The Grand Slam Ranking
Points earned by countries and territories in the 5 Grand Slam pageants in the last 10 years are used to formulate the Grand Slam Ranking, which is now back.
For Peru, Miss World 2014 was a disaster: not able to recover a single point from its 2004 victory, now discarded, the South American country has dropped 29 positions, going from 20th to 49th place. South Africa, on the other hand, has entered the Top 10, in 10th place (up 16). The biggest mover, though, was Hungary: 50th to 32nd, up 18 notches. See how your country ranks and how it improved from its previous update!

BRAVO PHILIPPINES!!!
How come India is so down. India has won 5 Miss World. Next to Venezuela but Philippines just got their name on the Miss World books. Other than Miss World and Miss Universe pageant these newly found minor contest are ruining the leader board.
because the ranking made by GB is taken/based only from the last ten years of Miss World placements of participating countries.
Philippines, undisputed number 2 behind Venezuela..Go go go! Mabuhay!
how are the numbers derived? why does canada have more points in miss u than the philippines? in the past 10 years, it only placed once (2005) vs. the philippines 4peat and all runner ups.
Canada has a winner, which is worth 500 points.
Canada has had two winners, so would this mean that there is 1000 points?
Canada won Miss Universe, 500 X 2= 1000
GB, what about the runners-up equivalent points?
the computation of points is not transparent. how did you come up with your numbers? point allocation for placing / pageant?
It’s very clear and explained 😉
where is that explanation dear?
The points
The points are in GB’s website:
– The winning country in each pageant earns 500 points;
– The country placing 2nd earns 200 points;
– The country placing 3rd earns 150 points;
– The countries placing among finalists, earn 100 points each;
– The countries placing among semi-finalists, earn 30 points each;
– The countries placing among quarter-finalists earn 15 points each;
– Special awards are worth 1 point each.
Personally, I think the gap between the points for the winner and the others is too high. Two 1st runners up have fewer points than one winner. Another way of looking at it is 16 semi-finalist will not meet the points of one winner.
This Is just my opinion. The Grand Slam rankings is created by GB and they determine the rules. GB may have their reasons for having this point distribution.
On a separate note, does the change in the pageant composition and the points awarded (way back it was 20 for the winner, 19 for 1st runner up…) for the Grand Slam rankings alter the “Country of the Year” of the past years? There was a time you pores the top 3 countries for each year. Can you do that again? Make it the top 5 countries
