Graffiti Management Plan

The City of Toronto's Graffiti Management Plan seeks to support graffiti art and other street art that adds vibrancy and artistry to our streets while balancing the need to eliminate graffiti vandalism which can have a detrimental impact on property owners and neighbourhoods.

StreetARToronto or StART is a pro-active program that aims to develop, support, promote and increase awareness of street art and its indispensable role in adding beauty and character to neighbourhoods across Toronto, while counteracting graffiti vandalism and its harmful effect on communities.

StART Partnership Program

StART's Partnership Program provides funding of up to $40,000 for projects which support the programs mission to revitalize and engage communities through street and mural art.

RE StART 

StART's Restoration and Education Program was created in the belief that arts based education is a meaningful tool to engage, support and inspire (at-risk) youth and young adults. Funding of up to $20,000 is available for projects that meet RE StARTs objectives.

Outside the Box

This program is designed to use traffic light cabinet infrastructure as a city art endeavour and provides opportunities for artists to create works of art that contribute to the vitality and attractiveness of the streetscape.

StART UP's mission is to make our City's Underpasses safe, walkable and beautiful.

StART Support

StART Support's Mural Program assists private property owners experience graffiti vandalism problems.

Project Coordinator Opportunities

StART often hires external Project Coordinators to assist in implementation of project calls and installations.  Project Coordinators are not employees of the City of Toronto, but external contractors whose responsibilities might encompass the below tasks:  

• Acting as a liaison between the City and Artists on specific project calls;
• Assisting in distributing Calls to Artists and compiling questions and answers for distribution; 
• Administrative duties such as taking notes at meetings and community consultations, compiling databases of submissions, etc; 
• Other duties related to call preparation (taking site measurements, etc).

Project Coordinators work mainly off-site, are required to attend meetings during office hours and evenings and do not have access to City resources.
