Updated, 5:53 p.m. EDT: ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting what many feared as the worst-case scenario — that Dante Fowler Jr. suffered a season-ending knee injury at the minicamp practice on Friday.

The first day of the Jacksonville Jaguars rookie minicamp did not go well for first-round draft pick Dante Fowler Jr. The defensive end left early after sustaining a knee injury, according to Florida Times-Union reporter Hays Carlyon, who tweeted the news on Friday afternoon.
Fowler, who was picked third overall in the 2015 NFL Draft last week, was matched up against offensive tackle Watts Dantzler when something happened that caused Fowler to land awkwardly on his knee, according to reports. A fan in the stands posted a video of the incident on Twitter.
The status of Fowler’s injury is currently being evaluated, which will include an MRI, according to Jags General Manager David Caldwell.
In the meantime, Dantzler’s been dealing with a barrage of negativity directed at him via Twitter.
According to Dantzler, however, there are no hard feelings between him and Fowler.
“I went to apologize to him and he was like, ‘You’re good, man. It’s just football,’ ” Dantlzer said (via DiRocco).
