Woman attacked and killed by dog

MADISON TWP., Ohio (WDTN) – Butler County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home in Madison Township Monday where a family dog killed a woman.

The home is in the 4700 block of Eck Road. Deputies confirmed that Cindy Whisman, 59, was killed by her daughter’s pit bull.

Deputies said Whisman was in her backyard with her daughter, Julie’s two-year-old son when the dog attacked her.

An emotional neighbor made a 911 call to get help.

Another neighbor used a walking stick to hit the dog.

“He loved my son. He would never hurt my son. They played together– my son would sit on him, lay on him. Smack him in the face. He wouldn’t do anything,” said Julie Whisman.

She said she has owned five-year-old pitbull named Polo, since he was six weeks old.

Butler County dog wardens removed the pitbull, and another dog– a German Shepard-Lab mix.

No word yet on what will happen to either animal.
