A new De Beers mine in Venetia outside Musina in Limpopo is expected to create about 4000 jobs.

"We are averaging in the order of 38 million tons per annum of waste and added to that is between five to six million of timberline roughly over the six five to six years we will be in the order of 40 to 43 tons million per year overall but then underground with the lot less waste that will be at the order of six and half million rand a year that will be for the full term of underground up to around 2040," says  Maltitz.
