NEWARK, DE - October 16, 2014 - The Delaware 87ers today announced that Kevin Young has been promoted to Head Development Coach ahead of the 2014-15 NBA Development League season.

“Coach Young embodies the characteristics that our organization values,” said 87ers General Manager Brandon Williams. “In addition to being a valued team member within our culture, Kevin has shown strong commitment to the development of our young players. He is a tireless worker, with a strong appetite to learn and grow as a coach, which is key to our progress. I know he relishes this opportunity, and we are excited about Kevin leading the development program in Delaware.”

As an assistant coach for the 87ers in 2013-14, Young helped develop Thanasis Antetokounmpo into a second-round pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. Young also served as an assistant coach for the Philadelphia 76ers during NBA Summer League 2014.

Young has coached in the NBA D-League since 2007, where he has been on the bench for both the Utah Flash and Iowa Energy. Young was also the head coach of the Shamrock Rovers Hoops in the 2006-07 Irish Super League season. Before that, Young spent time as an assistant coach at both Utah Valley State University and Oxford College.

Prior his coaching career, Young was a team captain at Clayton State University, where he is still a record-holder for assists and steals.
