FAI President's letter - July 2014

Regarding Elections at the General Conference

Dear Air Sport Friends,

Although it might seem a long time yet until we meet in Pattaya, Thailand, for the 108th FAI General Conference (please see www.108faigcpattaya2014.com) I feel I should update you on the situation regarding the applications and nominations.

As for the Conference itself we are continuously monitoring the situation and we are convinced that we will have an excellent and safe Conference.

Executive Directors Otto Lagarhus and Beat Neuenschwander have decided not to stand for re-election. I take this opportunity of thanking them whole-heartily for their devotion and contributions. I am sure you are all well aware of the work done by Mr. Lagarhus regarding the strategic planning for FAI and the introduction of Regional Vice Presidents, and the work by Mr. Neuenschwander regarding the Expert Group system and all the issues regarding the changes at our Head Office. Apart of course from their constant contributions to the work of the Executive Board and FAI as a whole. You will meet them at the General Conference to thank them personally.

The other present members of the Executive Board have informed me they are available for re-election. I thank them warmly for this and wish to stress that they have done and are doing an excellent job for all of us. They have my full support in their candidature.

As I mentioned in my previous letter I am also seeking re-election, should you choose so.

I have great trust in the wisdom of the General Conference to find the new President and Executive Board in the best interest of our Federation. Since, however, there is a statutory deadline for applications for nominations to the Executive Board, I wish to remind you of this and to submit these to FAI Head Office before July 15.

Thereafter HO will inform you who are running for the Executive Board.

Meanwhile I wish you wonderful and safe flying!

Soft landings,

John Grubbström
FAI President
