NHK, Apr. 10, 2015 (emphasis added): About 160 dolphins washed ashore on a beach in Ibaraki [50 miles south of Fukushima border]… A local aquarium says this type of dolphin… is usually found in deeper waters. It says it is unusual for so many to be washed ashore.

Japan Times, Apr 11, 2015: 149 melon-headed whales [washed up] in Hokota. Seven more were stranded in nearby municipality of Kashima.

AFP, Apr 10, 2015: Television footage showed several animals from the large pod had been badly cut, and many had deep gashes… “We see one or two whales washing ashore a year, but this may be the first time we have found over 100 of them on a beach,” a coastguard official told AFP… Several animals were writhing in a futile effort to move.

Inquisitr, Apr 10, 2015: A Japanese coast guard official has said that he is witnessing this phenomenon for the first time in his life… According to BBC News, these species of dolphins are usually only found in the deep waters of the ocean. It is extremely rare for them to show themselves up on the beach… this might be the biggest single case of mass beaching of dolphins that have been reported from Japan… This case of dolphins beaching themselves is eerily similar to another phenomenon that has been noted recently… young sea lion pups ending up on the beach – starving and dazed.

Mainichi, Apr 11, 2015: Kashima Coast Guard station transported and released three of the melon-headed whales… but most of the dolphins died and were buried on the beach… According to Toshiya Kishiro, head of the whale resources group at the National Research Institute of Far Seas Fisheries… a possible reason for this most recent beaching is that the dolphins had parasites in their inner ears.

AP, Apr 10, 2015: Tadasu Yamada, a cetacean expert at the National Museum of Nature and Science [said] the dolphins may have had a physiological or psychological problem and faced an unknown threat and panicked…

Yamada: “We don’t see any immediate signs of diseases on their bodies, such as cancer. We want to figure out what killed these animals.”

Slate, Apr 10, 2015: Many animals that become stranded are later found to be ill.

AFP, Apr 11, 2015: The mass beaching… has fuelled fears of a repeat of [the 2011] earthquake… a flurry of online commentators pointed to the appearance of around 50 melon-headed whales… six days prior to the monster quake… More than 100 pilot whales died in a mass stranding on a remote New Zealand beach on February 20, 2011, two days before a large quake… Japanese officials nevertheless tried to calm fears and insisted there was no scientific data to prove the link.

I agree that the internet is a great communication tool but sometimes it seems that rather than taking physical action people just sit at a computer. Also it keeps people from gathering together in real groups. Its kind of like driving a car, you can be stuck in traffic in the same spot every day and never know the people in your same situation. If everyone was walking or riding bike there would be more community. Am I the only one that feels like the internet is a blessing for those trying to keep this twisted system going because hardly anyone feels they have to do anything more than type their disapproval. Before the internet people got together and took physical action against injustice and batshit crazies. Sometimes these actions bore fruit. Nowadays everyone stays at home or in their cars and the madness just spins out of control faster every day.

Their lies were untold by this community, myself included; Since admin began the forum in march 2011.

There is no doubt an information extraction taking place from Tepco Pr and Physicists the like. Whom gauge our responses and antidotes to a great extent.

Believe that every user here has contributed to progress and progression. Do you think the webcams would be up without us? What about the Fogging events (emissions)? Would they have been mentioned?

What about when the employee at tepco pointed at the camera and gave a speech. Who do you think Noticed that first? Cause it wasn't cnn. And It wasn't fox. And In my opinion. Of the 7.6 billion people on the planet. There are likely only 20,000 people that knew any of those situations took place. (2000 of them being in japan / or tepco).

We are a special breed of humanitarians, that put our planet first. There is no other way of looking at it.
All users here show they have an intellectually superior and emotionally inferior connection with life itself. While we all could have chosen to look away, we didn't.

I could barely bring myself to read this article, let alone look at the pictures of the stranded dolphins.

I'm a big supporter of enenews, have been since the beginning. I've battled my fair share of nuke trolls on the site, especially in the beginning. I'm a big fan of dark humor to cope with this unfolding ecological cataclysm, which most of us saw coming from day 1. This thread has lots of dark humor, understandable given the idiotic pronouncement that the dolphins may have had "psychological problems".

I'm very good with sarcastic, dark humor, but in this case, I'd like to take a moment to say a prayer for these beautiful sentient creatures that we have murdered with human greed, arrogance, and stupidity. Remember, we're only seeing the ones that have stranded. Several times more probably died out in the open ocean. We deserve what's coming, these creatures didn't.

The "enemy" is NOT the US Military. The enemy has gained "control" of the US Military and is destroying our country and those who survive are enslaved by "whatever" loathsome creature or species of beings used trickery and fear to install a handful of foul beings I'm obviously reluctant to label "human-beings" since they don't quite qualify insofar as what a good and kind-hearted example of the kind of "real" people I am proud of and would be HONORED to be thought of by other like-minded Earthing's whose souls & spirits represent the kind of person I aspire to be and who hold the idea's & sentiment and good will that should be possessed by the USA and rest of the world's elite! I suffer low-esteem & self-image issues, much of which stems from my many examples of failure & lack of the agenda or drive to better my own situation at the expense of others with few exceptions. I've never accepted a dime from someone that I didn't appreciate & intend to repay, most of,if not in full and 10x over should good fortune befall me and I passed up opportunities to assume positions that would have allowed me great material wealth & power at the expense of those I would have "used" as my personal "stepping-stones" to success. There are far more "good" people who enlist or accept commissions as officers for a variety of reasons than there are "bad" apples within their ranks and I'd cite examples if TPTB weren't so keen to learn of & respond to "internal threats"…

But, over the past few years, the frequency and the degree of this violence has gone up drastically – the beatings and tortures have given way to outright murders and executions. It is resembling more and more like the hunting season – the duck hunting. Armed to the teeth, police seems to be enjoying killing their victims in a volley of bullets. @ Bungalow Phil; There are far too many unqualified,improperly-trained and/or just plain sadistic, overzealous LE officers to begin with! The new programs giving police departments leftover,"war surplus" military-grade weapons, including those that fall under the TRUE definition of "assault weapons",ie;"portable firearms that gives each SOLDIER a firearm capable of firing more than one bullet with a single pull of the trigger, chambered for high-powered rifle ammunition capable of penetrating light body armor and/or obstacles/barricaded positions that uses either high-capacity magazines or belt-fed ammunition",NOT,"semi-automatic,civilian,replica versions of the above,properly-defined "assault-weapons"!! So by giving these TRUE "assault weapons" to LE Dept.'s nationwide comes with it the new threat of a long burst of highly-penetrative projectiles fired at alleged criminals running away from alleged crime scenes through highly-populated cities & towns coming through windows, walls, etc. & statistically more likely to maim or kill innocent civilians inside their own homes, vehicles, out walking their dogs, etc.than the perps they intended to fill full of lead[??!!] :( I wish there was more "specific details"given by gun-control advocates with re;to "who is shooting who",not just the innocent victims & kids deaths being despicably politicized to forward/serve the true agenda of TPTB who promote/support more BS laws while they"selectively"can't/won't enforce…

It's pretty simple actually, just END the War on Drugs with sensible laws, regulation & even taxes that would benefit ALL and the turf ward in minority neighborhoods would cease overnight! The number of shootings & murder by guns would suddenly be less than vehicular homicide, stabbings, beatings or any other "tools" that are used for heinous crimes!! With that,I disengage from the OT "gun control" argument I have been occasionally annoyed by & surprised a bit upon learning who brought it up & actually believes in it. I'm deeply sorry for anyone who suffered losses at the end of a gun,but I feel pretty bad for those who might have been saved if they'd had one too! "Gun Control" should be one of the subjects added to the list of "taboo" issues here on ENE & I'll be the 1st to abide by it in advance!! PEACE

Johnny Blade-I agree with alot of your positions. I have had law enforcement in my family for generations. Small town law enforcement. Different than the heavy shit that goes down elsewhere. The local police rarely pull their weapons, much less shoot an unarmed suspect in the back. There seems to be a psychological thread that permeates the ranks of the larger departments and some states in the south. It may be in the training or in the dept. themselves between the rank and file.
To compound matters, I don't think all of these violations are legit. Overriding compassion and common sense takes a lot of repetitive programing. Keeping the people fearful and on edge is the how the powers stay in power. And peace to you and yours.

    "National Geographic’s Anti-Science Stand #3: Might-Is-Right Evolution
Although Darwinian evolution may provide a welcome alternative for some to the Catholic Church’s doctrine of Creationism, the truth is that we are facing another false dichotomy where neither side has all the truth. The theory of evolution may explain some things well, but it fails to fully understand the role of cooperation and symbiosis among species and the ecosystem. The whole idea of a dog-eat-dog, might-is-right, survival-of-the-fittest world is totally in line with the way that the predatorial elite class thinks. They view the rest of humanity and the world as a resource to be used and exploited for their own personal gain. Devoid of empathy and compassion, they see this as the rightful and moral way of things. A closer examination of Darwin reveals that his father was a 33rd degree Mason, that Freemasonry (one of the most powerful Secret Societies on Earth) funded the theory of evolution because it destroyed people’s idea of God and their spiritual sides, and drew people’s attention to lower matters (base level survival) rather than higher ones (love and harmony)."

Mass Whale Beaching Re-Ignites Quake Fears Among Japanese – #1424

Six days prior to Japan’s devastating 2011 undersea earthquake that killed over 18,000 people, around 50 melon-headed whales – a species that is a member of the dolphin family – beached themselves on Japan’s beaches. Now, 4 years later, and despite a lack of scientific evidence linking the two events, many Japanese took to social media in fear as the mass beaching of over 150 melon-headed whales on Japan’s shores has fueled fears of a repeat of the monster quake, which unleashed a towering tsunami and triggered a nuclear disaster.

The mass beaching of over 150 melon-headed whales on Japan’s shores has fueled fears of a repeat of a seemingly unrelated event in the country — the devastating 2011 undersea earthquake that killed over 18,000 people.

The 2011 Japan earthquake is not the only instance of beached whales closely preceding a massive tremor.

More than 100 pilot whales died in a mass stranding on a remote New Zealand beach on Feb. 20, 2011, two days before a large quake struck the country’s second-largest city, Christchurch.

BACKGROUND:
Radiotherapy for breast cancer often involves some incidental exposure of the heart to ionizing radiation. The effect of this exposure on the subsequent risk of ischemic heart disease is uncertain.
      METHODS:
We conducted a population-based case-control study of major coronary events (i.e., myocardial infarction, coronary revascularization, or death from ischemic heart disease) in 2168 women who underwent radiotherapy for breast cancer between 1958 and 2001 in Sweden and Denmark; the study included 963 women with major coronary events and 1205 controls. Individual patient information was obtained from hospital records. For each woman, the mean radiation doses to the whole heart and to the left anterior descending coronary artery were estimated from her radiotherapy chart.

INSIGHTS into the WORLD / Govt should heighten role in science push

    April 13, 2015
By Takashi Shiraishi / Special to The Yomiuri Shimbun

Discussions are taking place at the Council for Science, Technology and Innovation (CSTI), chaired by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, on the formulation of the fifth Science and Technology Basic Plan.

The CSTI is responsible for overseeing Japan’s entire science, technology and innovation policy and coordinating the policy initiatives and approaches of individual ministries. Every five years, it formulates a Science and Technology Basic Plan that serves as the basic guideline for policy initiatives. The current fourth plan covers the period through fiscal 2015. …

To better understand why government commitment is important, let us look at what is happening to the field of nuclear engineering in Japan.

The national consensus over the future of nuclear power generation has been lost since the crisis that began in 2011 at the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant of Tokyo Electric Power Co.

The government remains ambivalent on this issue, pledging to reduce the dependence on nuclear power for Japan’s energy supply while stating that it will continue to rely on nuclear power plants in tandem with thermal and coal-burning power plants as so-called “base load power sources.” …

The government’s failure to specify the precise mix of energy sources does not bode well for the future of nuclear power generation.

It is not hard to understand why many bright young students are now leery of entering graduate schools to major in nuclear engineering and beginning careers as nuclear power engineers and researchers.

Without people working in the field of nuclear power engineering, whatever nuclear power policy the government eventually adopts will come to nothing.

The key to national strategic core technology is the role of the state in specifying core areas of science and technology to be strategically promoted and in building a robust national system of research and development based on national R&D agencies.

Only when the state’s firm, long-term commitment is demonstrated will talented young researchers enter areas of science and technology that are of great importance to the nation’s security and competitiveness.

A government think tank has identified 165 candidate themes for the promotion of national strategic core technology, including artificial intelligence, next-generation aeronautical technology, advanced laser technology and technology for reducing the volume and toxicity of high-level radioactive waste. The government must determine how large official investments will be for each area. The government should not try to choose which specific themes to fund or not. …

Utah stepping closer to taking 250,000 tons of radioactive waste — forever

By BRIAN MAFFLY | The Salt Lake Tribune
    Apr 12 2015

Clive, Utah — The barrels look harmless enough.

Tucked away in a sterile metal shed in the middle of Utah's West Desert, the 55-gallon plastic drums show no hint of what lies beneath the metal lids — radioactive waste that will only get hotter over time.

EnergySolutions executives hope the 5,400 containers eventually will become a waste stream that could sustain the company for years — approximately 250,000 metric tons of depleted uranium in all.

The waste-management company has prepared a burial ground for the stuff — a vast pit, 10 feet deep, where tens of thousands of the drums would be lined up and covered in concrete, clay and rocks.

    Forever.

Or at least as far into the future as humans can plan.

Now, state hazardous-waste managers have to sign off on the idea.

EnergySolutions' proposal to allow the U.S. Department of Energy to send up to half its depleted uranium to a Tooele County landfill 80 miles west of Salt Lake City is nearing final approval.

On Monday, the Utah Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) will release an evaluation of the company's ability to keep the uranium safe. At the same time, DEQ wants to hear Utahns' thoughts about the plan. Public hearings are scheduled in early May.

waste — just one legacy of the nation's nuclear bomb-making binge — have defied permanent disposal because of concerns about long-term risks. When you're projecting thousands of years of radioactivity, no one is 100 percent sure what that means for Earth's inhabitants.

"It's a sticky, complicated issue. There is a lot of fear surrounding it," said DEQ Executive Director Amanda Smith during a recent visit with The Salt Lake Tribune editorial board.

But EnergySolutions Marketing Vice President Mark Walker says the company simply is fixing a problem all Americans helped create.

"As a country, we generated this," Walker said. "We all benefited from nuclear science, whether it's through medical research or cancer treatments, energy [or defense].

"The nuclear bomb was developed to protect our country," he added. "To responsibly manage it limits the risk for everybody."

Whether the company's plan is responsible is a point of debate.

Dread and buried » Depleted uranium, or DU, is considered a low-level hazard today, but it becomes progressively more radioactive over thousands of years, posing an environmental hazard deep into the future, long after the civilization that produced the waste disappears.

Right now, the waste — 750,000 metric tons — is being stored at three U.S. Department of Energy sites, in South Carolina, Kentucky and Ohio.

Public should remember cost to Tularosa families

As the Trinity Site opens to tourists on the 70th anniversary of testing the atomic bomb, I hope tourists, lawmakers and politicians remember the families still living in the Tularosa area who continue to battle the negative effects of the testing that occurred near Tularosa seven decades ago.

While reading a New York Times article, little was mentioned about the Tularosa Basin Downwinders. They were referred to as a small group of local protesters "claiming they are living with, and dying from, the health effects of the tests decades later." (http://nyti.ms/1C8qA9K)

This is my plea. I beg New Mexicans to stand by this small group of local protesters. The Tularosa Basin Downwinders fight to bring justice to the many Tularosa residents who suffer from a slew of health issues such as lymphoma, to many forms of cancer.

The federal government established the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act as a form of compensation for families, but cleanup efforts and options are limited. It is going to take a lot more than a small group of local protesters to bring the proper attention to such a serious health issue.

I would like to thank the local media for bringing much needed attention to the people of Tularosa, specifically the people of Tularosa …

This is consistent with previously reported data (Yablokov 2009b). Restrictive ventilatory impairment in children could be caused by decreased pulmonary surfactant, reduced lung growth for age, chronic obstruction, or fibrotic changes. Changes in the fatty acid composition of pulmonary surfactant after chronic radiation exposure have been reported (Kolpakov 1999; Parkhomenko et al. 2008). Such changes in pulmonary surfactant could lead to restrictive ventilatory impairment. Survivors of child- hood cancer who received radiation therapy have been reported to develop significant pulmonary problems, including lung fibro- sis (Abid et al. 2001; Mertens et al. 2002). Radiation-induced pulmonary fibrosis will typically produce restrictive ventilatory impair- ment. Thus, the 2.60 times greater likelihood of restrictive ventilatory impairment observed in this study is plausible in light of the current medical liiterature."

"The ischemic cascade unfurls when people have strokes, heart attacks, respiratory arrests, and other medical emergencies that limit the supply of oxygen to the brain. Neurologists have studied the process extensively to learn how it happens and what is involved in each stage, with the goal of potentially developing treatments to arrest the cascade. Researchers believe that halting the series of chemical reactions involved could derail the ischemic cascade, limiting damage to the neurons in the brain and reducing the risk that strokes and other events will have long-term consequences."

50 Years Later, The Tragedy of Nuclear Tests in Nevada
    by Norman Solomon

… ''There is no danger'' …

"Fallout on Las Vegas and vicinity following this morning's detonation was very low and without any effects on health," …

It was a popular theme among prominent commentators like syndicated columnist David Lawrence, whose wisdom appeared in the Washington Post and other leading newspapers. "The truth is," he wrote in spring 1955, "there isn't the slightest proof of any kind that the 'fallout' as a result of tests in Nevada has ever affected any human being anywhere outside the testing ground itself."

By then, children and others living in downwind areas were beginning to develop leukemia. As time passed, people in affected areas suffered extraordinarily high rates of cancer and thyroid ills. Functioning in tandem, the news media and the federal government continued to deny that nuclear testing was a health hazard.

In August 1980, nearly three decades after the Nevada site opened for nuclear business, the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations concluded: "All evidence suggesting that radiation was having harmful effects, be it on the sheep or the people, was not only disregarded but actually suppressed."

That assessment was no surprise to thousands of downwind residents like Jay Truman, who grew up in southwestern Utah under the shadow of the test…

When I met Truman in 1980, he was already an expert on nuclear testing. Today, as director of the Downwinders organization (www.downwinders.org), he's still fighting the good fight.

From the Rockies to remote Russian sites, nuclear industries have taken an enormous toll. Victims include Native American uranium miners, nuclear-plant workers and far-flung residents, soldiers exposed to atomic bomb tests at close range, Pacific islanders, and people whose lives were forever changed during a few split seconds in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. …

Unable to admit the inevitable health effects of nuclear tests, "all governments of all testing nations learned how to — and perfected being able to — lie to their own citizens."

Fifty years after the first mushroom cloud overshadowed the Nevada desert, military contractors and their allies are eager to spread the news about the latest technologies offering "an added angle of safety." http://www.cnn.com/2014/02/04/health/who-world-cancer-report/

The real perspective is if you take 7.5 billion divided by our U.S. population of 317 million = 23.66 x's

23.66 x 587,000 people (U.S. cancer death rate) = 13,888,520 cancer deaths world wide per year x let's say and average lifetime of someone (baby) born today of 80 years.

80 years x 13,888,250 yearly cancer deaths = 1,111,060,000 (billion) worldwide cancer deaths in his 80 year lifetime.

Now if the 70% projected cancer increase happens 1,111,060,000 X 70% = +777,742,000 additional cancer deaths = 1,888,802,000 or almost 2 billion cancer deaths in this one person's lifetime while living on this planet.

It's important to add that Dr. John Gofman estimated 32,000 Cancer DEATHS every year from around 20 nuclear power plants.

Using his numbers, and multiplying them by the 435 operating nuclear power plants around the world,

that adds up to 696,000 cancer DEATHS EVERY YEAR from nuclear energy.

            That is monumental.

My gut says he is very light on his numbers, since all processes of the entire Nuclear Chain have to be taken into consideration. Where ever the waste, mining tailings, airborne/water releases are found within all the areas of the world you will find high cancer rates. I feel about 80% of the cancer rates world wide can be attributed to this Nuclear Chain and now heavy ball hanging around all ours and our kid's necks.

Then one has to take into account the recycling of Nuclear laced Materials in all our manufactured goods. The damage being done now worldwide is insidious! :(

Odorless, tasteless and invisible and now lurking everywhere while always trying to get into your home right through your front door! :(

Global nuclear industry experiencing a "renaissance" as radioactive waste fills the Pacific Ocean

Sunday, April 12, 2015 by: David Gutierrez, staff writer

(NaturalNews) Even as radioactive waste from the Fukushima nuclear disaster continues to pour into the Pacific Ocean, the world's nuclear industry is undergoing a different kind of explosion.

"Right now, the nuclear renaissance is happening, and it's happening in East Asia," said Geoffrey Rothwell, an economist at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. …

    http://news.yahoo.com/japan-hopes-resume-whale-hunt-despite-opposition-expert-131042278.html

Why don't the Japanese just research WHY these other whales died? No need to hunt these creatures EVER anymore.

Wake up world…Japan kill's whales AND poisons the Pacific ocean at the same time. You can't have both…anymore.

"Japan plans to restart its scientific whaling program next year, despite an IWC resolution imposing stricter regulations."

    http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2014/09/140918-japan-scientific-whale-hunt-animals-ocean-science/

So why all the fuss over the beached whales/dolphins?

    Maybe…..

    …just maybe….

…the world's public will start getting wind of Japan's attempts to KILL more whales at the same time the beachings come to light…then others will question the need for resumed whale killing.

Fukushima, as always, will remain in the background. Still, it's a start.

Nick – Much as I dislike Japanese whale hunting, it is still a somewhat good sign for the Pacific ecosystem (certainly not for whales but marine life in general). When the Japanese voluntarily give up whale hunting because there are very few whales to hunt, then we should be nervous. There is also the possibility that a Japanese whale hunt is part of a larger cover story.

Can't remember where I read it, maybe a link here, that a whale hunting expedition from Japan returned for the first time having not killed a single whale. Bad sign of the times maybe?
