Debbie was born and raised in Edmonton. In early 2014, she moved to High Level to take a position as a provisional psychologist. She quickly grew to love the community and has a deep respect for the diversity and drive of the amazing people there. Debbie is an active community volunteer with Chinchaga Adult Learning, High Level Theatre Troupe, and the High Level Victim Services Unit.
Debbie has four adult children and four grandchildren. As a distance learner, Debbie earned her BA and MA through Athabasca University, where she was actively involved in the students’ association and sparked an interest in politics. Watching Athabasca University suffer under the PC cuts to post-secondary education was one of her motivations for running for office.
In the end, Debbie is running because she believes that Albertans deserve better. She will stand up for working– and middle-class families as the MLA for Peace River. Debbie is passionate about ensuring we protect and improve our health care, education and seniors care; end the big corporate tax breaks and get fair tax reforms; and will fight for fair value and more upgrading jobs from our resources.
