Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

A new board book gives youngest readers a share of the Passover celebration. In Varda Livney's What I Like About Passover, cheerfully colored cartoons show a girl as she lists her favorite elements of the holiday, from the seder plate (its contents are labeled in Hebrew) and the Haggadah to "being with all of you!" (she sits amid a multigenerational crowd at the holiday table). Explanations of the rituals don't appear; this title is for those who, like the narrator, are at home with the holiday.

From School Library Journal

reSchool--A little girl recites what she likes about this Jewish holiday, such as bright candles, the Seder plate, "crunchy matza," and "being with all of you!" Each page is completely covered with softly colored, clearly defined illustrations that show just the right amount of detail. There is one concept per page except for the opening spread, picturing the lighting of the candles, and the last, showing a family at the Seder table. No explanations of any of the Passover objects or activities are given so most children will need some clarification for concepts like "the four questions" or an unfamiliar word such as "afikoman." A welcome addition when shared with a knowledgeable adult.
