Israel’s Ireland embassy: Hitler would have liked the UN

Shouldn't the press investigate how come the Ambassador managed to have his own wife appointed as his Deputy??

Nurit Tinari-Modai reminds me of an account of a 1923 meeting between the then Irish-based reporter V. S. Pritchett and his London editor, which is found in Pritchett’s memoir Midnight Oil (1971). “When we got to coffee he came out with what had really disturbed him… I had written the notice… and sent a photograph of one of the pictures. He brought out the picture from his pocket… It was the back view of a savage-looking and naked, middle-aged tinker, with hairy legs, standing in a patch of bog, against a riotous sunrise… ‘He’s not even a young man,’ said Mr Bassellthorpe… I did my best to defend it in a stammering way. He said, unforgivingly: ‘This is what Ireland does to the mind.’”

comment is outrageous. Need I remind the embassy staff that Jesus himself was " Lynched" in Jerusalem and we all know by whom.

In the past I'm sure that bringing up Hitler and the holocaust every time anyone said or did anything construed to be against Israel was sufficiently effective to warrant its use., but that day is long past. Perhaps it's time to think up a new schtick.

Simon Deng, the refugee quoted, has now seen how Israel is treating refugees and has been quoted as telling Israel---this is no way to treat a friend! Do we only want to listen to Deng when he's supporting Israel?

"UN's peacekeeping efforts"? Are you joking? Since when has the UN done anything to maintain peace or challenge dictatorships. It's individual countries like the US and the UK that actually DO something about crazed dictators like Milosevic and Saddam.

Hitler perhaps would feel at home at the UN along side fellow Jew haters and despots.

Last year, the Deputy Ambassador to Ireland, who's also the wife of... the Ambassador, called publishing the pictures of Israeli expatriates who criticize Netanyahu's policies "with the hopes of local activists understanding that they might actually be working on behalf of the Mossad" (and possibly killed?) That this woman would still be part of the MFA is appalling.

There's a realproblem in that embassy. The ambassador appointed his own wife Deputy... Very mafia like.

In June 2012, Channel 10 published a letter in which the deputy head of mission in Ireland, Nurit Tinari-Modai, proposed that Israel fight efforts to delegitimize it by going after expatriate Israelis who are critical of the government in Jerusalem. In that letter, she also wrote that those Israelis dislike Israel partly because they are “sexually confused.” This kind og homophobic speech is disgusting and this person should have been fired.

Whether Hitler would or would not have liked the UN is highly subjective and Haaretz's opinion is no more or no less valid than the embassy in Ireland. However, the fact that anything that was detrimental to Jews brought him happiness is beyond dispute.

By posting something that old, they have neglected to read about Simon Deng, the Sudanese refugee, and his most recent criticism of Israel. At first he was supportive, but now that he has seen in person by visiting Israel how Israel treats Sudanese refugees (deports them instead of protecting them...) he is horrified: “That’s not what you do to a friend. And that’s why I am asking the government of Israel to do more, to do better than what they are doing now,” Deng told The Times of Israel.
