting has been very beneficial for your blog. You have a unique niche so I’m sure other people can appreciate what you share as well.

I’ll go ahead and put my two cents worth in here as well as Harleena.

Most bloggers are trying to get their posts ranked higher which is why they put something other then their root domain. A lot of bloggers frown upon that which is why we just prefer having their home page URL instead. If they want people to come to their blog and visit something in particular then perhaps that needs to be set up as their home page and they can direct them accordingly. That’s my opinion anyway so I’m sure Harleena has something to share on this topic as well.

Thank you for your comment Kevin and good to see you this morning. You have a fabulous week okay!

Hi Kevin,

Nice to meet you at Adrienne’s blog :)

I totally agree with you there – she IS a superstar, and it’s her warmth and genuineness that attracts people I think. I like that…cake and coffee and chatting, because that’s exactly how our comments should be as it’s a way for us to convey our feelings about what we want to with the blog owner.

Yes indeed, the benefits of blog commenting cannot be overlooked. Besides the traffic it brings to our blogs, it does help us make new friends and build relationships with fellow bloggers and other commenters too.

Using your root domain or the main link of your blog alone is important because most bloggers don’t really like you trying to insert a blog post link in place of the blog URL, which in a way shows you are trying to insert two links (one this way and one through the CommentLuv link), which no one would appreciate, nor allow I think. I get many bloggers trying to sneak in two links this way, which I either trash, or simply remove their blog post link and let their main blog URL remain, as it ideally should be. Of course, if I know some bloggers personally and if they are using their such links for a reason like they don’t have a blog as such but only a site link and would like to use that, then it’s alright, but not otherwise.

Some bloggers use the ‘first time comment’ kind of page or Landing page with their links therein, which is good if it works for them, and yes, they can add more of their social media links etc, on that page so those people can connect with them there. I guess it all depends on what works for them, and it’s not something I’ve done as yet myself as I’m pretty happy with what I have presently, and I don’t personally like my first time visitors having to go back again on the main post to see if their comments came through or not also.

Well, thank you for taking out more time later and visiting here again. I do hope these blog commenting experiences and tips can help you a wee bit.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your experiences with us – much appreciated :)

Hello Harleena and welcome to Adrienne Smith’s blog :)
Wow!!! It is good seeing your blog post outside your domain. it sure feels good, doesn’t it?
I hate it when i see comments that is off topic, at times i consider those kind of comments as spam and most times i delete those kind comments. As you said; the best way to comment and give value to a post and your personality is by reading the post till end, find what the writer left out, answer the question the writer ask and write your comment around it and your comment will come out good.
If your comment is brilliant, you will not only get good engagement from the blog owner, you will also get traffic from that particular blog :) .

You are the comment superstar and all bloggers who know you are truly amaze on how you do it :) . Your tips are correct and right on point which i know every blogger would find valuable.

Thanks for this lovely post and do have a blessed week start both of you :)

I’m so happy to have Harleena here today and so honored that this is her first guest post. I have a feeling this will just open more doors for her now. She has so much to share on some many wonderful topics.

I know what you mean and I delete a lot of comments that come by here and have absolutely no value whatsoever. It’s really a shame but with this new plugin feature I’m able to send them a message letting them know why they aren’t going through. I do wish that people would take your advice and read the post all the way through to the end and then contribute to the best of their ability.

Thank you for your comment and it’s good to see you today. You have a wonderful week as well and thank you again. ;-)

Hi Babanature,

Thank you SO much for the warm welcome, I am indeed excited to be here, and a little nervous too :)

You bet it is…lol…and the experience too I’d add is wonderful being a guest this time. I agree with you there, such kind of spam comments are real put offs, and it’s best to trash them without giving it a second thought.

I think that’s the way most bloggers usually comment and those who don’t, I hope they can take back something from this post. I guess it only makes sense to read the post fully, even if it takes a little of your time, and then address the author of the post, and comment as if you are talking to the person – makes it more personal I’d add, isn’t it?

Oh yes…you DO get a lot of backlinks and people notice your comments. I can vouch for that once again as the places where my comments are among the first few, I do get backlinks from there, so it’s a win-win situation for both sides. More than that, you are connecting and reaching out to people, which matters most.

Thank you SO much for saying that Babanature, though I know it’s not me but Adrienne who is far beyond and someone I look up to. I marvel at her comment speed and how she manages to handle so much, so fast. I still have a lot to learn from her and I’m glad she’s there to teach us all about it. Have a nice week ahead :)

Hi Harleena!

What a great resource you developed here for newbies like me. I feel a bit overwhelmed at times…okay almost all the time lately, and don’t comment nearly as much as I should or would like to.

I do make a point to always catch up with Adrienne’s blog though and always enjoy the reading through the post AND comments.

There is something about Adrienne’s posts and comments that “feels” like a festive atmosphere. It’s a great way to start a day. And it was cool to your your name up in lights today too! Congratulations on your guest post!

And since you opened a can of worms – for me at least – do either you and/or Adrienne, or anyone else have a post/suggestions/guidelines for backlinks etc.? It’s one area I still haven’t wrapped my head around.

I get these weird so-called spam comments in WP and some look they are things I shared myself elsewhere?

Thanks again Harleena and Adrienne.

Have a great week!

Hi Darrell,

Glad you loved what Harleena had to share. Great stuff right!

Don’t be overwhelmed my friend, just comment from the heart. That’s something you’re very good at doing anyway Darrell.

I’m glad you enjoy my posts and even the comments too. I know there can be quite a few at times and it’s time consuming to get through but I appreciate you taking the time. That means a lot.

What exactly do you need to know about backlinks? Are you asking which ones are allowed or what? Not quite sure what it is you need to know. Perhaps Harleena can answer that one for you.

Always great to see you Darrell and you have a wonderful day and week okay!

Hi Darrell,

Well, thank you SO much for saying that, though I keep learning something every single day, so we are all learners I’d say :)

I can well understand how overwhelming it can get at times because that happens with me too at times. But I think you just take it slow and steady and comment from your heart, which you are already so good at. Yes, blog commenting does take time, but then who said it was easy! It’s better to take our time and add more value to the post than to just leave 1 liners and end it all up, isn’t it?

Oh yes…I think we ALL land up at Adrienne’s blog for sure and enjoy the comments too, and the whole post, including the comments, adds so much to increase our knowledge.

Thanks for your wishes Darrell, it’s indeed a pleasure and honor to be invited by Adrienne, and although I am excited, I’m a wee bit nervous too, being on the other side for the first time :)

I’m not sure about what you meant by backlinks, but what’s worked all this while for me has been blog commenting, and of course sharing the post on the various social media sites – those too bring a lot of traffic to my blog. Yes, both of these DO take time and effort, but it’s worth it I’d say. Hope this helps.

Oh yes…those spammers tend to copy and paste your own comments from some place or use comments used elsewhere on other sites, for which you can just paste their comments on Google and make out if it’s copied from somewhere. I do that and trash some comments immediately, and blacklist such commenters.

Thanks for taking out your precious time to stop by here today. Have a nice week ahead :)

Hi Harleena,

I have always noticed that you managed to be first to comment here so I was very interested to read your guest post to learn your tips.

I can say that I follow all the “rules” that you mention although I have to say that my responses to comments are nowhere as lengthy as you or Adrienne seems to manage to make. I have been studying her style to see if I can improve on mine.

Although you say “when you comment on other blogs, generally those blog owners reciprocate by commenting on your blog too. So that creates engagement and brings traffic to your blog” I find that although it seems to apply to internet marketing blogs it does not seem to apply to my detox blog. ( I do note that your blog is not IM and you do have a health section).

For some reason although I used to get some comments I don’t now even though I ask question in my post and also encourage my subscribers to comment. I used to get a lot more traffic before the Google Panda & Penguin but I’m not sure that is the whole reason.

I did have CommentLuv premium installed but that did not bring in a lot of comments either as I didn’t find that many other health niche blog used it. It got removed when I changed my blog to a Genesis framework and my WP expert removed a lot of plugins that he considered were not vital.

I will be interested to know if you have any tips for me on this?

Hi Sandy,

Harleena is a pro at being first here. As she mentioned, she has the time difference on her side and knows when my post goes live so she makes it a point to stop by quickly. She’s so smart.

I’m just very long winded at times Sandy so if I have a lot to say I do and if I don’t then I don’t. I think as long as you’re being genuine then that’s what is the most important.

I also agree that not all blogs get a lot of comments because most of the people reading them don’t have blogs themselves so they don’t really know that they even should comment. I have seen some health blogs though that do get a lot of interaction.

Whenever Google does their untimely updates that can be the culprit of less traffic if you were penalized in any way. Now not all traffic is from the search engines so I would assume you’re visiting plenty of health related blogs and sharing your thoughts as well? Not everyone is great at commenting, that can be a bit issue at times.

As far as removing CommentLuv Premium from you detox blog, I think that has to be your choice Sandy and not your “WP expert”. Just my opinion on that subject but what do I know right! lol…

Thanks for your comment and I know Harleena will have plenty to share as well.

Have a great week.

Hi Sandy!

Yes, I had been lucky enough to be among the first commenters on Adrienne’s blog, and as I said earlier, I attribute the difference in the time zone to be the main reasons that helped me. But I’d not hide the fact, that it also helped me. So, I guess now that you know, you might want to try it out to see the difference. :)

I’m too amazed at how Adrienne manages her comments – they’re not only long and wholesome, but she’s just SO fast! She’s truly gifted there I’d say and a natural blog commenting superstar!

Having said that, it’s not at all necessary to have long comment to be noticeable. You can create your own different style – you can try to be as short as possible and say it all in a few words – it all depends from person to person. Choose any way of commenting you like, as far as it contributes in a special way.

As a rule, I like to thank all visitors to my blog by visiting their blogs or sites. I think from the “courtesy” point of view- most seasoned bloggers do this, or they should if they don’t already. It’s actually a good practice that increases engagement and your reach. I’ve also seen some bloggers not reciprocating, and that’s generally taken as a sign of lack of interest on the other blogger to develop a relationship, and we should quietly and peacefully leave it at that. I even visit blogs that are not of my niche, and I don’t care if Google doesn’t like that because for me relationships matter most.

I hope you’re leveraging the social media to the maximum – I get most of my traffic from Facebook and Pinterest (surprisingly!) and I’m very active on Google+ and Triberr too, besides Twitter and other places. While some of my blog commenters are driven from these social media, most of my commenters are other bloggers, who reciprocate my visits to their blog. So, I’d suggest you pump up your blog commenting, develop more relationships, and then you might’ve a good flow of comments to your blog. And, once it starts, others join in.

I’d say CommentLuv is an incentive for the blog commenters, and it makes a difference. As far as I know, you can have CommentLuv on any WordPress theme or framework, however, you can even develop relationships of mutual interest and exchange without it and even on non-health niches, if you don’t find many health related ones to comment on. Even the techies and bloggers need good knowledge and information on health, isn’t it?

I hope I’ve been of help to you, and hope you enjoyed the post. :)

Thank you so much for coming over and sharing your heart out. I appreciate it very much. :)

Hi Harleena and Adrienne,

Adrirenne, I’ve got to tell you this, Again, before I read the name “Harleena” I knew who it was you were going to mention. I swear, same as last time before I read the name “Dee Ann”, I knew would you were going to name :) What’s up with that?

Harleena, the other day, I called Adrienne Harleena :) So today it wouldn’t matter how I mixed things up, right?

Yes, Harleena it’s very hard to beat you on a blog post as you are always on top. I have to agree that a lot has to do with the time the blog is published, but also being organized and available.

I’m like you, there are some comments that I’d rather not have as they are useless and upset me. Now I sure delete these type of comments, even on the blogs where I would really be glad to have more comments.

It makes sense to be smart about commenting on a post, and make sure your comment makes sense and as error free as possible. I always edit my comments.

Ahah, Harleena will be my guest very soon on my personal development, so she is on a guest blogging wagon right now.

Thanks for this great post, Harleena and you both have a great day!

Hey Sylviane,

I love that Sylviane that you’ve known who I was speaking about these last few times.

You can’t go wrong on this post calling either of us a different name, that’s so funny Sylviane. lol…

I agree, some comments aren’t worth publishing and some people do just do they’ll look like they have more comments. I get those on each post so if I published them all, minus the spam, there would be plenty more but if they can’t contribute to the conversation then I’s just rather not have them here.

I have a feeling she’s going to be guest posting a lot more now so that would be awesome having her over at your place. I hope to see one of those posts soon.

I appreciate your comment Sylviane and thanks for stopping by today. Enjoy your week.

Hi Sylviane,

Ah…how could you make out! I guess you surely have your sub-conscious guiding you here as well :)

That would indeed be an honor to be called Adrienne, but we both know – she is the one and only of her kind – poles apart from a lot of us, isn’t she?

I agree with you there, my time zones do play up, or I guess I’m just lucky to be around that time, while there are many blogs where I land up late because they don’t suit my time zones, so a lot depends on that I’d say.

Yes indeed, having spammy or useless comments makes no sense and such commenters should be black listed. I sure am glad Andy’s new update on CommentLuv would take care of all those issues.

Editing your comments only makes sense, especially if they are a little long. I sometimes use MS Word for my long ones because I catch those errors right away!

Absolutely! I’ve just about started, though I don’t think I can handle more than one guest post per month…slow and steady does it for me :)

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your tips with us. I appreciate that :)

Hi Adrienne and Harleena

Did i hear you say this is your first guest post ever or this is your first guest post on Adrienne’s blog?
No! I’m being curious because the relationship, connection and traffic you drove to your blog is just like you’ve written dozens of guest post. Well if I’m mistaken I’d love to know.

I must confess, I’ve been admiring your comments right from the first day i came acorss your comment on Onenaijablog and it’s has really inspired me, not until when I met Adrienne and she also gave me a boost.

Don’t mind me but I won’t call your comment a comment but I’ll call them a guest post in the comment field and I’m sure you saw the compliment I gave you in my previous post. Your comments are really epic and it’s a good way of commending visitors and creating connections with them. This is the number 1 thing I noticed in Adrienne, upon the hundreds of comments she welcomes on her blog, she always reply to “ALL” which is best, I’ve come across blogs with barely quarter of her’s but they ignore their readers.

The tips you mentioned are outstanding and I don’t think i have any 2 cent for this post. It’s the best strategy you’re using and if it’s working for you, it’ll definitely work for folks out there.
I might not have a large following but I’ll definitely share it. Have a great week both you you.

Hi Gilbert,

This is her first guest post ever and I’m honored to have her here at my place. It’s that cool?

Harleena is definitely someone everyone should admire. I agree that her comments are like mini reports or books. She just really goes above and beyond to share everything she possibly can to contribute to the post. She outdoes me all the time and I even consider myself to be very long winded at times. I just admire what she shares and it’s obvious that she takes the time to really contribute to the conversation. That’s just outstanding in my book.

I know you’ve benefited from having her comment on your blog as well. Harleena also takes the time to respond to all her comments as well. Even being as busy as she is.

Thank you for your comment and we always appreciate the shares. Don’t worry Gilbert, your following will increase with time. Just keep up the great work.

Enjoy your week.

Hi Gilbert!

This IS my first ever guest post ever. :)

And I’m lucky that this post is on Adrienne’s blog, and I don’t know if I’ll have a next one ever here because I know there are lots and lots of many others who’d want this honor that she gracefully bestowed on me.

Well, I was talking about the relationships and connections that I developed through blog commenting in my blogging career, and the traffic that I attracted to my blog by being one of the first commenters.

Thanks for appreciating my comments, and I too join you in marveling at Adrienne’s comments – that is really superstar stuff, isn’t it?

Ah! I didn’t want to add this in my guest post here, but yes some of my comments do turn into mini posts in themselves, and believe me I don’t intend to do that in the first place but it just happens! I guess when I start writing the comment, I don’t have any control over myself and my thoughts! Lol…:)

Yes, blog commenting can be really overwhelming when you tend to write those epics, but I confess that Adrienne is better off than me when it comes to replying to comments on her own blog. I take my own time to take care of comments as my family is a priority for me too, and I prefer replying to the comments in breaks or a little later once I share it on the various platforms, and after I comment on those who comment on mine, but I do take care to come back and reply to each one with time. But hats off to Adrienne at how she manages to reply instantly to all comments on her blog!

I’m sure the blog strategies mentioned in the post will work for you and I appreciate you for sharing this post with your followers – it’s not the number of followers but your feelings and intention that matter most. :)

Thank you for your comment and your views, they surely add value to the post. :)

Hi Adrienne,

Great person to guest post for you this month, and it’s her first ever….

Hi Harleena,

great to see you over here posting rather than the top comment, but I see you’ve achieved both this time…. Surely that’s a double first…. Congratulations on your first guest post :)

I’ve always taken my hat off to you Harleena for your comments always relate to the post in full and share your views and experiences.

You’ve certainly given everyone an insight into how you apply yourself to commenting.

Like you, when I comment I try to relate to the whole post and share my views or experiences on the subject and if there are any tips I can offer I’ll do so. Commenting from the heart and mind comes naturally that way.

I don’t display my comment rules any more as I found some sneaky SEO bandits trying to work around them causing me more work. By not displaying them I find I can spot offenders quicker and deal with them accordingly.

To be honest, I don’t read comment rules on other blogs either. I simply apply my own rules to every blog I visit and treat the bloggers with the same respect I expect at my place….

With Google I had to learn the hard way…. When I started blogging I’d get all woopy doo when I received a comment and I had no idea about the harm spam comments could do, nor did i know many of them were spam.

It was after writing a product review that I searched for it on Google and couldn’t find it, whilst at the same time I was number 2 on Bing and Yahoo. I scratched my head but couldn’t figure out what I had done wrong….

I had all that time off so when I came back I started with a spring clean. Broken links, bad images and poor spammy comments were what I focused on.

I started at my first post and cleaned every post from there, removing over 200 comments that were either spam or dead links and after a few days I checked for the review again and BINGO it was now appearing :)

I had no idea that bad comments could affect my blog in this way so now I’m extra careful.

My problem lately is finding the time to comment as much as I should and I’m even guilty of not returning the comments. But I do make a point of starting on those blogs first when I can get some time to comment and I’m aware of it and aim to fix it as best i can…

Thanks for sharing your tips and views here Harleena, congratulations once again on your first guest post…. and being the first to comment as well :)

Have a great week Harleena and Adrienne.

Respect and regards to you both.

Hey Barry,

Yeah, awesome guest post today isn’t it? I’m so honored to have Harleena here sharing her knowledge with my readers.

Sorry you’ve had issues with SEO bandits doing harm with your commenting rules. Huh, I’ve never had that issue so that’s strange. I think for me I would have people email me asking me why their comment wasn’t approved so this way there was no doubt why. I just send them to that page and be done with having to explain each time.

I know about the spring cleaning as well Barry. After Google had hit me I went through my blog from the beginning and removed broken links and comments that I should have never approved in the first place. I was naive back then and just didn’t know any better like a lot of people starting out. The next update I got flying colors so I knew what I needed to stay on top of.

I know you’re very busy with several other sites you’re involved in now but we both know that down the road if you ignore your readers and your blog when the time comes and you need them both it’s going to be starting from square one once again.

Thank you for sharing this with us Barry and you have a wonderful week as well. Good luck with everything. ;-)

Hi Barry!

Lol… you made me smile because I didn’t think from that point of view – yes, it’s a double bonanza for me! :)

Thank you for appreciating my comments, all I do is try to be honest, helpful, and give my complete feedback and reaction to the post. Not to mention, that your comments are awesome ones always – right from your heart too!

Yes, you’re right, commenting comes naturally once you let yourself loose and let your heart and mind take over you. One tip I’d share is that never look at the clock when commenting, as that’ll obstruct your flow of thoughts and words. :)

I do appreciate your comments and they are indeed full of value from your own life experiences, and that to me is like gold!

I too haven’t got the commenting rules up on my blog. I believe, as I mentioned in the post, that there are certain basic rules that are out of courtesy and etiquette, which every blogger should know. Rules are only for the spammers and link baiters, and they don’t return to my blog once they experience that their comment is trashed.

Talking about myself, I did read the rules for commenting on blogs in my initial few months of blogging and that’s how I got to be aware of them, but now I don’t because I know I’ll never do any wrong. Those with a good heart can only treat others well, and you’re one of them Barry! :)

Well, experience is our biggest teacher, isn’t it? We all learn some or the other things the hard way. I think I learned from other bloggers and their posts about how and which kind of spammers are harmful and which comments to avoid.

Wow! That’s really a great story of dealing with bad comments. Thanks for sharing your experience with spam comments as new bloggers really need to know the extent of harm they can cause. It is so important to check the links in your blog, and other blogs too – you can control the links you’ve with you but not the ones you leave on other blogs, so one needs to be careful of where to comment.

You’re not the only one to have difficulty in finding the time to comment. And that becomes more of a problem looking at the nature of our comments. :) I too feel guilty at times for not being able to reply to many of the comments on my own posts.. Time moves so fast and it’s so difficult to catch up! But I do come back to most of them after a while! God, I’m not Adrienne! ;)

However, you do make up and I appreciate your visit to on my blog. I know it’s difficult for you to take out time, and that makes me happier as I know I’d been one of the few lucky ones you chose to comment on! :)

Thank you for your wishes and for your lovely comment that is so full of wisdom. I respect your thoughts and feelings, and value them a lot! :)

Harleena,

This is such a wonderful post and nobody but only you can write it. And what a perfect place to publish this post of yours! Adrienne Smith has been rocking the blogosphere with her engagement and you, Harleena is truly a commenting queen.

I’m pretty sure that I came to know about you through your comment on one of my blog posts. And yes, you are there on pretty much all the blogs that I read; that too on one of the top spots.

I know it takes lot of commitment, time, patience and hard work to be able to do this consistently. And yes, as you’ve mentioned, I can see the positive waves when I read your comments – that’s certainly something that I must appreciate because whenever I read a post that teaches others how to drive traffic using blog commenting, one tip is most commonly shared – “do controversial comments” or “start up a disagreeing conversation” – you know, doing this just for the sake of getting attention and driving traffic MIGHT work, but is unethical, in my opinion.

To me, backlinks and traffic come next. I always value relationships! I can still remember my initial days of blogging when I started not knowing anyone and how I became friends with so many people – I did this through blog commenting and guest blogging! My blog and my online business wouldn’t be what it is now without all the precious connections I’ve developed over the time.

Thanks for sharing your secrets with us Harleena and thanks Adrienne for hosting her :)

Cheers,
Jane.

Hi Jane,

Thank you for your kind comment for both Harleena and myself. I’m so honored to have her today and for sharing this fabulous post with us.

I can appreciate that too, not writing controversial posts or comments just to get more attention. I also find that unethical as well and I don’t want to stir things up for the sake of getting short term attention. That type is never a good thing in my book at least.

Thank you for sharing where you are now and how you got there Jane. That just proves that building relationships through commenting is never a waste of time. Those that think it is are just so sadly mistaken.

I appreciate your comment and thank you so much for stopping by today and sharing this with us. We both greatly appreciate your visit.

Hi Jane!

So good to see you over here at Adrienne’s! I’m so glad that you like the post- means a lot coming from you :)

Yes, you bet, no better place than Adrienne’s blog for me to launch my guest posting and that too with a post on blog commenting, which for me is all about Adrienne herself! She’s the queen, I’d rather settle for the pawn’s post. ;)

It really takes me all the you mention to try to be everywhere, and that’s what I want to convey to all the new bloggers out there that they should not take blogging as an easy job – at least for me it’s not been easy, I confess. Yet, I try, and I’m lucky at times, but it can get overwhelming if you don’t plan out your day or how you’re going to do what, isn’t it?

I’ll go with you on this – be ethical and comment purely from your heart. You really don’t have to resort to tricks and other wrong ways. People go to extreme to put in their links all over the post if you aren’t careful – just for traffic. I want all new and old bloggers to know that you really don’t need to do this. Just work a bit harder and smarter, but don’t play the clever tricks that are not ethical. Be good, positive, and helpful! That is something people will notice more than anything else.

I value your preference and resolution to go for the relationships. Thanks for testifying the benefits of blog commenting and what all good it can do for you and your blog. Hats-off to you Jane the way you’ve come up and secured a respectful place for yourself in the blogosphere! I marvel at the way you have managed your personal life with your blogging life, which I know isn’t easy, especially as you have a small son to take care of too. :)

Thanks so much for coming over and sharing such wonderful lessons and experiences of blog commenting. I really appreciate it very much. :)

Commenting like blogging takes time, skill and talent. It isn’t easy to always find a relevant comment after you follow a 100 or so comments. I find that if you, as you said, at that point just speak from the heart you will be heard and your comment will be appreciated.

Your tips are spot on. As I considered what you’ve said I found myself unable to add any suggestions. That may be partly due to the fact that I am just 1 1/2 into the blogging world and I am still learning as I go. It’s people like you and Adrienne that I am grateful for because I feel I am able to gain a bunch and then grow through and from your collective experiences. Thank you for that.

Hey Susan,

I know what you mean and commenting can be time consuming especially when you’re visiting several blogs a day. Just speaking from the heart and being genuine to me is the best you can do.

Harleena has really shared so much with us here and I know what you mean by trying to find something to add. I think you’re doing a wonderful job Susan so just keep doing what you’re doing young lady.

We appreciate your visit so thank you for stopping by this morning and do have a wonderful week.

Hi Susan,

It sure does, and blog commenting is not as easy as it seems. But just as Adrienne mentioned, if you are commenting from your personal experience and share what’s there in your heart, it doesn’t take much other than a few extra minutes. I agree with you about leaving a relevant comment after many have had their say, but that again would be different from what you have to say, isn’t it? Because we all so different from one another and we all can easily contribute to what’s written.

Ah…that’s wonderful to know, and I’m sure with time you’d learn. I guess if you are a regular visitor at Adrienne’s blog, you’d just get better with time. :)

Yes indeed, if we can learn from each others experiences, share our knowledge and help each other in the best possible way, what more would we want.

Thanks for your kind words and visit, we do appreciate it a great deal :)

Hi Harleena

Congratulations on your first guest post!

You made some good points. I particularly liked what you said about “commenting from the heart.” Like you, I have to trash quite a few comments that are totally irrelevant to my blog post. Frustrating!

By the way, I enjoy your long comments as much as I enjoy Adrienne’s blog posts ;)

Hi Shan,

Thanks for sharing this and I’m so glad you enjoy my long blog posts because I can get rather long winded at times. My comments can be that way too. Harleena though I think has me beat now. All the more power to her.

Thanks Shan and have a great week.

Hi Shan,

Nice to meet you at Adrienne’s place :)

Thank you for your kind wishes, it’s indeed an honor and absolute pleasure to be here today :)

Heartful comments have always worked for me, and they’re almost like a heart to heart chat I’m having with the blog owner. Yes, some comments we have to trash if they are irrelvant and meaningless – no other way out. I hope this post can help those bloggers in some way so that they can learn better blog commenting ways.

Ah…thank you for saying that, and though I feel guilty at times for my long comments and my long posts, but I guess that’s just being me!

Thanks for stopping by Shan and sharing your views with us :)

Harleena,

These are some great points! For me, blog commenting is one of those things that just feels like a natural extension of something I would do anyway, which is to read your post.

I really enjoy blog hopping and reading what others have to say and I learn quite a bit new stuff that I can use too! So, for me – it really doesn’t take that much extra time to leave a comment and let someone know that I got value from their content or to add my opinion or even something extra that they might have left out.

You’ve reminded me in this post that I need to add a comment policy to my new blog because while I love getting comments – I really get irked by the folks that leave those one liners that are so obviously just a ploy for a backlink… Don’t they know that the link itself doesn’t count for much in terms of SEO and that it’s more about the traffic you’d receive from people who find value in your comment?

Looks like that will be my project for today and nice first guest post on Adrienne’s blog Harleena!

Hey Hermine,

Great to see you here and thanks for visiting Harleena’s first guest post.

I appreciate you sharing with us what blog commenting means to you and how you go about this as well. We all love to learn what others are doing and what kind of luck they’re having as well.

I think that it’s obvious that with the way things change with Google that some of these spammers aren’t quite up on how these links really work now. Maybe that’s another thing we need to share in our commenting rules too. Not that they’ll read them but I’m loving this new addition to CommentLuv Premium so I’m able to send them a message to let them know why their comment isn’t being approved.

Thank you for your comment and don’t work too hard on those commenting rules.

Hi Hermine,

I’m glad you find the post worthy. :)

I like the way you put it that blog commenting is like a natural extension of the post, which is so true.

Indeed, as I mentioned in the post, I ALWAYS read the comments whenever I read the post even for research purposes for my articles, and most of the time I find valuable information that isn’t there in the article itself or even in other articles!

I agree with you that blog hopping is really interesting and helpful. The blogosphere has become a repository of such immense and useful information that you really get addicted to it! The fact that you comment to let people know how their post had helped you is a great thing you do, and that makes you a good blogger.

You know, I tackle some of the spam comments using the features of CommentLuv. In there, I fill in a requirement of a minimum number of words and time spent on the post, and other conditions in order for the commenters to post the comment. So, I guess this dissuades many humans and bot comment spammers too. Hermine, I too don’t have a comment policy on my blog because I feel that there’s nothing extra or special that I want as my comment rules except the basic ones that every blogger should know. But no harm, and all the better if you’ve one; I guess I’m just a bit lazy to have one. ;)

Yes, I’m careful in approving the links in the comments because I don’t want my readers and visitors to be duped and sent to places that are not worth visiting.

You really said a lot in your comment and I really appreciate your visit to stop by and read my post. Take care. :)

Hi Harleena, How lovely to see you here at Adrienne’s place! When I read that her article today was a guest post by a commenting superstar, I thought, “Well, it better be Harleena!” Sure enough, you’re here!

Thanks so much for spelling out the secrets to your success. You’re right, you have mastered the art of blog commenting. You not only give quality, you give quantity as well. Your comments are generally at the top of the list and are meaningful and thoughtful.

I like how you explained how to follow the rules, not only of the blogger but of Google as well. You are taking the time to comment, so why not make them count?

I also like how you included the importance of sharing on social media. I have been to quite a few blogs lately that didn’t have any sharing buttons. Generally bloggers really appreciate sharing and that’s another thing you do so well.

Harleena is a pro in this area and I’ve even learned from her. To say she learned from me as my granddad always use to say, we’ve learned from each other. I would just share my experiences but she goes above and beyond that. I’m so impressed.

Thank you for your comment Carolyn and I appreciate you stopping by. Have a wonderful week now.

Hi Carolyn!

It’s so nice to meet you here, in a different way today! :)

I can’t ever forget and I’d like to tell everyone that Carolyn was the first ever guest blogger on my blog, and I did learn so many things from you. :)

I’m just so happy to be here with my first ever guest post, and I’d say there’s only one commenting superstar, and that’s Adrienne! But thanks for giving me such regard, and I respect your warm feelings and kindness.

My success is an open book, with all ingredients spelt out in the blogging posts on my blog, this post, and my comments everywhere. I believe a true blogger shouldn’t have any secrets and they should be like the open source code in programming, where others are free to learn and use them and take it up from there to create their own successes. (I hope I got that tech bit right!). Blogging is all about sharing and helping, isn’t it?

Yes, I do comment a lot, but haven’t mastered the art as well as Adrienne where speed is concerned- she’s super fast! I do like to give quality and make my comments complete and wholesome. It takes a bit of planning to be at the top of the comments on different blogs, and I bet anyone can do it!

Well, though Google is not God, but we need to accept the fact that it calls the shots on the Internet and the blogosphere presently, and we can’t ignore it. So, why not be a bit smarter as well, besides being good, intelligent, and helpful.

I wonder why some people don’t have the social sharing buttons on their blogs, as those really help spread your post to people whom you don’t know but they might benefit from your content. In fact, the majority of my blog traffic is thanks to these social buttons, I’d say.

I’d like to add that some bloggers do comment but don’t share the posts on the social media – I wonder why? I think all bloggers should’ve a big heart and help each other out by spreading the word around. It hardly costs you anything, instead gives so much to the blogger and others too who might find that post useful.

I believe in sharing and caring, and I do what I believe in. :)

Thanks so much for your comment, your experiences and observation, which should benefit all the bloggers. I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. :)

Hello ladies!

Harleena now that I think about it, I haven’t come across any guest post of your but I just thought I was looking in the wrong places :) . I’m surprised you don’t have other bloggers emailing your about doing guest post! Well, you could not have picked a better blog or person to do a guest post for.

I’ve often wondered about your blogging success and I had an idea your blogging comments played a key role. Thank you for explaining it in detail. I know there are folks out there who think commenting is a waste of time (I’m glad Adrienne addressed it last week) but I hope they took time to read your post and finally realize what they get out of leaving valuable and genuine comments.

I also have a Feedly account but I also made a list of my favorite bloggers with the days of the week on an excel sheet. I try and keep up with their posting days so I make sure to visit all of them.

I wouldn’t have anything to add as I’m following the advice of great bloggers like you, Adrienne, and some others I admire. But I can say that by following that advice, it has had positive results and like you I have made some great blogging friends, which to me is the best benefit of all.

Awesome post Harleena! Happy Monday Adrienne, Harleena, I hope yours was a great one!

Hey Cori,

I’m glad that this is not only her first one but here at my blog too. I’m so blessed and honored that she’s sharing her expertise over here with my readers. Isn’t that the coolest thing?

Harleena goes above and beyond the normal commenting structure and really adds so many elements to her comments. I’m so glad she shared that with us today and we can all learn from this, me included.

That’s a really cool system you have there Cori and maybe I need to put something like that in place as well. Of course my first priority is responding to my own comments so by the time I do I’ve missed everyone’s post bright and early in the morning. I’ll never be the first one there I’m afraid and that’s why.

Thank you for sharing that Cori and I appreciate that so much. You are doing really well yourself young lady so you can add yourself to that amazing list of great blog commenters. ;-)

Thank you again and enjoy your day and week.

Hi Corina,

How would you, when this is my very first one! :)

Oh you bet…there are several who keep asking me to write guest posts for them, but I guess I was just taking my own sweet time. But how could I ever refuse when Adrienne asked me a few months back to be her guest, and I just thought it was time now to start off with guest blogging as one’s heard so much about it, something that every blogger must do.

Thank you for saying that Corina, though I don’t think I’m all that successful – there’s a lot more to it than meets the eye. But I’m a very content and happy person with the way things are going I’d say, couldn’t have asked for more.

Yes, blog commenting is the one thing that’s surely worked for me. I think it’s the wonderful relationship I’ve built along the way with ALL of you that’s really helped me reach where I am today. I agree with you there, some bloggers DO think it’s a waste of time, or perhaps they use the search engines and other ways to drive traffic to their blogs and don’t really feel the need to build relationships any longer. Not everyone believes in it, so each one to his/her own I’d say. We do just what works for us, and blog commenting rocks!

I like your idea about creating an excel sheet, something that I’ve been wanting to do also for a long time. Glad you reminded me of it, and I can just see that list getting longer by the day already!

I too am so privileged to have met such wonderful bloggers like you and so many others that my blogging journey seems so complete already.

Thanks SO much for stopping by and sharing your wonderful blogging tips with us, which are surely going to help a lot of other bloggers. Have a lovely week ahead as well :)

Hi Aman,

Welcome to Adrienne’s blog, and thank you so much for taking out the time to stop by here today :)

Ah…I know most people relate me with my long comments, something that I can’t really help I’d say, or it comes rather naturally to me.

I think when we reach out and connect with others, we make a sincere effort to build relationships with them, and there can be nothing better than that, especially when we are all in the same blogosphere, isn’t it?

I wouldn’t say I am a blog commenting superstar – that crown belongs to Adrienne always, but yes, I’ve learnt most of my ways from her and I’m still learning so much. I guess learning should never stop, isn’t it?

I do hope people can take back something from this post where commenting on blogs is concerned. I think it’s the value you add through your comments that should matter more than anything else. Oh yes…not that I’ve started guest posts, I’d be taking them up, but slowly – no rush :)

Thanks SO much for your kind visit, and for sharing this post with your friends as well. We appreciate it a great deal :)

Hello Adrienne,
I have known Herleena for sometime and I know she does a tremendous job not only in her comments, but also in every blog post she writes anywhere. I once commented on one of her blog posts and she came back with a response which would have easily taken her 10 minutes to think and type. I was amazed!
@Harleena – Thank you for sharing your insights. The great thing about this post is, you exemplify what you shared here. However, why do you think comments are supposed to help in SEO? In fact, the keyword density is deteriorated with a lot of comments on the page as comments do not worry about your keywords. Isn’t that true? Please throw some light on that if you don’t mind.
Regards,
Kumar

Hi Kumar!

Nice to meet you here at Adrienne’s place too. Thanks for your kind words and the appreciation. :)

I always try to suggest what I do or can follow, and the same goes about blog commenting. As I’m no genius, I only learn through my experiences and share them with everyone. I don’t see any reason why I shouldn’t help anyone if I’ve the solution or a good suggestion to share.

Coming to the comment in SEO – Well, probably that’s one secret I didn’t share in this post, and am glad you came up with this question so I can share what I know with everybody.

The tip is to use your keyword in the comments in a natural way. If the commenters too use it knowingly or unknowingly, that’s an added bonus for you. So, in that way, your keyword density doesn’t deteriorate. I think it also helps the SEO if people of your niche authority come and comment on your post – I’m sure Google recognizes this fact. Also, now with Googles updates, you are as a tis not overdoing your SEO in your posts, so it’s well taken care of.

I hope I’ve been able to answer your question :)

Thank you for your visit and your efforts to create more value in the post, I appreciate it. :)

Harleena! It is so good to see you here on Adrienne’s Blog!!!

I always notice you are the first to comment on my blog and that is important. I love your comments because I know you do read the content, comment on it, and do put your 2 cents in.

I just love it when you do that. You add to the discussion of comments that improve my blog. I’ve seen you around other blogs and love to read your comments. So to me, you are the comment superstar! Yes it is true Harleena!

We have to read the blog post, give a few paragraphs in our comment and respond to the call to action the blogger wants us to take when commenting. And yes, what you said about coming from the heart is most important of all. This is how one gets noticed on the comment section of a blog.

From there, we can make good relationships not only with the blog we visit, but there are many people who do read through comments and if they like what they see, they will come to your blog. It has happened to me over and over again.

You know I am a firm believer of commenting! So are you and Adrienne. I don’t even accept those one liners from people that try to comment on my blog because I know they are not really interested and may want to use it for a back-link.

This is great advice as usual Harleena, and I’ll see you on your blog soon.

Hi Donna,

Surprise! So glad to have Harleena here today with her fabulous post about commenting.

Thank you for sharing with us what you do Donna and I know you’re a lot like the both of us. You do take the time to really put your heart into your comments and you won’t stand for people who are just over at your place for the backlinks. I just wish more people really appreciated the art of commenting and how far it can really take them. I know everyone has their opinions but it’s obvious that this art form works for a lot of bloggers and I’m glad Harleena shared what definitely works for her.

Thank you for commenting today and always lovely to see you young lady. Have a good week.

Hi Donna,

It sure is good to see you here too :)

Yes, I think mostly I am, though again as was mentioning to everyone right here the time zone is in my favor in most cases. At your place too, I think you usually post a little late at night, so once again I can catch up there. Oh yes…I think I need to reduce my 2 cents to half a cent now so that my comments don’t run too long…lol.. :)

Well, thank you so much for saying that, Donna – it means a lot coming from you, but that superstar crown is and has always been Adrienne’s I think. I just manage to catch up wherever I can, though I know there’s a lot more places I need to be, but then we really can’t be all over, can we?

Absolutely! I think our comments need to be well framed and thought of before we just go ahead and write anything. It must relate to what’s asked of us in the post, and even otherwise, our way of expressing what we can about what’s written. I know you are another superstar when it comes to comments, as yours are spot on and so apt, which always add more value to the posts.

I agree with you there, when we comment, we kind of leave our footprints behind. If people like what we write or leave behind, they’re sure to click the links and visit our blogs. And even if they don’t, what matters most is you have been true to yourself and the blog you commented on because you commented honestly and to the best of your knowledge, isn’t it?

You’re right there – the one liner commenters usually are there for leaving their backlinks. That’s one reason I increased the word count in CommentLuv to more words now, which takes care of such people because even if they want to comment, they’d not be able to unless they don’t increase their word count.

Thank you so much for your lovely comment, and yes, we shall meet soon again. I’m glad you added your blog commenting tips here so that others too can learn from it – we appreciate it a great deal :)

Good to see here, Harleena :)

First guest post, huh? I am guessing that you had a wonderful experience :D

I didn’t quite have a commenting strategy when I started out. I focused mainly on guest posting and being active on blog communities, particularly Blogengage (And that’s how I commented. Didn’t particularly have a reading list. Plus, I didn’t reciprocate all my comments – which was a flaw in my strategy).

All that changed with my second blog though ;) Started to comment more, to read more blogs, and as a result I learned more during the first few months with my second blog than the few years with my first one.

I like to write my comments as they come to me (I don’t want to think too much about it; I don’t want the comment to feel “forced”). Of course, I am also careful to not write anything – I want to be polite and respectful of the author (these days I find it much easier, since I philosophically agree with no one and yet everyone :D ).

I do have a reading list now, and a better strategy (everything goes with my planned blog launch). Hopefully everything well work out :)

Anyways, thank you for sharing your insights on blog commenting!

And good luck with future guest posts :D

Hi Jeevan!

Nice to see you here too!

Yes, my first ever guest post, unbelievable? :)

You bet, I’m having a gala time and enjoying the guest post opportunity given to me by Adrienne, the superstar herself!

Well, nobody comes with all the knowledge, and some of it is expected to be learned through experiences, and I’m glad that you’re able to spot out your flaws – this really is wonderful because not everyone does that. Accepting your mistakes is like crossing half the bridge towards success. Like you, I too never had a commenting strategy, but then you learn with time and experience, and especially when you’ve the blog commenting superstars like Adrienne’s who inspire you by being sheer examples to follow!

I’d say you’re a great learner and have all the ingredients to be successful. I’m sure you’d take your new blog to the heights you’ve dreamed of. :)

I think you do the right thing, and as a matter of fact, I also do the same thing, and this is comment direct from the heart, by passing your critical and analytical processes which wouldn’t let you express freely if they had their way. Lol… :)

I admire your philosophical approach as that’s how things are – that which is true for you is false for others, and vice-versa. Acceptance and respect go hand in hand in creating relationships, and that works for blog commenting as well.

I wish you all the best for your new blog launch, and wish that your new strategy works out in your favor. :)

Glad that you made a visit here and thank you for instigating and inspiring discussion. I really appreciate it. :)

Hey Jeevan,

Thanks for checking out Harleena’s post. Pretty awesome right!

Thanks for sharing what’s worked and what hasn’t for you. I think that this whole process is a learning experience for us all. I think we all made mistakes along the way too.

I’m a lot like you in the same respect that I just write what comes to me and I don’t necessarily try to hone in on every single point that was in the post unless I have something to add that I think will be helpful. I just let it flow, that’s the kind of writer I am too. Nothing is ever planned with me.

Appreciate your comment and for letting us know how things have worked in the past and present for you. These are the lessons we all can learn from one another.

@ Harleena

Indeed. Adrienne is a great role model for commentators :) I began commenting more regularly ever since I met Adrienne :D Good to have friends like that.

Thank you. I hope everything goes well for me :)

Thanks again. And I wish you success with guest posting ;) Hope to see more of your guest posts around the web (well, all of your comments are mini-guest posts, so in a way this is not your first guest post :D ).

@ Adrienne

Indeed Adrienne. Those mistakes make us all unique, with unique experiences. People need to make mistakes – especially new bloggers. If they don’t, they are never going to survive.

I tried experimenting with planning ahead – particularly commenting. It worked great for me, at least for some blog posts. Another thing I noticed is that my comments used to be longer when I planned ahead (I tried to write something about every point they said. So, it ended up longer).

Anyways, thank you guys for replying ;)

By the way, Adrienne, something else came into my mind while writing this comment. Perhaps you should write about commenting on guest posts. Not a lot of bloggers I know reply to comments of articles written by guest authors :D

Hey Jeevan,

Ah, thank you and I’m glad you think so.

You’re right, we learn from our mistakes and then they help us to appreciate just how far we’ve come. I think they’re almost necessary in order to get further you know.

Sometimes I try to write about every single point but at other times I don’t have a lot to contribute so I’ll just skip some of those.

Do you mean like what I do here replying along with my guest blogger or people who are guest posting don’t reply to comments? Either way shame on them. My goodness, I’m glad I don’t have any bloggers that contribute on my blog that don’t respond. They know better! lol…

Thanks Jeevan and have a good one.

Thanks so much for your kind wishes. Yes, now that I’ve started, I do plan to do more of them, though perhaps just one per month. Ah…sorry for that…I guess I just can’t help those, and if I did…I don’t think that would really be me :)

@ Adrienne

Indeed. That and time. These days, I take about 10-15 mins per post (I blame it on my typing, but I am working on improving it).

I was talking about the first one :D Yeah, not a lot of bloggers do that (me included). I will sure remember to add that to my strategy :D

@ Harleena

I am still looking for more blogs to comment. Right now, I am just trying to maintain the list; I have around 80 blogs on my reading list now (so about 20 posts to comment per day, not too bad :D ).

Thanks Harleena :) Don’t be sorry. I think that’s great. Your comments are long, but they do add value to the post (So I am okay :D ) Anyways, long comments are kind of your trademark, isn’t it? :D

Hi Jeevan,

More blogs! Gosh…you are already doing a great job with commenting on 20 per day! Or perhaps you aren’t blogging presently, so can afford to do that. Would love to see the same pace once your blog comes up ;)

Thanks for saying that, and yes, no one so far has ever had problems because of their length, or perhaps as you mentioned, they’ve more or less become my trademark now, so I better stick to them. And even if I tried, I wonder how’d I ever be able to write ‘less’, whether in my comment, or my posts…lol…:)

Thanks once again – love our little chit-chat here :)

Yup, that’s the main reason.

I probably won’t be able to keep this up when I start the blog. But, I would love to :D

:D I think my trademark is emoticons/smileys. I love putting them all over my comments (Can’t resist the temptation :P ).

No mention :)

Hello Ms. Adrienne and Ms. Harleena

I will call this an article. This has so much valuable information for anyone that desires to continue to learn.
Harleena you have excellent points, that if we follow, we will be on the road to success as bloggers.
As I read your article,I noticed how you break up your paragraphs. It makes it easy to read.
All your points are important, but something you and Adrienne share on your blogs is that relationships come first. I personally admire both of you.
The area I am still working on, is making sure I comment on those that take the time to comment on my blog.
You are both awesome role models, and even though I am new I have learned from both.
Adrienne your the relationship superstar and Harleena you are the superstar in the commenting world.
Thank you Adrienne and Harleena.

Hi Gladys,

Thank you for appreciating this article. I’m glad that you find the information useful. :)

As bloggers, we learn from each other, and as true bloggers, we should lead one another to the path of success hand in hand, isn’t it?

I’ve learned many tips over my journey of blogging, and I cannot contribute them to any particular blogger as I really don’t remember. One of the tips is to break the paragraphs into not more than two sentences, if and wherever possible. Similarly, using a little bit of color, images, and quotes breaks the monotony, and it works especially for my looooong posts :) I learned about creating relationships from Adrienne, and she’s been my role model for that part of it.

I believe reciprocation is good and to expect that is not bad either. After all, a relationship is a two way process. Also, you might spend your time commenting on those who comment at your place that you’d not be left with any time to comment on those who don’t comment at your place. This is okay, because reciprocation is what really works most of the time.

Thank you again for sharing your wonderful thoughts, appreciation, and observations. I appreciate you for taking out the time for making this visit. :)

Hi Gladys,

I’m glad you found a lot of value in Harleena’s post, I sure did. She is the queen of commenting I will agree.

I know you are still new to the blogging world Gladys but you’ve learned a lot in your short time here and that’s what it takes to get us to where we all want to be no matter what that might be for each of us.

I’m happy to hear that you’ve taken some key points from Harleena’s posts and some from mine and combining the two you just can’t lose. You are doing a wonderful job I might add.

Thank you for your comment and do enjoy your week.

Hi Adrienne,

You’ve got a real gem on your blog this time ;)
First guest post, powerful, sincere and rich in content and coming from a commenting superstar.

My first encounter with Harleena was on this very blog. Her comments always came first and I remember in one of my comments here, I reacted to it. When I got her for the first time on my blog, some bit of current ran through my veins … ah! she’s here too. I thought it was just going to be one stop by, but it kept coming and coming and today, she’s part of my loving community.

Have you ever heard me say “Women are shaking the kingdom” ?

You see Harleena, you are just so awesome, extremely impressive in this post. Most of us have been wondering how you do to get to leaving such insightful comments on blogs. At one moment, I said you were born with a keyboard in your arms. That’s metaphorically correct. In this post, you make us understand you are the maitre and you know your thing.

Adrienne, thanks for giving her the chance on your blog to tell us what’s in her brain .

Happy week to both of you ;)

Hi Enstine!

Thanks so much for your kind words. And, I’m flattered with your words of appreciation and literally flying on cloud 9! :)

I don’t really deserve it so as much as Adrienne does, as she probably has a magical keyboard – you see I’m not able to beat her in replying to comments her on this post; I make one reply and she does three of them in the meantime!!

But I’ll honor your sentiments and value your thoughts, as they indeed help me to better myself. And, no we’re not shaking the kingdom as we believe in equality so there’s no Kingdom and neither a Queendom, right Adrienne? :)

I’m so glad you like this post, and it means a lot coming from you. I really don’t think much about my comments, as I rarely use my brain when doing so – just my heart! They do flow from my heart to my fingers and if they’re insightful, then I’m just blessed and it’s all His doing.

Thanks so much for gracing this post and embellishing it with your feelings and thoughts. I really appreciate it. :)

Hey Enstine,

I definitely have a real gem for sure. So honored for her to be here. Hope you’re doing okay too Enstine.

I think something like that probably happened here too. Little did I know that I was her encouragement to comment more and put all she had in it. Now look at her and I’m like a very proud Mom. How could I not want her to share with my readers how she’s going about accomplishing this. It’s great to hear it from people other then just me you know.

Women do rule the kingdom, couldn’t help myself Enstine! lol…

Yeah, she was born with a keyboard in her hand and her flow with her thoughts is just incredible. I’m in awe…

My pleasure Enstine and I’m so blessed to have her here today. Thank you for taking the time to stop by and hang in there my friend. My thoughts remain with you.

What a great post, Harleena! Congratulations on your first guest post, and double congratulations for it being on Adrienne’s blog! :-D
I think I’m more of a sharer than a commenter. That is, I find I share posts more than I comment on them. When I do comment, it’s because the content has really touched me in some way. Leveraging, then, doesn’t enter into my commenting equation.
That said, I appreciate and understand that commenting can be a helpful tool to increase blog traffic. And something else just struck me: commenting is a win-win situation. It’s a win for the blogger, because it shows engagement, which helps to make their site and content more credible. It’s also a win for the commenter, for the reasons you mentioned.
Thank you for giving me more food for thought on this process. :-) Peace.

I’m so honored that her very first one is here at my place. How lucky am I!

Ah, I so appreciate you sharing this and that you learned something new today. Maybe not exactly new but why commenting is important. I think it is a win/win for both parties and who doesn’t love hearing what others think about our content! I know I sure do and I’m sure you love it when people express their opinions at your place too.

Thank you Ellen, always a pleasure to hear from you and you enjoy your week okay!

Hi Ellen,

I’m SO glad you liked the post, and yes – my first one here! Thank you for saying that, and I think I couldn’t have been in a better place, so it’s me who’s the lucky one :)

That’s indeed very generous of you I’d say because we usually have most people do just the opposite. They’d comment, but sharing isn’t something most of them believe in, or perhaps their friend’s circle is such, or for whatever reason. I too believe that sharing IS caring and it shows that you have a large heart and are helping the other by spreading a word. So at places, I usually share the posts only after I comment, unless it’s places like Triberr etc., where things work the other way too.

Yes indeed, commenting does help to increase blog traffic, provided the comments are of value and you really comment from your heart – not those kind of superficial comments we generally get to see. It surely is a win-win situation for both sides, and I think anyone receiving comments must love them too.

Thanks for sharing your views about blog commenting. We appreciate your kind visit here as well :)

Well, Harleena and Adrienne – I’m sorry to be so late to this party – and I’ll admit right now that I haven’t been able to read ALL of the preceding 97 comments, as recommended in the post. I guess that’s another good motivation for being first off the starting blocks!!

Many congratulations on an absolute winner for your first guest post, Harleena – you couldn’t have chosen a more appropriate topic, as no-one knows more about this than you. You’ve taught me at least a couple of things here I didn’t know – I didn’t realise Google preferred us to comment on blogs in our own niche, and it also hadn’t occurred to me that I could damage my site’s rankings by commenting on low quality blogs.

Like you, though not to the same extent, I feel I’ve gained a lot from blog commenting, but I’m not sufficiently organised about it and do find it very overwhelming at times. I think it’s great when you get involved in an actual discussion via a comment stream but, sadly, that’s not always possible because there are still a ton of bloggers out there who offer no ‘replyme’ service, which means you never see the responses to your comments. I absolutely will NOT subscribe to a post’s entire comment stream just to make sure I see the reply to my own comment – it leads to too many unwanted emails – nor do I have time to keep checking back to see if there’s a response. I wrote a post about this a while back and it still amazes and frustrates me that more bloggers don’t address this issue – it’s something I got sorted very early on because I didn’t see the point in responding to my readers’ comments if they weren’t going to see my replies.

I love the three qualities you’ve identified for great comments – that they should be generous, intelligent, good and smart. I know I’ve accepted far too many duff, spammy comments on my own blog, which are none of these things, and I’m just starting to get very hardline about it. It’s very disheartening when you get bombarded with rubbish comments from other ‘bloggers’ who are obviously just wanting a free backlink.

I find it much easier to comment when the blogger has posed a question or two at the end of the post, because this gives you something to get your teeth into and I think it makes the comment stream more interesting.

I don’t think I have anything to teach either of you about commenting at all – I’ve learnt all I know from the pair of you! I just try to give value when I leave a comment, and I love commenting for the same reasons you mention in the post – mainly, like you, because of the way it enables us to build relationships and get to know one another in a meaningful way.

Many thanks, Harleena and Adrienne – a wonderful post :)

Hi Sue,

I know that reading a bunch of comments does get hard at times especially if the post was long and then you have over 100 comments to go through. Yikes! But either way we’re just happy to see you.

I’m happy to hear that Harleena has shed some light on a few things for you. I’m surprised you weren’t aware of that Sue but glad you learned that now.

I actually got in an argument about this very subject with a commenter once. He didn’t appreciate receiving my replyme email for his comment reply. He thought that’s what the subscribe to all comments plugin was for. I reminded him that I get a LOT of comments on my posts and most people don’t want to receive every single reply just to see what my reply is to their comment. I just as politely as I could told him if he didn’t like receiving those notices than I suggest he not comment. He thought I was rude and has never returned. Whatever! I’m with you though, I’m not subscribing to all comments to see the one reply to mine.

Glad you enjoyed how Harleena feels comments should be written. I know that each of us can still learn something from us and from this day forward at least be more cautious of who we allow to comment over at out place.

I appreciate you sharing this Sue and thank you so much for your comment. Always a pleasure to hear from you and have a wonderful week.

Hi Susan!

Oh yes, it really becomes difficult to read all the comments in a post if you come in a little late, especially if they are on Adrienne’s blog as they are really long ones! But you DO know that we always welcome your comment, which is so valuable. :)

You know, I had been deliberating on writing a guest post for past one year or so. In fact many bloggers did ask me to write one but I wasn’t really motivated enough and had other projects in hand, or maybe it was not just the right time. However, when Adrienne asked for it, it rang a bell , and I immediately thought that it was payback time, and dare I say no to her. :)

I accept you felicitation of myself being a good commenter, but as much as I know you and seen your comments, you’re no less of a commenting superstar yourself, Susan! Your comments are equally long and well thought of – right from your heart too :)

Although I did say that commenting on low quality blogs isn’t really a good idea, I think I didn’t explain this point well in the post. Every low ranking blog is not a low quality blog. The most obvious ranking criteria I guess is the Alexa rank of the blog.

I remember when I started out, I was totally raw, a newcomer, with hardly any rank, and had not yet established myself. Yet I had comments from bloggers who were at that time at higher ranks than my blog because of my content. I’m sure that you now know what I mean by low quality – it’s the poor content, vague topics, suspicious use of links, cluttered with ads, and that has plenty of posts but no comments, and so on. It’s really risky to comment on such places as you never know that might get banned by Google at some point of time, and you too might get affected by that. For that matter, any new blog is a potential risk, but some risks are better to take, especially considering the fact that other before us too have done it with us.

As I wrote in the post, I really don’t restrict myself to my niche, I feel I’m a free blogger with the aim of spreading knowledge and helping people, and I learn from everywhere I go as I like diversity and building relationships.

Talk about overwhelming and blog commenting – I guess we’re in the same boat! Take for example this post at Adrienne’s, and the number of comments that are required to be answered – I wonder how she manages to do all of them in such a short time! Hats-off to her! I know because I’ve been sitting with her these past 7 hours and just commenting non-stop!!

I think I wouldn’t ever be able to reply to a comment if there’s no facility like “replyme”. I think it was nice of Adrienne to suggest Andy and have that feature added up in CommentLuv. I agree with your reservations about subscribing to the post’s entire comment stream – it could be quite frustrating indeed.

I think as a conscious and serious blogger who really wants to create a place of value we should be a little strict with the comment spammers and also avoid approving low quality comments. I’m also going to think on these lines that you got to give quality in your comment to earn a backlink, and just a few words of appreciation won’t do.

You’ve a good point here – there should be questions at the end of the post, and that could be the starting place for blogger keen to respond to the post.

Susan, it’s been wonderful to have you here on this post and you’ve really added more value by your suggestions, questions, and thoughts to improve blog commenting.

Thanks SO much for taking out the time to stop by, which I know takes time and effort, and I really appreciate you for these intelligent inputs. :)

Hi Adrienne and Harleena,
Looks like I’m REALLY late to the blog commenting party…I’m all the way down here at 110!

This post brought up a question I’ve been wondering about. There are several blogs that I visit on a regular basis. Some of them don’t get a lot of comments, so I always feel like I should say SOMETHING, but….what do you if the blogger does a series of posts that are on a topic that you either don’t know anything about, don’t really care about, or just don’t have anything to add? I always feel like I should support the person, but draw a blank on what to say. Any ideas?

Hi George,

You are never too late George, always a pleasure to see you.

I know Harleena will have her own views on this but I’ve gotten to the point that I’d rather not comment if I can’t add to the post. If it’s topics I know nothing about, even though I really would love to support them, I also don’t want to sound stupid because I have nothing to add. So if that were me then I wouldn’t feel guilty at all because there will come a time when they visit your blog and the same will happen. I don’t expect everyone to comment on every single post of mine especially if it’s something they just know nothing about. It’s not going to hurt my feelings at all, I totally understand.

Hope that was helpful and thanks for your comment.

Hi George!

Nice to meet you, and as Adrienne mentioned – you are never late here :)

Just as Adrienne has her own views that I respect, I’ve my own views on this issue which differ a bit from hers. Although I totally agree with her that we should not comment if we can’t add to the post, since we consider the comments as extensions to the post. And if the topic is totally something we cannot relate to, we shouldn’t.

However, it quite happens that sometimes we’ve something or the other to share, and if we’ve then why not? For example, even if my blog has articles on family, parenting, or say mind – I’ve plenty of techies commenting on them, and I love it. That’s because they can relate to it too. Similarly, I might visit a blog that’s about a latest mobile or a new application, even though I am not much of a tech kind of a person, but I’d love to read and learn about it. Once I’ve read through, I always can add a few words with ease, which I think anyone can do, if they wish to.

In case of a post where I find it difficult to contribute, and if that belongs to a dear friend of mine, I’d still go and comment to show my support or gratitude for sharing some new and useful information, but I’d add less of what I would ideally have added and admit that I don’t know much about it. And if you’re really a friend and concerned, your comment would be appreciated.

In the end, it all depends on your perspective and your principles – I totally respect Adrienne’s views because for her they’re right. So, it’s each one to his or her own views, and so you can choose any way that you like. But as you say if you don’t have any idea, don’t care, and don’t want to add, then just don’t do it, simple! If ever you wish to support a person, then you can always use the social media and spread the word; it doesn’t always have to be through blog commenting- IF you don’t want to.

I hope this helped a little. :)

Thanks so much for putting forward such an interesting and relevant question, I really appreciate it. :)

I think I’ve had a lot of these problems more so lately, especially when I blog hop (not the link things…). I think it’s more common with the bloggers on Blogspot. And having a ‘Commenting Guidelines’ spoiler link right before the comment area box.

Hopefully more people will read this and share it and whatnot, and maybe the word will get out there better about this. :p

Hey Liz,

I have a few friends that get almost nothing but people who comment only for the links. Their comments aren’t even worth the time to read and they get so fed up with it. They’ve posted the commenting rules right there before the comment box so they’d see them but for the most part I think they remain ignored. It’s obvious that people just don’t care, really sad.

I hope they will read this and take something very helpful away.

Appreciate your comment, thanks for stopping by. Have a great week Liz.

Hi Liz,

Good to meet you at Adrienne’s blog :)

I also once had a blogspot blog but never had the commenting guidelines above the comment box. However, I did have a few such lines when I had a different WordPress theme. But as Adrienne so rightly says, it rests ignored and people just don’t even look at it. However, they do serve a purpose of saving the time for a blogger who might not want to open a new page for reading the rules if we put them right in front where it matters the most. Also, the blogger can reason out if confronted by a commenter whose comment was trashed for not following the rules.

Presently, I don’t have any commenting rules or policy anywhere on my blog, but I feel having a few lines above the comment box doesn’t hurt, if your rules are short and specific ones. However, I still respect your views and dislike for such presentation on the blog.

I really do hope that people are more sensible in commenting and stop the spamming. If they do that even after reading the commenting guidelines, then it’s too sad.

Thanks for your sharing your views and they’re definitely important and relevant, I appreciate it. :)

Hi Harleena and Adrienne

Congratulations on your first guest post! I have learned a lot about commenting from both of you. I found Adrienne on someone’s site via a comment that was left. So, you are right about quality comments and how much they matter.

I think Adrienne’s blog is like a melting pot for all kinds of bloggers. With the comment luv I have found posts and others that have a similar subject that I am interested in. Of course we can all use help with the functioning of our blogs and we seem to get a tremendous amount here and from people that visit here. Community matters.

I would rather visit sites that folks have taken the time to write a good comment, which as you have said it helps with the discussion of the post. We take the time to write and if we have something worthwhile to say, it is better if it actually gets read.

Hi Mary,

Glad to hear you’ve learned from both of us. Harleena doesn’t realize how much she’s teaching others in the area now. She’s definitely known for her wonderful comments now.

I’m so happy to hear that Mary and I love when people find each other from visiting my blog. I meet a lot of wonderful bloggers and I’m always eager and excited when they start visiting each other as well. That’s how the friendships grow for sure.

Even though a lot of people will say it’s not important, having quality comments on your posts is a form of people appreciating your work. That’s what it means to me and we all want to be appreciated and know that we’re able to help and possibly make a difference. When people share their thoughts and opinions with you then that’s even better. We all want that, I’m sure of it.

Thank you for your comment and taking the time to stop by. It’s always great to see you and have a wonderful week.

Hi Mary,

Thank you so much for your kind wishes – it’s indeed an honor to start off my guest blogging journey from Adrienne’s blog :)

I agree with you there, and like you, I’ve learned so much for the superstar herself! I guess she doesn’t realize how many hearts she really touches through her warm comments, which is one of the main reason her blog is always flooded with them, isn’t it?

CommentLuv does help a great deal to reach out and connect with other fellow bloggers, and as you rightly mentioned, you can pick and choose which blog you want to visit because you can read the related links to your niche from it.

Yes indeed, visiting blogs where there are good comments and interaction helps us as we gain knowledge and can also enjoy the discussion, besides the post. Just as Adrienne also mentioned – quality comment shows that people like your work, they are reading it, and then commenting and sharing it too. Who doesn’t want that?

Thanks for stopping by and adding your blog commenting tips, which are going to help many I’m sure. :)

Harleena – How nice to see you here on Adrienne’s blog. You are a super commenting star for sure. I’m so envious how you always arrive almost always first and with just the right things to say. You must be a fast reader and typist. I’m fast at that but not always at arriving at blogs as soon as they post. And I’m a person of fewer words, just my nature and I finally have accepted that. I agree with several folks above about always mentioning the persons name when commenting and answering questions. I will add things if I find something new and relevant to add. if it’s about a mistake I will email or send a private message not put it in a comment – I know how that feels to be pointed out on a post, not very good.
I love commenting and getting comments as it really helps to know if you are hitting the audience right and it gives clues about what to write about going forward.
I hope you both enjoy your week ahead and Adrienne I’m so glad you went dancing! And your mom too! That is awesome :)

Hey Lisa,

I’m always impressed myself at how quickly she’s able to make it to all these different blogs. I know I’ll eventually make my way to them so I quit worrying about whether or not I’m first. Luckily for Harleena, here day is winding down so she’s already in the commenting mode where we’re just starting our day and have so many other things to do first.

I know what you mean at times not having a whole lot to add. I try not to sound redundant and repeat what they’ve shared because I know how that is when I read those so I just offer my best advice and hope that it will either help or add something to the post.

I appreciate you sharing this with us Lisa and have a wonderful week. I sure did have fun this weekend and so glad everyone was able to get together before my nephew leaves again.

Hi Lisa,

Surprised! Yes indeed, it’s wonderful to be Adrienne’s guest this month and I just love her community with the never ending comments :)

Thank you for saying that, though I know I’ve learnt it all from Adrienne. Not to mention that she is SO fast with her comments, while I tend to go at my own crawly pace. Ah…being the first one, just as Adrienne mentioned is simply because the time is in my favor and it’s usually my evening time when your day starts, which is when I start to blog hop and comment, and doing the other social media stuff.

Yes, I do read and type fast, but if you call me fast, what would you call Adrienne – superfast! :) I usually always have my Feedly open along with my email that time, so any new post coming up, I immediately get to know and tend to comment as soon as I can, as I don’t like to keep work pending as it just adds up to my to-do tasks later, which I really don’t like. However, if I am writing or working on a project – everything is closed till I finish my work and then open up my other tabs.

I can understand that and I marvel at people who can say so much in a few words, which I feel is an art I have to master one day! That’s a very important point you raised about emailing or messaging the person, instead of showcasing their flaws or mistakes openly in the comments, which just shows you are courteous enough.

I think we ALL love getting comments, though few really don’t make the effort to really comment well or reply the comment the way it should be replied. I visit many blogs too and tend to wonder how could they reply to my comment in a single line or just say ‘thanks for your comment’! But there are bloggers who do that. I guess we really can’t say anything much about this – each to his/her own, but I couldn’t dream of just rounding off things in 3-4 words!

Thanks for your valuable comment, and your few words always add meaning to the post. We appreciate your input :)

Harleena, I got distracted and did not clue in that you wrote this fabulous post on commenting until I saw your photo. Both you, Harleena and Adrienne are wonderful at commenting. You both set great examples. The kind of odd blog I write,I get a lot a views from search engines from people looking for a parenting idea. Those wonderful viewers don\’t know that it is nice to comment, I think.(Suggestions?)I never really thought about Google liking comments. I just am chatty and think author like to know some one appreciates the good job you did in your post.My favorite point you made is to comment from \”your heart”. I have to say that being sincere, even with my typos, I have made great “online-friends” like you and Adrienne. I always learn something new from both of you ladies. Thanks

Hi Malika,

Well glad you realized that this is Harleena’s post and her first guest post to be exact. So happy to have her here today.

Why thank you and glad you’ve learned a thing or two from us and that it’s helped. I know that not everyone comments and those that don’t blog don’t understand that we do appreciate the response. I’m sure that you already do but perhaps you can ask questions and make sure that you ask them at the end of your post to please comment and share their thoughts. That’s really all you can do.

Glad you’ve made some good online friends and that we’re included among those.

Thank you Malika and have a wonderful week.

Hi Malika,

So good to see you here today :)

Ah…is that so! I guess I should take it as a compliment– but I’m glad you could make out it was my first post by seeing my picture in the end :)

Thank you for saying that Malika, though as I’ve been all along, I’ve learnt most of my commenting ways from Adrienne herself – so I need to thank her for that. I agree with what Adrienne said that normal blog readers might just like to read your post and leave soon after, or perhaps they don’t really like to leave a comment. Perhaps asking them to share their views about a question asked in the end might help. Additionally, having a commenting system like CommentLuv sometimes does help also.

Yes indeed, we all love to get comments as they are kind of small rewards for our effort and work. I guess even visiting other blogs, or reciprocation does help. I’m sure if you visit a few blogs, they’d also visit yours – something that’s always worked for me, and Adrienne too I think.

Don’t worry about the typos because friends always understand, and yes – it’s indeed been a pleasure knowing a wonderful friend like you. That’s what makes the Blogosphere such a wonderful place to be in, isn’t it?

Thank you SO much for taking out the time to stop by here today and share your feelings with us. :)

Hi, Harleena,

I certainly didn’t manage one of your tips — being an early commenter — but I can speak from the heart in thanking you for informing (or reminding) everyone about the importance of being genuine. I always read the comments section of blogs, and I am always drawn to anyone who has something interesting, witty, challenging or just nice to say. I was happy to see that your post generated the kind of comments writers dream about! I tend to be rather Emily Post-ish about posting behavior. It’s simply bad manners to add a comment for no other reason than to earn a link or make gratuitous remarks to someone you hope to impress. But is it poor manners to link to something of relevance outside of a site? I’ve written, for example, about ways to become a valued guest post contributor and, as much as I think it would be helpful to include it here, I know it would also be self-promotional. When in doubt, I keep links out, but what do you think? If someone included a link on one of your blogs, would you automatically put it in the spam folder? Or would you weigh the merits of the link? Thank you for your thoughts — and congrats on authoring a piece on Adrienne’s site (a wonderful showcase, for sure.) All my best, Katherine

Hey Katherine,

Thanks for contributing to this conversation and sharing with Harleena your experience.

Being the pro that you are I know that what you share warrants our attention. I personally love the way you write and there are a few of you ladies that really catch my eye. I’m so jealous and in awe of the way you capture my attention and I appreciate the flow of your words.

We only wish everyone commented for the right reason but that’s not always the case anymore. Especially with so many spammers on the loose these days. Will they ever disappear?

I’ll let Harleena answer that question for you Katherine since it’s directed at her about the links.

I appreciate your comment and thanks for taking the time to stop by. Always lovely to see you and thanks again for directing me to your post. I so enjoyed reading that one.

Hi Katherine,

Good to meet you at Adrienne’s blog :)

Thank you for your kind words. Yes, being genuine is a quality that helps enhance the reputation of the commenter. And, as you’ve mentioned, it’s easy to spot them out because their comments are always interesting and nice.

As for the comments, I think every post of Adrienne draw lots of comments, and the readers are so loyal to her that they blessed me too with the shower of their comments. Also, I guess it makes a difference if the comments are replied to promptly, as then other bloggers also get motivated to share their thoughts.

I agree with you that a blogger should not comment just for the sake of getting a backlink. As far as adding a link in the comment goes, I’d at the most allow the commenter to mention the site of reference but not allow it to be hyperlinked, and that too in exceptional cases.

There are various reasons for that – first, I don’t want Google to be suspicious that I’m charging the commenter for leaving links this way on my blog, second, since I do not allow links anywhere else in the post or my blog, then why should I allow them in the comments, and last, for that matter, I don’t like leaving my own blog links in my comments on my blog, which really happen very rarely.

Leaving a link written by yourself would be considered self-promotional, and leaving a link of a third party site would too be subject to approval, and has to be a general site of extraordinary content highly related to the matter of the post.

If the comment is good, I’d not mark it as spam, rather I’d just remove the external link and approve the comment, if I consider that the link could be a promotional link.

Even if I know the commenter well, I’d follow the set norms and remove the link, though knowing the people I know already, none of them have ever tried leaving such links ever. I know that every rule has an exception, but they should really be rare.

I don’t know if you agree with my views or not, but it’s true that I’m wary of the links in the comments. Thank you for asking an interesting question, which is very subjective and I’m sure different people would have varied opinions about it.

I’m glad you enjoyed reading the article and spent time interacting about it. I appreciate it. :)

Hi, Harleena,

I agree with you in practice — I don’t leave links in the comments section of anyone’s blog and don’t let anyone post links in mine — but, in theory, I see the value of using links with discretion.

I read and save links all the time, primarily to help research my own articles. But, when I read a a blog post and know someone else’s work would add to the conversation, I’d like to include a link,(“X had an interesting point of view about this in the NYT”). Whether the link would point to someone else’s work or my own, I don’t include — for the reasons you mention — but I wish I could.

Perhaps I’m just lamenting that spammers have made it difficult for honest exchanges of information…

Congrats again on a great post.

I also with things were different and we could use the links because sometimes they are helpful ones. I guess had it not been for the spammers and Google, we might have. But then if you do it for one, you cannot deny the other as that would be unfair, so it’s best to avoid it.

Thanks once again for your wonderful contribution :)

Hi Cole,

Glad you liked the post and could relate to it :)

It surely IS, and I think for most of us, blog commenting is one of the major ways to drive traffic to our blogs. For me at least it is and has been, though lately I’ve started getting the same amount from the search engines too.

Social media too is wonderful, though you need to make an effort to reach the masses, which does take time and effort. Not to mention Pinterest, which if tapped properly can be a great resource and it’s also supposed to be the platform where your posts stay the longest as compared to the other social media platforms. I get constant traffic from Facebook, Pinterest, and G+, even many days after the posts are published. Yes, even Twitter and Triberr are great. They’ve really worked a lot for me I’d say. :)

Thanks for stopping by, and yes, it’s always nice to meet you here as well as at our blogs :)

Harleena –
Congratulations! This is awesome for me because I get to hear good words from my two favorite bloggers! You and Adrienne!
I don’t think there is a better person to write this guest blog. I found your sight when looking for inspiration and certainly found it. When you came by and visited my blog, I wondered what it would be like for you. My readers rely on my content to help them out with their health aspirations. Yet, you always find something relevant and uplifting to say even though you cannot always identify with my content.
I think that is true of all my fellow bloggers who drop by regularly now. They are inspirational people who find a relevant way to connect with others. Adrienne’s post about why it is never a waste of time is exemplified in your sharing. You’re so right: It is about more than SEO ranking.
I appreciate your insight about only commenting on blogs in your content area. I learn a lot on blogs that have nothing to do with my content. But most of all, I have gotten to know some awesome human beings who are sharing their passion – and igniting mine.
As a newbie to blogging, I appreciate your insight into how to be more conscious about commenting. This was probably my longest comment ever. You’re passion is contagious Harleena!
Thank you!

Hi Karen,

Thank you SO much for your kind words of appreciation about us :)

That’s indeed so kind of you and I’m also lucky to have found such a wonderful friend in you. Your blog is a great resource and I love the fact that you too are out there helping and uplifting them through your posts. I agree that I might not always have something to share because it might not relate to me or it’s not something I’ve undergone, but I can feel the pain such people go through and I do have a few people I know going through some of the things you write about, so one can relate. I guess if anyone wants to reach out and connect, nothing can really stop them, isn’t it?

Oh yes…blog commenting and building relationships through it goes way beyond ranking and Google. Not that those don’t matter, but for me they come secondary. Perhaps that’s one reason I really don’t mind visiting, reading, commenting, and sharing blogs outside my niche too – that’s the least I can do to help another fellow blogger. And I thank all those people too because they too visit my blog, so it really does work both ways I’d say.

Yes, Google recommends that we visit blogs related to our own niche, but then that’s Google, not me! Like you, I too learn a great deal about SO many things when I visit blogs outside my niche, and I think there’s absolutely no harm doing that. At the least, if you wish, don’t leave your link behind on unrelated blogs incase you feel your rank or blog might be affected – but don’t forget to visit blogs, isn’t it?

Ah…your longest comment! I guess this post has had a positive impact on you, or perhaps you too went ahead with the flow of words. Not to mention that I’ve noticed nice and long replies to many comments on your blog too :)

Thanks for taking out the time to share your views with us. We appreciate your visit a great deal :)

Hi Yeshua,

Sorry for the long article….I tried to keep it short this time ;)

I agree with Adrienne there, and I hope this post would help you change your mind a wee bit. Blog commenting DOES help build stronger relationships and you need to try it out to know what we mean. I guess once you start blog commenting, you’d get a hang of it and start loving it. That’s how we all started I’d say. Another way is to keep adding a few more words than your previous comment, so you really don’t get to know how you’ve built up your comment.

Let me know how it goes for you. :)

Hi Harleena,

Leaving comments is a good way to express our opinion and expertise on related issue as bloggers. Its not only free but also powerful method to build publicity.

I guess its hard to catch up with your progress on this subject. There’s so many great blogs on my lists to read before leave a comment on it. Thank you for sharing your secret in making blog commenting. I think you are one of the queens in blog commenting this far. :)

Hi Okto,

Nice to meet you at Adrienne’s place :)

Yes, blog commenting is a great way to share your views and expertise on related posts, and I agree that it IS a free way to build publicity and get traffic to your blog too.
But as I’ve been saying earlier, it’s more about connecting with each other and building strong relationships that go beyond just blogs and comments, isn’t it?

I agree, we all do have our list of blogs we’d like to read and visit, and sometimes it’s not possible to comment on each one. I guess that’s a personal choice we all have to make where we might just read some and share some, or read and comment on some of them, depending on what we like.

Thanks for saying that, though the crown of the queen rightfully belongs only to Adrienne. We appreciate you taking out the time and stopping by here today :)

I won’t doubt this one at alllllllll. I don’t know if i should call you the BLOG COMMENTING SUPER START :) .

See, when it comes to blog commenting, you’re very good in it and in fact, you’re always to very first to leave your long and thoughtful comments on my posts whenever its published.

I’ve also used blog commenting to build lots of awesome relationship with other bloggers though, time has been dealing with me lately but, I’m still trying :) .

So Harleena, i agree with all you said here and, keep it up dear. I have a gift for you tomorrow being my birthday because, you’re really a dear friend :) , lets see how it goes.

Thanks for sharing and, thanks to Adrienne for publishing your post here.

Hi Theodore,

Weren’t you also in for a surprise seeing me here today? I did think of letting everyone know about my guest post at Adrienne’s place earlier, but then thought nothing like surprising everyone, especially those who keep asking when I’d start guest posts :)

Oh no…the superstar is only one, and that’s Adrienne herself, but yes, I’m lucky like a lot of us here to have found her and learn so much from her, isn’t it?

Yes indeed, again as I was telling everyone earlier in the comments, the time zone works well for me. I think when your posts come up; it’s just before my lunch time, when I am winding up my work and ready to close. That’s when I get yours, and a few other blogger friends’ in my RSS, and it hardly takes me a few minutes before I read, comment, and share, before I take up the other comments later in the evening.

I can well understand that lately you have been busy with your niche sites so perhaps the commenting has lessened a wee bit, though you’re still there on most of the blogs whenever you find the time, which is commendable. Relationships are built only this way in the online world I think, or how else would we connect with each other had it not been through our blogs, isn’t it?

I know it’s your birthday, and I AM eagerly awaiting your gift now that you’ve mentioned it. I wish you all the best in life, for tomorrow and for years to come.

Thanks so much for taking out the time and leaving your heartfelt comment here – much appreciated :)

Hi Harleena,

It’s so good to see you here on Adrienne’s blog as your very first guest post. The first time I saw you gave me the feeling of comfort. You have that charisma that attracts me to get to know more about you. I don’t follow all the commenters on Adrienne’s, just a few. Besides, even if I wanna follow all of them it’ll take me years to read all of their blogs before I even get to know them. So, only a few people like you.

I can’t believe when you said some people copied other people’s comment…where is the originality and creativity on this one? *shakes head*

Ya know I asked Andy about this CommentLuv Link Checker plugin but I have no success of finding it. It would be nice to have this add on.

“Although it is stated that Google prefers you to comment on blogs of your own niche, but I don’t always follow that – on this front, relations are more important to me than my Google or Alexa rank!”

Wow…I am with you on this one. You have said it right. I’m not here to please Google but here to establish network relationship. And as far as Alexa rank is concerned, I don’t even know how they rank me on this one. But so far so good, my Alexa ranking is getter better everyday.

You know I don’t subscribe to everyone’s newsletter but only a few, coz if I do then my email would be flooded and not sure I could keep up. However I subscribe to their RSS instead or I just go to Triberr to keep up with their latest post, this is like an RSS to me too. It’s all in one place.

Thank you Harleena for an excellent post. Have a fantastic Tuesday!!

Hi Angela,

Thank you for saying that and it’s indeed a pleasure to be over at Adrienne’s place this month :)

That’s indeed so kind of you, and I should say the same for you because reaching that comfort level shows that you have crossed the mere level of building relationship to something better and stronger. It’s the time when words are no longer needed because the heart understands, isn’t it? I feel like that for a lot of my blogging friends too whom I’ve come to know in my blogging career, and you surely are one of them.

I agree with you there, we really can’t follow everyone, or perhaps we could try out a few. But what matters most is how well you are able to connect with them, which again doesn’t happen with everyone – only a selected few.

Oh yes… I’ve got a few spammy kind of bloggers who perhaps didn’t know how to add their link or what comment to write, and they copied a few paragraphs from other related blogs and pasted it right in the comment section. You can make out the change in language immediately, and when I checked it on Google, I found out what they had done. I emailed and warned the person, who apologized saying that he was in a hurry and that’s the reason he resorted to this way! Amazing how people can get, so we need to be careful about such things too.

Perhaps you should email and ask Andy about it, or Adrienne might be able to shed more light as she’s already a beta tester for Andy, though it was recommended to download it once, use it and then disable it, which I did a few months back, and wonder if it’s still there now.

Absolutely! We really cannot go around pleasing Google or the search engines because they keep changing SO often. I’d rather be here for one another and tackle Google together, especially their updates, which again so many people get frightened of!

I do the same because newsletters can fill up your Inbox, especially if they are frequent ones. I think RSS works much better there, unless of course there are a few select bloggers you’d like to subscribe to through the emails and newsletters for their recent posts. Yes, Triberr is just like a mini RSS for me too, though not everyone from there comes goes over to each other’s blog. I sometimes notice that the comments start and end up in Triberr itself :)

Thanks so much for your valuable comment, which we appreciate a great deal. Have a wonderful day ahead as well :)

Hi, Harleena Mam,
Nice to see you over here with such a beautiful and informative Blog post. :)
Well, frankly speaking, I have learned many things from you even blog commenting, you have guided me in the blogosphere. I am just three month old blogger, not three years old like you. So, this is my learning time and I am learning. I remember, initially I used to leaving a comment like “very good post, nice post, informative post, keep posting” without reading the whole post. :(

I saw your comment on Sue’s Blog which made me think over the commenting style and from that day I started to follow your comment style with deep interest of readering. Perhaps, I didn’t connect the things like you in the comments but I tried my best co-relate few things.
Definitely, You use your heart in writing your of comments as well as post. I would like to mention if Adrienne is an “Engagement Superstar” Then You are a “HEART-WRITER”. (Heart Writer a word coined by you at WriteClever. :) )

Now, coming to the post, swell, good commenting style helps us in hunting three birds with one stone (Backlinks, Relationships and Traffics ). Reading before commenting, I have started doing that.
I feel very sorry for myself as I am too busy to run and comment very first on any blog post but I try my best to comment on some blog as I get my free time. :)

Thank you very much for very prolific post. :)
Have a great week. :)

Hi Kumar,

Wonderful to see you here too, and I’m so glad you liked the post :)

Well, thank you for saying that. I guess I just passed on what I learnt about commenting from Adrienne to you, though you learnt it yourself, just as I did by observing how the comments are created. I know you are just so new to blogging, yet you are already doing a commendable job. Remembering my time, I was nowhere near you I’d say because I was more of a casual blogger earlier.

Yes indeed, learning I think should never stop, even when you have completed a few years of blogging. I am still a learner myself, and it’s a great feeling to learn something new every single day, which happens only when we visit each others blogs or various other sites, isn’t it?

I don’t blame you at all for leaving short comments or for not reading the entire post, especially if it’s a long one because new bloggers really don’t know how to go about blog commenting and so many other things, unless they are taught or read it somewhere. That’s the sole purpose I started the blogging niche at my blog, some way to pass on the little knowledge I have to the new ones or those who might need it because I was getting so many emails and messages about how to go about blogging, or perhaps I was able to convey things in a way people understood.

Oh yes…I remember our short chat over at Sue’s blog, and it’s wonderful to see you comment so well now. I think the more you comment, the better you get, which is just like writing – the more you write, the better you get, isn’t it? Ah…you DO remember the heart-writer part too :)

Absolutely! I think you do a lot when you leave a valuable comment on other blogs. These three birds are of course there, but there must be so much more you can add to this. Reading the entire post is essential, or else you might skip out on certain things or what’s asked of you. I sometimes get commenters who address me when the post was written by a guest author, which of course I have to edit before it shows up, but that shows that perhaps you were in a rush and didn’t read the entire post. Of course, the comments follow later, though if there are numerous comments like Adrienne gets on her blog, sometimes it’s not possible to go through ALL of them.

Commenting first or last hardly matters as long as you comment. You should visit a blog when you are free to be able to read the post, write a comment, and share if you want to. Because that’s how you will be able to do full justice to the post.

Thank you SO much for taking out the time, and for your words of appreciation. I appreciate you for sharing this post with your friend’s too :)

Hi Kumar,

So glad to hear that you’ve been learning a lot from Harleena. She definitely has a lot to share and we can all only be like her with her heartfelt comments and her caring nature.

I think she’s also the Commenting Queen too Kumar but I love that, the Heart Writer. That fits her beautifully.

You are not alone on the being the first to comment Kumar. I rarely make it so Harleena is just the pro in that area my friend. At times I’ve been the first but I think that was by accident. I think we each can just do the best we can.

Thank you for your comment today and have a wonderful week.

I used to ask a question or additional input and thought on some blogs, but a lot of them don’t ever answer. I guess it probably depends on the site. Here on Adrienne’s I think you are likely to get an answer to a question for sure.

Speaking of asking a question, what is your thought on disagreeing with, or at least part of a post in the comment section?

I know momma said if you don’t have anything nice to say then just keep quiet, or something like that. But, we all have different opinions and thoughts. I can’t imagine agreeing with everything all the time. I generally don’t comment at all. If I do I then I keep thinking I hope I don’t tick them off too much.

Hi Ray,

Nice to meet you here at Adrienne’s blog :)

I totally agree that any commenter on Adrienne’s blog would guaranteed get a reply, which doesn’t happen everywhere, and I really admire Adrienne for this feat. I can understand that this response prompts the readers to comment on her blog more than others.

I feel blog commenting should be as free and open as possible. The writer has put forth the post before millions of readers, and I’m sure he or she would also be prepared for some disagreements or conflict in views, and that’s quite natural to happen. In fact, I believe healthy arguments and discussion add to the value of the post. So, if you feel that you don’t agree with certain things, I think you should voice it, though it should be done in ways that do not hurt or offend others, and in the spirit of discussion.

However, if you don’t really have anything to contribute, neither appreciation nor criticism, then it’s better that you don’t say anything nor comment.

One thing I agree with you is that you can’t agree with everything all the time, and each person would have his or her views, which we need to respect.

Thank you for your candid views and interesting question that really gets into the skin of blog commenting. :)

I know what you mean Ray, I use to ask for help in the comments and they never responded. I think that’s a turn off for a lot of people but when they stop by here it’s a pleasant surprise.

I know Harleena responded to your question about disagreeing and I agree with what she’s shared. I do want to add that you don’t have to be rude or mean in your responses though and have seen several people do just that. You can disagree without being an ass about it. Those people should really mind their manners.

Thanks Ray, always good to see you.

Hey Harleena and Adrienne,

Mmm… So, both engagement and commenting superstars planned this out, eh? I mean, to keep us all in the dark for a pleasant surprise :D lol…

Congratulations on your first guest post Harleena, and for being the first host for her Adrienne :) A favorite on a favorite’s blog.

Harleena, I’m sure this is a memorable milestone for you, as your first ever guest post is on the best blog and even it’s an apt topic for you. You are indeed the “Blog Commenting Queen”, as Carolyn refers ;)

Many bloggers here know you as the first commenter on many blogs and always leave wonderful comments for others to learn from. Why not, Adrienne too. I’m sure most of readers here were curious enough to know how you hit the #1 as the reason behind that wasn’t transparent.

I agree with commenting from heart, ’cause the genuine thoughts and experiences can help someone else scanning through comments :) As Adrienne always says, “Be Yourself”. I think that’s where the trust build up with right folks and end up being friends. Yet, some bloggers may find it unnecessary, as they more focused on something else. I believe commenting on blogs which authors value other perspectives is always healthy. Else, I naturally discouraged to comment again.

Now, reading previous comments became a habit of mine and I always find something interesting from other views. Sometimes, can’t read all though. Gosh… It all takes time, as I’m even slow at commenting too :D Hence, I find commenting as a time consuming task but yet a great way to learn more. Even inspired me to write posts.

Ha ha… I tend to comment from heart than mind I guess. Sometimes my comments end up switching to story mode. Personally, I love when others relate using their personal experiences as we can never google for ‘em.

Really?! Copying others’ comments and publishing ‘em again? I can’t believe that and never had such a experience. Tricky enough to get in.

Like you, I’m keeping track of new posts via feed reader, but check when I find time to read ‘em Harleena :) I think you take it rightaway when a new update pops up in your reader. I used to do that in my first days, but now trying to comment on at least one post per blog within a week.

It’s bit sad you had to mention Google eventhough it’s about commenting Harleena :) But it’s the truth and folks are focused on impressing Google to improve their rankings and stats. While we discuss about the importance of commenting, they discuss about backlinks. Hence Google had to take some tough decisions to filter out bad folks as much as they can. Yet working on it. I think building relationships is still overlooked. But, thanks to Adrienne, we all get more reminders.

You are right! Commenting is a great way to promote and build an authority online. The less you expect from it, the more you will gain. Isn’t it true Harleena? :)

You both have a wonderful week there, Harleena and Adrienne ;)

Cheers…

Hi Mayura,

Nice surprise, isn’t it? :)

I did think of letting out this little secret while we were chatting on Twitter, but then how would the surprise factor come in! Well, thank you for your kind wishes, and I only have Adrienne to thank for giving me this wonderful opportunity to be part of her blog.

Oh yes…it sure is a major milestone for me, something I’d never forget. It does feel so different to be on the other side as a guest at someone’s blog, rather than having guest’s over. Ah…Carolyn is too kind to say that because we all know that there’s only one queen and superstar ever :)

Yes, I think I’m a little known for my long and first comments at most places, and all through the comments I’ve just been explaining how and why that happens. Yet, there are so many blogs where I land up rather late because they fall out of my normal time zones or their posts are published when it’s night my end, so it all depends I’d say.

Absolutely! You have to be yourself and comment using your own personal experience and voice, which naturally comes from the heart I think, if you really start writing a comment. I know I’ve a tough time when I start writing one because I can never know when to stop….lol…. Not to mention that you, Susan, Adrienne, Barry, and a few more also fall into the same category, if I’m not mistaken. Yes, some bloggers don’t really believe in building the trust through the relationships and that’s their personal choice I think, though I’m sure sooner or later they’d realize the power of blog commenting and building relationships.

I agree with you there because I do the same in most of the cases, unless I’m in a real rush. I think each commenter has something to add to the conversation, and it’s good if you can read through the previous comments so that you don’t repeat what’s mentioned earlier too. Oh no…I don’t think you are slow, I think you take SO much care and make a sincere effort to pour out your heart through your comments, and this is surely noticed by everyone. I think Adrienne would agree with me here, because this not many are able to do. Agreed it does take time but I think it’s worth it at the end of the day.

Lol…we DO love your long stories because we can so well relate to them and sometimes you come up with new suggestions and ideas that one hadn’t thought of, so that’s an addition to the post actually.

Oh yes….some people try to find an easy way of copy and pasting matter from other sites, and sometimes from a comment on someone else’s blog. I’ve actually caught 2 such people at my blog because I could make out from their language that it wasn’t them in reality. Of course, they were sorry about the whole incident, and while one admitted to have no time, the other said that he had asked his cousin to comment in his place, who found this easier way of doing it! I guess one’s got to be very careful here as Google might just penalize you for duplicate content, even in the comment section now :)

I can understand that and it’s really not necessary to visit those blogs immediately. I do it because I don’t like pending work as it piles to my to-do list. I prefer commenting when I have time, not when I have to struggle with household and other chores later, so we need to do such things as and when it suits us. I know you have other important projects you have to work on, and you love helping others too, so that’s first priority and your work that you need to take care of before anything else.

Sorry for mentioning Google even though I didn’t want to bring that up, but as you also mentioned, some people just comment for leaving their links to improve their rank. I agree, their talks are also mostly about backlinks, Adsense, ranks, stats, and all such things. They really don’t bother much about the relationships at all. Again, we can’t really do much except wish them well and hope that with time they realize that this isn’t how things work.

That IS true and the power of blog commenting cannot be overlooked, nor should any of us neglect it. After all it’s only through each others blogs and comments that we know one another better today, isn’t it?

Thanks SO much for your insightful and heartfelt comment, as always Mayura. You always add so much more value to the post. We appreciate it a great deal. Have a nice week as well :)

Hi Mayura,

I’m so very pleased to have Harleena as my guest this month and what better subject to share right! Both of our blogs are places that people feel comfortable coming to and voicing their opinions so for her to share all of her tips on how she’s able to comment is just an added bonus to my blog.

You’ve shared a lot here Mayura and directed to Harleena so I’ll just say thank you so much for sharing this and don’t beat yourself up about not being able to make it to everyone’s blogs. We just appreciate it when you’re able to stop by. We all lead busy lives and mine is getting busier by the day my friend. Finding the time to do it all is becoming more difficult now. Yikes!

Thank you Mayura for your kind words and I do hope that people will be able to learn from us both. By commenting you’re making those connections and that’s where the relationships can start to form.

You have a wonderful week as well my friend.

Harleena and Adrienne, this is fantastic! And since I’m one of the last ones to comment here (but I’m sure many more will come behind me!) I’ll make it sweet and short. First, Haleena, I must congratulate you on your blog, it looks really cool and helpful. Because that is the KEY to success on Internet: to be helpful, to offer a service, to add something useful.

And of course all your tips about commenting are pure gold. I wish I could be as good as you both gals are, real super-stars, and thanks for showing the way!

Hi Harleena and Adrienne,

Awesome post, I really enjoyed all the valuable information you shared in it. Glad to see you write a guest post here on Adrienne’s blog as well!

I have a very similar approach to blog commenting and I use it to build relationships with other people in my niche. And of course, with that comes a lot of other good things such as referral traffic to my site, backlinks, comments and more.

A very powerful stratgey I experimented with on my latest blog post, is to do a “shout out post” and make a list post with some great people in your niche.

For example I wrote a post titled “15 Business Podcasts For Lifestyle Entrepreneurs That Will Rock Your Day”. This post kind of went viral and i also got many comments and share because of it. The biggest names in the industry like Pat Flynn, Natalie Sisson, Andrew Warner, Michael Hyatt etc now knows about me and what I do. Most of them even shared my post all over, and some commented on my blog and emailed me to thank me in person. The key for achieving success with this strategy is to not ask for anything in return when you email the persons you mentioned in the post and tell them about it. They are more likely to share if you just write something simple with the link to your post in the email. And don’t forget to include them when you tweet about the post as well. This strategy really works, and is especially good if you are quite new (like myself) and want to establish a brand and get more traffic, comments and shares fast.

Thanks again for this great post, keep up the good work :)

Hi Navid,

Thank you for your kind wishes, and yes, I am indeed honored to be Adrienne’s guest this month :)

Nice to know that you are already following all that’s mentioned in the post to build relationships with those in your niche as that’s how things work best. Yes indeed, you do get lots of traffic, backlinks and other things too when you comment on blogs, provided you leave good and meaningful comments.

Yes, many bloggers do such kind of posts where they mention other probloggers or take their suggestions and tips and highlight them or write about them. People like such posts too as they are able to relate to their experiences or like their tips and suggestions. I agree with you there because you receive a lot without asking for anything, and perhaps had you asked for any return favor, things mightn’t have worked as well for you. However, I wish you are even able to maintain such relationships beyond the post and even after the strategy is adopted because those are more valuable I think in the long run. You are right, such things are mainly for those who are looking for getting fast traffic, shares, and links to their post, and not really about taking it beyond that.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your strategy of achieving success with us :)

Hi Navid,

Glad you enjoyed what Harleena has to share and sounds like you’re doing really well even as a new blogger.

I can also appreciate you sharing names of people in your niche that you admire and letting them know about it does help with getting more people to your blog. I’ve done things in the past that are similar but I’m going to be honest with you. I didn’t let them know I did it. Why you might ask? I just did it because I thought they were people my readers would want to learn from and I didn’t expect anything in return. I want them to stop by if they want to and I have a feeling that most of those bigger names know how to locate the information that I’m sharing if they want.

I don’t really want one shot wonders myself and for the most part those bigger named bloggers are never going to stop back by my blog and that’s okay. But if they do find content I post worth sharing it’s always appreciated.

Thank you for your comment and for sharing this with us. Another lesson to be learned.

What is better than getting commenting tips from You, Harleena? You are the best commenter I ever noticed on any blog. I am eager to know how you find time and words to write so long and engaging comments?
I loved the tips you have shared. the most important thing while commenting is to write without being selfish. Actually now days you might see that most of the people write useless comments only for the sake of backlink but they don’t even realize that if they start writing better comments then they can get more benefits.
In fact I realized that if you write better comments then only other people spend time to click on your links to check your site too. isn’t it?

Finally, I would like to welcome you in the world of Guest blogging Harleena. :-)

Hi Atish,

So good to see you here at Adrienne’s blog :)

Thank you for saying that – it means a lot coming from you, while I know I am not the best, but yes, I do manage a little my own way.

Ah…good question! Words come with ease to me I think, or perhaps it’s almost like you write what you’d want to say to the blog author or commenter. For example, I am not really thinking much when I am typing this comment reply to you. I am just writing what I am feeling within my heart as I read each line you’ve written, which for me is a kind of a way of chatting with you. So, comments or the reply to comments are actually mini chats we have to express what we feel about the post, or about the comment, aren’t they? I guess because I talk a lot – my comments get a little longer than usual…lol… :)

Regarding finding the time, yes, that at times is an issue for me because I have a family, kids, my dog, in-laws staying close, other writing projects etc to catch up with, besides the blog. But such must be the case with many others, yet they do find the time, don’t they. You also work at a full time job, yet you find time to maintain and manage your wonderful blog.

Time is actually never there, or we always fall short of it, but we always have to ‘make’ the time for doing things we believe in, and the way I manage my time is what’s really worked for me. I might take time replying to comment on my own blog that’s because I feel it’s always the other persons blog I must visit before I forget to as that’s my way of reciprocation also, and would later come to my own…it’s always about others before yourself (for me as I work that way). Yes, I might take a few days after I reply to the initial batch of comments, but I do make sure I reply to all of them, slow and steady. I know a lot of bloggers don’t work this way and that’s absolutely alright too. I guess either way, what matters most is that you are reaching out and connecting with one another, which happens only through our blogs, isn’t it?

Absolutely! Write selflessly, take time for writing comments, and mean what you write. Not just for backlinks, which as a tis you’d get, but because you can relate to what’s written. You are right, you get more benefits when you write a better comment than a superficial one, as that’s bound to get noticed and clicked over the others. Another way to do that is to increase the word count to 50-100 words, which I think you can do if you have CommentLuv, so anyone leaving a comment, would have to write at least those many words before they can leave a comment. I know one doesn’t like doing such things, but how else do you make people realize to write valuable comments.

Thanks SO much for your warm welcome, and I know this is just the start for me and I have a lot more to achieve. I guess I’ll just take it as it comes. Loved your visit here today :)

Hey Atish,

I appreciate you sharing this and sounds like you’ve learned this lesson as well.

I so agree with you, if only people would take the time to write more thoughtful comments they’d have so much more success in this area. Not everyone has to comment like Harleena because there is only one of her but to be genuine in what you’re sharing is really the most important thing. People will notice that and want you to stop by their place so it really benefits everyone.

Thank you again and you enjoy your week.

Hi Harleena,

Glad to see you here and congratulations for your guest post.
I have been blogging for some time and I can say the best way to build up blog relationship is to go and comment purposefully at blogs.
The comments should be a part of the process in building relationship along with sharing the content on the social media.
Though I sometimes miss the task of commenting due to one reason or the other, I try to come back and comment on blogs that I follow as soon as possible.
Thanks for putting out this blog post about commenting . It is a great reminder of how important comments are to blogging :)

Hi Ashvini,

Thank you so much for your kind wishes, and yes, it’s always a pleasure to meet you. I never stop marveling at your tech know-hows, especially when Adrienne and Carolyn mention how you help them, and the other things you keep coming up with – commendable indeed :)

I agree with you there, and I think every blog always has something to learn from. I do find it a little strange when people prefer commenting on only niche related blogs, even though Google recommends that, but aren’t relationships much more than that? Just makes me wonder at times.

Sharing the content after you’ve commented on it is important too, which again very few people do, for reasons best known to them. I always thought it’s in giving that you receive, and even if you don’t, you really don’t lose anything by sharing each other’s post as you’re playing your part in helping the other person.

I know you are such a busy person with all the wonderful work you keep doing, not to mention helping everyone with their blog problems, time must be hard to find. I guess as long as you come back whenever you find the time, it’s all alright because that’s what matters most.

Thank you for taking out your precious time to visit us today. I do hope people can take back something from this post and become better commenters. :)

Hi Harleena,

Great post about blog commenting, this is actually one of my favorite marketing methods to promote my blog.

I started using this method when I discovered Adrienne’s blog awhile ago…(wish I would’ve found out about is sooner) I love using this method.

At first when I got started using this method, I was mostly doing it to get some traffic. I found myself having trouble coming up with good comments to leave. Even though I make it a point to read the whole post or at least part of it before I comment.

Now as I continue to visit blogs on a daily basis and leave comments, I am getting better at leaving better comments and contributing to the actual post. It just takes time, as long as you are consistent you will get better.

I also hate it when I get comments on my blog when you know that visitor did not read the post but they want to just get a link on your blog. I don’t get a lot of those but I have started getting them.

Thanks for sharing these tips and I hope you have a great week.

Hi Susan,

So happy to see you this morning young lady and so glad you enjoyed Harleena’s post. What an awesome share right!

Well I’m just glad you found my blog, better late then never right! Now you have another one to check out.

A lot of people aren’t comfortable commenting so it does take time. I’m such a chatty cathy that it really doesn’t take too much for me. Now if it’s a topic I don’t understand I won’t waste my time.

If people are commenting and you know they didn’t read the post but are just there for the link, delete the comment. It’s your blog and you can do whatever you want. I know you want them there for the right reasons so you stand firm girl.

Thank you for your comment today and you have a great week.

Hi Susan,

Nice to meet you at Adrienne’s blog and I’m glad you’re already using this as one of your marketing methods to promote your blog :)

I can understand that leaving meaningful or good comments might take a little time and effort for some people, but I am sure with practice they only get better. Not to mention that most bloggers tend to comment to drive traffic to their blogs or rank their blogs – very few really make the effort to connect with the blogger, which requires you to visit their blogs consistently and relate with them.

Just as Adrienne mentioned – the chatty chatty kind of people always have something to say and the words just tend to flow with ease for them. But anyone can do that if you can really start writing what you’d have talked had the person been in front of you.

I agree with you and such commenters put me off too. The least they can do is at least spend some time to read what you’ve written before leaving their comments, which they seem unrelated or mere attempts to leave backlinks. I don’t allow the ones that are unrelated or not belonging to the blogger at all and those are trashed immediately.

Thanks for taking out the time to stop by here today. We appreciate that a great deal :)

Wow, this is a ‘thorough’ article on blog commenting, Harleena!

With all of the noise, marketing, selling happening 24/7/365 on the social web – about the only thing that can separate you from it, is your own voice.

If you’re willing to share a piece of your heart, mind and experience with others, and wrap up in your unique personality and view of the world, you will resonate with other souls.

Transperency means “lose all the B.S. and be real,” it works!

Awesome piece, miss!

I guess if you just be yourself and share a bit of you and your experience with others, they are surely going to notice it and connect with you. That’s just how relationships are made, and the ones that last a long time, isn’t it?

Thanks SO much for taking out the time today to stop by here. We appreciate your visit and kind words :)

Dear Harleena,

Very thorough overview of the are of blogging. I liked the analogy that our intention is transferred onto the words and the meaning of the message. If this is formal, it will show and trigger the same response – formality.

I agree that the relationships developed through blog commenting are genuine. As if you know the person in reality. I have had a chance to meet with my sponsor during a company event. And a few more teammates. I was surprised to find out that they were real friend. As if I knew them forever. Hmmm.. I think that the human mind does not differentiate between real and virtual connections.

I value my time and yet, i agree that spending time to develop friendship and exchange ideas is well worth it. Nothing is free in this world. We either pay with time or money. It is cheaper to pay with money. However cheap things often turn out to be not so good. You know what I mean.

Thanks again, Harleena and Adrienne for making this post a reality. Be well.

Hi Margarita,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us on what Harleena has written about blog commenting.

I’m so happy that you were able to meet your teammates and I know what you mean that it’s hard to differentiate between online and offline friendships at times. It’s like you’ve known them forever. Even with us speaking on the phone a few times I feel like I know you so much better. I don’t have to meet you in person to know even more although I’d still love to do that someday.

Appreciate the comment and thank you so much for stopping by today. You have a wonderful week now.

Hi Margarita,

Nice to meet you here at Adrienne’s blog :)

Glad you liked the post and could relate so well with it. Yes indeed, nothing better can come out of genuinely commenting at various blogs other than the strong relationships we build, and they DO last, provided we remain consistent.

Nice to know that you’ve already experienced this with your sponsor and teammates, and yes, even through blog comments, it seems like we are really communicating our feelings and thoughts to the other person. Such connections are pretty awesome, aren’t they?

I agree, nothing is free and everything takes time and effort. You need to invest a little of yourself and your time to build relationships and friendships, whether they are with online or offline friend’s. I think paying with our time here would be any day better than paying through the money :)

Thanks for sharing your views with us here today. Have a nice week ahead as well :)

You are undoubtedly the best person to write this article, lots to learn from you when it comes to blog commenting.
I agree with you completely, Comments should be from your heart. I see of a lot of people comment just because it is a part of their traffic or backlink strategy and the comments doesn’t really mean anything or add value to the post in anyway.

Hi Dhiraj,

So good to see you here, and welcome to Adrienne’s blog :)

Thank you for saying that, though I’ve learned a lot about how I comment from Adrienne herself. Yes indeed, when we comment from our heart we can never really go wrong. In-fact what we share is truly genuine and what we feel, isn’t it?

I know a lot of bloggers comment just to leave links and gain traffic to their blogs, and most of their comments are just 1-2 liners. I do hope this post helps them get better.

Thanks for your kind visit – we appreciate it a great deal :)

Hi Girls, great work as always. Well is it Harleena’s post (congrats on your guest post – nice feeling huh!!) but the commenting queens are all over this post as usual. Raising the bar so high I cannot reach it :> not that I am complaining. I have learned a lot from you both directly and indirectly through your sites and your comments. I am really only getting started in this area of commenting and relationship building. It is so much hard work on top of all the stuff I have learnt about blogging since I started in mid April. But I feel I am getting there and I also have a list of blogs to comment on now as Harleena recommends. I have made some blogging mistakes in the past as well which I try now to make up for. Making sure i read the post and all the comments (except here today as it was honestly too much by the time I got here !!).

So again thanks girls for the great inspiration and I will report back in a few months if putting your strategies to work has paid off – although I am sure they will.
cheers

Hey Ashley,

Harleena has shared some absolute gems here for anyone who wants to take blog commenting to a new high. I’m so thrilled you stopped by and you know that I’m still going to reply to all comments but since it’s her post I prefer to let her answer the majority of the questions that are asked of her. I don’t want to step on anyone’s toes but I do like my commenters to know that I appreciate them stopping by.

I know what you mean about enjoying reading the comments but when there are so many that usually takes even longer then reading the post. But there is still some great in the comments itself so we never know what we’re missing at times too.

Thank you so much for sharing this and good luck to you. You’re doing exceptionally well I might add! ;-)

Enjoy your week.

Hi Ashley,

Glad you liked the post, and thank you for your kind wishes. Oh yes…feeling on top of the world to be here :)

There is only ONE commenting queen, and we all know that, don’t we? Yes, I’ve learnt a great deal from Adrienne and can never thank her enough I’d say. Please don’t say that because blog commenting we all do, it’s just that perhaps I tend to add a few more words so it gets a wee bit too long.

I think learning is a never ending process, and just like, I love to learn new things every single day, and perhaps Adrienne would agree with me there. I guess if we stop learning, we really don’t grow, isn’t it?

I know you are just about getting started and it’s wonderful that you’ve achieved a lot in the short time span. I agree, blog commenting isn’t easy because writing a heartfelt comment does take time and effort, but I think they are worth it in the long run. I guess with more practice you’d learn to write faster, something that I’m still learning to do – nothing to beat Adrienne there, she is SO fast!

I think listing out the blogs you want to visit makes sense because you remain organized that ways and know how long it’s actually taking you doing up the comments daily, so you can chalk out a fixed time, just for commenting.

We ALL make mistakes and that’s how we learn I think, so that’s very normal. I know the post perhaps was a little long, and to read nearly 200 comments before you leave yours isn’t possible always.

Thanks for taking out the time to stop by here today. We appreciate your visit and sharing your views with us :)

Thank you for your kind words of appreciation, and I’m glad you liked these blog commenting tips, which are actually more of what I do or my experiences I’d say.

Yes indeed, the more you interact and connect with people, which happens only through the comments on the various blogs you visit, the better you become in building relationships. With time they do tend to become your online family, and it sure is a pleasure to be part of such a large family, isn’t it?

Hi Harleena and Adrienne,

Loved your post Harleena.

I make a point to read all of Adrienne’s posts and the accompanying comments but I made the mistake of waiting too long to view her post.

Why was that a mistake?

I’m one who likes to read other people’s comments after the post and today I finally gave up after comment number 68 or so.

I often see you, Harleena as one of the first commenter, so I thank you for all of the help you’ve provided me this past year and I honestly don’t know how both of you find the time to personally reply to all of the comments, but I for one, am thankful that you do.

When I first started My first blog about 2 years ago, I paid someone to help me and the first 2 things he recommended was to write at least 3 articles a week and to comment to at least 4 blogs a day.

Though I wish I could say I followed his advice thoroughly, I can tell you that I enjoy visiting this blog regularly and it’s a pleasure to comment on the post.

Thank you both for all of your help,

Guy

Hi Guy,

LOL!!! Yeah, this one is a doozy Guy because Harleena’s post already has quite a few comments even without what we both shared. I appreciate you hanging in as long as you could. Thank you!

I’m so glad Harleena has been so helpful to you Guy, she’s definitely that which is why I like her so much.

The person you paid gave you great advice and if you stick with that schedule consistently you’ll get great results. You don’t always have to write a novel in your comments but do take the time and possibly share your own experiences and people appreciate that. That will take you far and I know Harleena will have more to contribute.

Thank you again and I’m always so happy to see you. Take care and have a great week.

Hi Guy,

Good to meet you at Adrienne’s place :)

Yes, I keep seeing you around on a lot of places too but I think it’s here we were destined to meet, and I’m SO glad you liked the post.

Lol….so sorry for that…I guess the post was a little long perhaps and the comments never seem to end! I think people are just so addicted to her blog, aren’t they?

Oh yes…I’m here among the first ones at most times, though how could I have helped you, I wonder? I am really not as fast as Adrienne is where replying to the comments are concerned – she is SO quick! I take my time, but eventually do reply to the comments on my blog, as I prefer commenting on other blogs first. There is a huge amount I visit, so I tend to lose track if I don’t work that ways I guess.

That’s what most new bloggers do. They write nearly every second day, though I wonder how they manage, or perhaps they seek paid help as you mentioned. Yes, commenting on various blogs does help a great deal, and as Adrienne mentioned, you don’t have to write long. The quality of the comment is what counts more than anything else, and the more you practice, the better you become, just like writing. I think that’s the only thing that helped me in my earlier days too. The social media presence and interactions came much later, though now both of these are the major traffic pullers to my blog.

I agree with you there, and I think it’s Adrienne’s warmth that pulls us all here, isn’t it?

Thank you for your taking out the time to stop by here today. We both appreciate it a great deal, and I’m happy to have been able to help you in someway :)

Harleena and Adrienne,
My goodness! I’m in awe of both of you. Not only do you have 199 (and counting) comments as I’m writing this, but you’re both still responding to comments! That’s crazy! You remind me of Floyd Mayweather, the boxing champion, repeating over and over to himself as he punches the bag, “hard work and dedication”.

Your post is an inspiration, Harleena. One of my goals for my new blog is to grow a community of people leaving great comments on my posts. Well, now I have a model to follow. Seeing is believing!

Congratulations on your new blog and I wish you the very best. If you ever have any questions about anything please feel free to ask. I’m always eager to help.

Hi Cheryl,

Welcome to Adrienne’s blog, and it sure is good to meet you too :)

Oh yes…replying to blog comments is SO essential and Adrienne is a pro in that, and you can see she is so prompt as well. It sure is hard work and you DO need to put in a lot of your time and effort for effective blog commenting, but then who said it was easy :)

I think when you share your feelings and thoughts about the post with the blog author you convey what you want about the post. It’s more of a conversation you have with the person on the other side, and there can be nothing better than that to build relationships that are made this ways. Adrienne and I, along with a lot of other bloggers here and in the blogosphere have been following this very method for a while now and we know it does work. So you can never go wrong when you are your real self.

Thank you for your kind words of appreciation, and I’m happy if my post could inspire you in some ways. I’m sure you’d achieve your goal of having a wonderful blogging community on your new blog too within no time. I guess if you are determined, nothing is impossible, isn’t it? And as Adrienne said, we are always here for you if you ever want any kind of help :)

Thanks so much for stopping by here today and sharing your thoughts with us :)

Hi Harleena and Adrienne

The tips you have given are great. I also believe that building relationships comes first before SEO and all that. It is good to meet the new people on the web world, especially those who keep the similar interest of writing.

I have just started commenting on the blogs and I am not sure I am using the right way or not. But, I hope that my comment will fit to the tips mentioned above. I will be delighted if you suggest what improvements I should make. It is my first comment on this blog, and I am feeling glad to meet you people.

Hi Amit,

I thinks SEO is important to an extent but without the relationships you build with your readers, prospects and/or customers then how can your business continue to grow. We all know that word of mouth is huge.

As long as you are being genuine, you read the entire post and add your thoughts to it Amit then you are commenting the right way. As Harleena suggested here, be true to yourself and do it for the right reasons.

Thank you for your visit today, always nice to see some new faces. Appreciate you stopping by and adding to the conversation so thank you and enjoy your week. Keep up the great work.

Hi Amit, and welcome to Adrienne’s blog :)

Glad you liked the tips mentioned. Yes indeed, relationships always come first. Just as Adrienne mentioned, if you don’t build the trust with people, don’t interact with them, how would they ever relate or connect with you. How’d they know who you are? You can’t really make it without building relationships I think.

Yes, SEO is required to a certain extent because that’s what makes you visible in the searches too. But that isn’t the start and end of it all. I think our blogs should go much beyond just SEO, ranks, stats, and all those things, shouldn’t they?

If you are just your honest and true self when you connect with people, they are sure to make you out – and with time they’d make out that you are genuine, which again happens once you keep visiting the blogs often (not just one visit!), without expecting much. It’s almost like learning to give before you receive anything in return, but the returns when they come, come in plenty :)

If you just follow what’s suggested in this post, and add a little of your experience and use your voice, you can never go wrong. Yes, DO make it a point to take out time to read the post before commenting, and then add your own experiences alongside to what you feel about it. And if you like the post, it’s always good to share it with your social circles too, isn’t it? You really lose nothing much, instead gain good friend’s.

Hope this helped :)

Thanks for stopping by here today, and if you have any other questions, please feel free to ask. We are always here to help you in any way if we can :)

Hi Harleena

Great to see you as the guest at Adrienne’s. You know as soon as I started to read Adrienne’s intro I knew it would be you. I am amazed you have never done a guest post before as I just see you everywhere.

This is such a great post. I laughed though when you gave the advice to read all of the comments before you comment. That is great advice and I do it on most but not Adrienne’s. I read some but I am here always after 100 comments – today nearly 200 and you are first here always :-)

I agree with Gladys this is way more than a post it is a valuable article and should be put out as a guide to commenting. I think many people that do not follow the protocol just do not know. I was taught the formalities of blogging and commenting by Kimberly Castleberry so at least I started out with some idea but not everyone gets that.

I cannot comment if I feel the subject is not one I know much about that is just too sort of fake really.

I love your post and agree with everything you said here.

Adrienne thanks for having Harleena here.

Blessings to you both.

Hi Sue,

Great to see you here too :)

Ah…you too could make out! I guess people can easily guess, can’t they? Though I wonder how!

This IS the first one, and I wonder if I’d ever got started, had it not been for Adrienne’s invitation a few months back. I guess I’m just too happy and content in my own world, and honestly have lots on my hand, or perhaps never ever thought of guest posting as a means to drive traffic to my blog, or to be recognized as a blogger – as they say guest blogging opens wider horizons. Perhaps being happy with what I’d got could be another reason, but there was just NO question of refusing when she asked and I just thought, why not start off with it now :)

Lol…. sorry for that wrong advice on Adrienne’s posts! I guess I should have clarified in the post (except on this blog!) because of the numerous comments she gets here. But of course it does get tough to read beyond the first few, nor does anyone have so much of time in hand. I’m first here mostly, but that’s because the time’s in my favor, and that’s why I’m over at yours too I think because the time fits in with the time I start my blog commenting.

Thank you for your kind words of appreciation. I just shared ALL that I really know about commenting on blogs and that’s what I follow, all thanks to Adrienne. I agree with you there, most bloggers nowadays tend to leave superficial comments, or just a few lines to leave their links behind. This even tends to put-off your regular blog readers and commenters at times.

You were lucky to have Kim teach you that. I had no one, or perhaps I was just a writer for such a long time that blogging wasn’t really what I had thought of ever doing. So, to know the right ways of doing it happened only with time, and once I started visiting those bloggers blogs who visited mine, because I knew no one from the Blogosphere before that. I guess I can SO well relate to all that a new blogger goes through, having been through that phase. I just hope this post can help them in some ways.

Yes, it’s tough to comment on all kinds of posts, though because of my niche perhaps and the various blogs I visit, I do manage to leave a few lines if not more – even with my tech and gadget kind of friend’s. I guess I feel bad because they visit my blog so often, so once in a while I do go over to theirs and try hard to understand what they’ve written and leave a comment :)

Thanks SO much for your heartfelt comment Sue. I appreciate it a great deal, and I know so would Adrienne. :)

Hi Sue,

I’m so thrilled to have Harleena here this month and I was so excited when she had told me she’d never written a guest post before. Why not break her in good right! Only 24 hours up and look at all these comments, granted she and I have both contributed as well.

I know what you mean Sue about reading all the comments too. The more there are then I skim them all because that sometimes takes longer then just reading the post. lol…

This is a fabulous post I agree and I do hope most will use it as their guide from now on. I mean who better to learn from right!

I appreciate you stopping by Sue no matter what the time difference is for you. I just appreciate you sharing your thoughts about this subject as well and it’s always so nice to see you. I’m just so thrilled to have Harleena with us this month.

Have a great rest of your week and see you tonight.

Hi Harleena and Adrienne!

Happy Hump Day… I’m late getting over here again, I’m afraid.

Harleena, I can’t believe this is your first guest post. That really surprised me! Isn’t it lucky that we know Adrienne and were both fortunate to have our first ever guest posts right here on her wonderful blog.

What I love about you, Harleena, is that you are very thoughtful in the comments you make. Not only that, but they offer such value to a blog’s readers as well as being thorough.

I’m not sure I could always achieve that but what I do like about blog comments is that they add value to the blog post itself in many cases. The blog post isn’t the end of the story, it’s just the beginning and the comments are where things get played out.

I once tried to get to Adrienne’s first to comment but by the time I’d written a long comment, someone had already beat me to it. Guess who it was? You! I really love the way people strive to get the first comment and it shows a healthy community spirit.

I read an article a few weeks ago that Google only take into account the first 60 comments on a blog in terms of SEO. I can’t remember where I read that but it would mean that making comments earlier rather than later is of utmost importance! I also haven’t read that anywhere else since so I’m not sure how true that is.

I haven’t been blog commenting as much as I used to or should be. It is certainly a great way to create connections and to get referral traffic. I’ve been working on developing my niche site and adding more content to my main blog. I do intend to step up the commenting again soon though.

Great to see you here Harleena and thank you to Adrienne for giving you the opportunity!

Hey Tim,

Happy Hump Day to you too and I hope you see that I beat you on Twitter today! Sneaky, I know! lol…

I couldn’t believe that neither of you had written one before Tim but I was so blessed to get you both first. Of course they were both big hits as I expected them to be and I hope you both enjoyed the experience.

I agree with you about Harleena’s comments Tim. She does take a lot of time to put some thought into what she shares and I know that every time she graces a blog they are going to be happy she stopped by and shared her views.

I admire anyone who can comment first because I’m horrible at getting to other people’s blogs but at least I make it and I guess that will have to do. I don’t think anyone can beat Harleena.

I’ve never heard that or read that anywhere either Tim so I’m wondering how true that is about the first 60 comments having more SEO value. Huh, interesting.

Any time you stop by Tim is a good time. I just enjoy seeing you and know that you’re busy with other things as we all are. Just hope everything is going well for you and keep up the work on both your blogs. Yeah, double the work now my friend.

Thank you again and I so appreciate your comment.

Hi Tim,

Happy Hump Day….and you are never late here, you know that (That’s what Adrienne too would say I think!)

Oh yes…my very first one ever, just as it was yours last month! Just as I was telling Sue above, I wonder if I’d ever got started with guest posts had it not been for Adrienne’s invitation a few months back. Then too I think I asked for a few months time before I finally got down to it. I agree with us being the lucky ones to start off on such a wonderful blog :)

Well, thank you so much for saying that, but I think you too are just like that, along with many of the commenters here. Another thing I’ve noticed is that most of the commenters here are thoughtful, and they take care to read the post and leave their valuable comments (I can see that as I’m replying to each one of them). I guess it’s the way the blog owner replies and interacts that starts having a gradual positive effect on the commenter too. So, it all comes down to Adrienne and the wonderful way she communicates with those who visit her blog.

Yes indeed, I strongly believe in adding more to the post, and as you rightly mentioned, the blog post isn’t the start and end of it all. It’s the comments that make the lifeline of the post because it’s through them you can make out the true essence of the content and how people have liked it through their interaction, isn’t it? It makes me wonder how people can just post without receiving any comments because there are many who either just turn off the comments, or wouldn’t really care much about the handful of comments they receive.

Lol…sorry for that! But to be honest, that’s happened with me too a few times. Either my kids came asking for something, or I got distracted due to some other reason and by the time my long comment was published, there were already a few before me. I think because most of us know Adrienne’s spot on time of posting her post, so we are able to reach here on time. Not to mention her newsletter that lands within a few seconds after the post is published – lots to learn from her. I still need to get down to being as regular – with time I guess :)

Is that so? That’s news to me! But that wouldn’t mean it’s you or me making the comment if it’s just taking the SEO into consideration. Perhaps Google just sees the content in the comment and if it’s related to SEO, is that so? If that be the case, I think I’d better rethink on the way I comment on my blog and should start replying to the comments as they come first, instead of taking them up gradually a little later. May be that’s one reason most bloggers always end their replies to comments before doing anything else. I’ve also noticed some bloggers keep ALL the comments in moderation for a few hours and then show them all together and reply them one by one – I wonder why again? I wonder what Adrienne would suggest about this.

You’re not alone, and I know you too lead a very busy life Tim. I also feel like that times and it does become tough to catch up with everyone, every time. Why? Because your relationships keep increasing with the number of commenter’s who visit your blog. I really marvel at the way Adrienne manages to visit all the blogs soon after they visit hers or otherwise too.

I can understand what you mean about reducing the comments because you need to concentrate on other things. I just read Jon Marrow’s latest post yesterday where he mentioned that to create or build on something, you need to cut down on other things, and that’s how growth really occurs. While I agreed with what he said, he also mentioned cutting or reducing down on your friends and being smart, something I wonder how I’d ever do, after all it’s because of then that we are here. But perhaps there was some truth in what he was saying, and maybe that’s what you have to do so that you can really work on your niche site and build your blog.

Thank you so much for taking out the time to stop by here today. We appreciate it a great deal :)

Hi Harleena Adrienne;

Wow! what a pleasurable read. I really am new to blogging and Guest posting. sorry I didn’t manage to get through all the comments so i do apologize.

For me, this has really changed the way I think of commenting on other peoples blog posts. I honestly didn’t think their was so much to consider, but thinking about it now it make such perfect sense.

Blogging is quite hard for me at times as I suffer from dyslexia, So I have tended to keep things short & sweet in my comments & posts. It might be me but the format of the page I think really does make a difference the font size, blog post layout just makes it that tad more pleasurable to read.

Warmest regards: Wayne

Hi Wayne and welcome to my blog. So happy you stopped by today and got to read this amazing fabulous post from my lovely guest, Harleena.

Here at my blog or Harleena’s it’s oftentimes hard to get through all the comments. We have such a wonderful community but we appreciate you taking the time to read the post.

With you being new to blogging then I’m doubly thrilled that you have read this post. This will help you start off on the right foot and I know for me commenting is the best way to build those lasting relationships with people who will support not only your blog but you and your business. Community is where this is heading and the way Google continues to change things so often I think this is where everyone should concentrate their efforts.

I’m sorry for your condition but you did a fabulous job commenting here Wayne. I congratulate you for reading this entire post and commenting as well. I hope my post wasn’t difficult to read and I do prefer the more simple look and a little larger font. Hope that was helpful to you.

Thank you again and good luck with everything.

~Adrienne

Hi Wayne, and welcome to Adrienne’s blog :)

Nice to know more about you and I can understand that things do take time, especially when you are just starting off.

Don’t worry about the comments because they surely ARE quite a many always on Adrienne’s blog. I guess reading the initial few is also good enough if you wish to, otherwise the post content is always there. I know it all takes a lot of time, which is always tough to find, isn’t it?

I’m glad you could find something to consider through this post. I think the more you are able to reach out and connect with the blog author, the better you are able to relate to each other, and all of this can only happen through our blog comments. You DO build a strong blogging community of friend’s with the relationships you build in the Blogosphere, and I think most commenters on this blog are proof of that. A little care, and just being your own true self is all it really takes to add that personal touch to your comments.

That’s absolutely alright. You really don’t have to write long posts, nor comment long. I think its the quality that counts more and how you weave your words that brings people to your blog that one needs to concentrate on, and as I can see through your comment that you are good at that – so keep it up I’d say and keep doing what you are doing. :)

I agree with you there – the broader the page and comment box, and the larger the fonts, does make a huge difference. I also like those myself and I think Adrienne’s done that perfectly on her blog.

Thank you for taking the time to visit us today – much appreciated :)

Hi Harleena and Adrienne,

Great tips. I used to comment a lot more, but lately, I haven’t been able to focus as much on blogging and commenting, but I’ll be back fairly soon. To me, the biggest hurdle is time. I have been working hard to keep my clients happy, so, when it was time to start blogging and commenting, I was just too tired to do it (and many times I have just forgotten all about it, after a long day at work).

Have a wonderful day.

Hey Jens,

Long time no see, how have you been my friend? I know you’ve been super busy with work and that festival you put on. I hope that was a huge success.

Any time you want to stop by is fine with me. I know what you mean though about running out of time. I’m having this same issue in another area and by the time I finish the majority of my work I should spend more time on my product and I’m just worn out. I certainly don’t want to mess that one up so I’m having to seriously restructure my day and I’m having a hard time figuring out what to put on the back burner because everything is important.

Hope you’re not wearing yourself out though and I sure appreciate seeing you. Take care and have a great rest of your week.

Hi Jens,

Glad you liked the tips and could relate to them :)

I can understand that and we do know you’ve been busy, just as Adrienne mentioned. It does get tough to be all over and do everything. I guess some things do need to take a back seat depending on what our priorities are. Happens with me so often too, so don’t worry.

Lack of time is what we need to work on, and as they say time is never there, it’s to be made. I know perhaps once your work is over, you’d be back again to your usual self and have a little more time in hand, so it really doesn’t matter if you take a few weeks off from blog commenting, though it’s good that you made it here, which makes us both so happy :)

I can relate to the tiredness so well – again which most bloggers must also be undergoing because a major part of blogging is also commenting and visiting other blogs, and all of this does take time, effort, patience, and overall IS tiring. Do take care of yourself and don’t tire yourself because health should be your first priority. Not to mention that you also have a family to take care of. People tend to think that we are working from home or keep sitting all day, so how can we get tired! They need to see the effort put, isn’t it?

Thanks so much for taking our your precious time and stopping by here today. We do appreciate it a great deal :)

Hi Harleena & Adrienne,

You made some good points here and I enjoyed your article. Maybe it’s already a cliche but I would like to do more blog comments on my favorite blogs. With my regular job and blog aside I’m always short of time but that’s not the excuse.

I remembered I’ve read on Copyblogger (one of my favorite blogs) the topic something like this “Is blog commenting waste of time?” and Brian wrote that instead of being seen on every post they made it would be better to focus on the quality piece of content on our own blogs.

Well I was a little suprised since Copyblogger is famous by large audience and great comments (just like you Adrienne ;) .

I’d be interested to know Harleena what’s your criteria when deciding whether or not to leave comment on the lets say new blog. I’m asking you because I’ve asked you via twitter I think two times if you’d like to leave a comment about your writing backdrop and you haven’t replied nor commented. Funny thing Adrienne did comment on that post (thanks again for that Adrienne).

Again, great and inspiring post.

Hi Dragan,

Thanks for dropping by and I appreciate you taking the time. Just like you mentioned here, commenting on blogs is very time consuming and I so admire those that have a full-time job, a family to take care of and still blog and comment. I’m in awe of those people.

I’ve heard that same thing said about guest posting from some “top pro bloggers” Dragan. That instead of guest posting and putting your best content on other people’s blogs that you should concentrate more on putting it on your own. I get that which is why I don’t guest post a lot but if you put yourself out there and comment more then you’ll start to be seen by more people. Those people will eventually stop by your place and that’s how you build up a faithful following. It all takes time and one week or even one month won’t cut it.

I’ll let Harleena answer your other question directed at her specifically Dragan but you’re welcome.

Thank you again for your comment and you have a wonderful end to this fabulous week.

Hi Dragan,

Good to meet you here at Adrienne’s blog, and I’m glad you liked the article :)

Blog commenting is not easy at all, and I can well understand that it’s pretty tough to manage a full time job and manage a blog alongside, not everyone can do that, but those who do – hats-off to them.

I agree with Adrienne there, even those who are managing their other side businesses or blogging only part time, or those who have their families and kids to take care, yet manage to blog – are doing a great job! I can say being a mom myself, yet having to wear many hats, so I know it’s not easy :)

I’ve heard that too and I think that’s really every individual’s way of thinking. Speaking of myself, I think I’d always put up helpful and good content, whether on my blog or on anyone else’s, without thinking twice because for me it’s more about trying to help the maximum number of people through my posts. It hardly matters if it’s on my own blog or a guest blog. What matters most is the people who would eventually read and benefit from it. I guess we need to think beyond mine and yours, and think more for the people, isn’t it?

In-fact, if I had to choose, I’d rather put my best on my guest post because that’d be my showcase to the world, it’s kind of a portfolio. And as Adrienne mentioned, you are going to someone else’s blog – interacting and meeting their readers, who might be new to you. So, shouldn’t you give something of value to them? It’s when they read this and like it, would they like to head over to your blog. Well, those are just my thoughts about it :)

I wouldn’t mind leaving a comment on a new blog at all, especially if it’s a known persons blog. Otherwise, I might just remove my link if it’s really new and I’m not sure about it, and comment there if that persons visited my blog a few times, and I do that sometimes if it’s a very new blog. Ideally, one should avoid it as per Google’s suggestion as I’ve mentioned in the post also, but if the person is a regular commenter on my blog, and the blog does belong to him/her and if I’ve allowed his link to come through, why not?

I cannot forget my time, or perhaps you might remember your time too when you were a new blogger. Had it not been for someone to allow our links on their blog, or had others not commented on our new blogs, how’d we have made it to here? I may be wrong in my way of thinking and I see many bloggers don’t approve the links of new bloggers, nor do they visit their blog because they think of their ranks and SEO and Google factor, which I find very sad. I guess we need to place ourselves in their shoes and think about them a little, isn’t it?

I’m afraid, I’ve not got any message from you regarding this on Twitter at all. Had I got it, I’d certainly have replied because I’m very regular on Twitter and all the messages. Sorry for this, but honestly Dragan, I’d certainly have replied or said a yes or no at least had I received a message from you. :)

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your views with us, and I apologize once again if you felt that way. Have a nice rest of the week :)

Hi Madam Andrenne vs Harleena,

Am just short of words, this was what madam Adrienne told me when I contacted her about being a guest author on this great blog but she simply analysed the procedure which I understood to the fullest then and now the crown had fell on madam Harleena, am happy to see you here as a guest blogger madam.

Blog comment is my second best friend and with what I read I think I hit a jackpot about reading through others view before passing my won justice butI believed I was wasting my time then and now I am convinced that doing that was not a bad habit at all. Blog comment has gone far in helping my blog atleast and got scared when I had you both on my blog as a commenter and I was deeply excited and that alone is enough to convinced me that blog comment is the backbone of a blog because Google don’t play with blog comment and it encourages conversation. Leaving a comment from the heart is the best of all in which I will have to buy the idea and learn fully from that. Thank for sharing this madam.

Hi Adesanmi,

I am in no way a queen dear friend, just another blogger like you – so the crown isn’t mine :)

I’m sure with time you too might be invited by Adrienne. I know she’s got a long waiting list with many bloggers lined up, so we just consider ourselves lucky whenever we are invited :)

Blog commenting comes foremost for both Adrienne and me I think – it has always been like that. At least for me when I started blogging, the comments that came in were the only way I had an outlet to the Blogosphere. And it was through my return visits to those who visited my blog, and the regular interactions that slowly the relationships developed. I think nothing works better than commenting on blogs, and it really doesn’t matter whether they are of your niche or not also (I know many people might disagree with me here), but I am proof enough, and so is Adrienne’s blog where you have the masses coming in, from all different niches.

I agree about Google liking comments, and even if it doesn’t, don’t we all love them? I think receiving comments are any bloggers dream, though we do have to make efforts for that, at least till we reach a pro level, but I think even then, I don’t think we should stop commenting, isn’t it?

Heartfelt comments can never go wrong because you mean what you say from your heart, which is genuine. Do try it out and let me know how it worked for you :)

Thanks for taking out the time to visit us today. We appreciate that :)

Hi Adesanmi,

Yes, Harleena has been visiting my blog for way over a year now so she definitely deserves this time and I’m just so thrilled that she agreed to guest post for me. She’s done an amazing job as well.

I was nervous commenting on other blogs as well Adesanmi when I first started this process but the people I was learning from told me it was the best way to get traffic to my blog and they were right. I consistently kept it up and eventually people started to stop by my place. I believe through the conversations I was having with them and enjoying what they shared is what helped in keeping them coming back for more. I know that through this process you’ll meet a lot of really wonderful people so you just keep up.

Thank you so much for your comment and you have a wonderful end to this marvelous week.

Harleena and Adrienne,

Harleena, Good to see you on Adrienne’s Blog.

Great post on blog commenting. I agree with everything you have said.

I remember I was so nervous the first time I commented on any blog post. I commented on Barry’s post and he was so nice to me. My comment was not really as bad as I thought it was at the time but I had not been really clear and Barry helped me out. That really gave me the incentive to comment again.

I think if you comment from your heart and intelegently then your comment will be a good one.

I think it is good you pointed out that many blogs have commenting rules. It is always good to check out those rules to make sure that blog does not have a rule you are not aware of. If the blog does not have any rules listed then there are definitely some unwritten rules that appy to every blog.

If people follow your instructions there is no reason for anyone not to have a great comment all of the time.

Adrienne, I told you I would make it here in the 200s. I am just really slow.

Hey Dee Ann,

LOL!!! Yeah girl you finally made it into the 200′s. But hey, you made it right and I so appreciate you taking the time to stop by. I know how busy you are and how long this post was so I appreciate it.

I just really loved what Harleena shared and from someone who really takes the time to comment from the heart this should be a guide for everyone to follow. There really are some unwritten rules with commenting whether someone has them in place on their blogs or not. To me it’s just being respectful of others you know.

Thanks again Dee Ann and you have a great rest of your week. I know what you’ll be doing this weekend.
