You can blame the writers for putting in such pretentious dialogue that it makes every character into forced preachers for less than imaginative writing.

It's scenes like this that make me want less fantasy in my comic books. I would have liked Beast just fine had he gone through an internal retrospective of his actions like any self-respecting scientist would. Instead he just comes off as a desperate child who didn't think ahead.

Oh, for the love of... I'm seriously getting sick of the Beast bashing Marvel's doing. So he didn't realize the results of his actions; he's not a freaking fortune-teller, and not all of the people that are that he had access to could've foreseen this, either. Second, he did it for a very good and logical reason, so you cannot fault him for trying. Finally, it's not his fault that they can't go back; from what I read in the wiki, he TRIED to send them back when they asked, but an outside and mysterious force prevented that. So I don't get any of this dogpiling of shit that everyone - both in-comic and in-fandom - is doing to him. Yeah, what he did was a bad thing in hindsight, but it's doubtful anyone with the power to foresee that would've warned him about it (Thanks, Uatu, for not interfering with something for once in your life. Thanks a fucking lot. Y'know, you could be held just as responsible for this as Hank is, for NOT warning him about this shit until AFTER he did it and AFTER his attempts to send them home failed), and he's not only beating HIMSELF up over it, but he's trying to MITIGATE THE DAMAGE AS BEST HE CAN. Give him some fucking props for that, at least, instead of treating him like the scum of the universe, jeez...

Oh, and one more thing; so an apocalyptic future awaits mutants because the original X-Men can't go back to their own time. GEE, I WONDER WHERE WE'VE HEARD THAT STORY BEFORE?! Seriously, count how many times the comic has focused on a POSITIVE future for mutantkind, and if the number is more than "fuck all", then I've got a bridge in Taiwan I'd like to rent you for $5.

So people are seriously complaining because McCoy is imperfect and made a mistake? He's responsible for his failure alright, but it's not like he's sitting on his hands and do nothing to repair the problem.

After traveling for decades, one trait I noticed that's internationally similar is that people want to worship a perfect figure, and when that person make a mistake the crowd condemns him to hell for breaking their illusion.

It's not just the fans of the comic that are complaining, it's the fact that he's being treated like shit for it in-comic by everyone and their mother; from random background characters to his own past self to freaking UATU THE WATCHER are condemning him for being a mutant-dooming fuck-up. Like you said, though, it's not like he's being indignant about his failure or refusing to try and mitigate it. It's pretty sickening that both people in-comic and in-fandom are treating this character like shit because of bad writing on the writer's part, and not anything of any logical reasoning.
