Our events for postdoctoral researchers will help you bridge the gap between research training and an independent research career. A key element of all these events is the chance to build links with the Fellows of the Academy.
Skills workshops
These workshops are an excellent opportunity to delve deeply into the practical skills which are essential for successful research careers. Expert facilitators work with small groups to explore, for example:
- Effective communication and presentations.
- HR and people management.
- Time management.
Fellows' discussion dinners
The Academy hosts a variety of events where biomedical researchers can network with Academy Fellows. Our discussion dinners include an evening drinks reception followed by a research talk, discussion and three course dinner. They are held at the Academy of Medical Sciences headquarters at 41 Portland Place, London W1B 1QH.
These dinners are for Academy Fellows and their guests. On a trial basis, we are offering a small number of FREE places at each dinner for postdoctoral biomedical researchers. See our events listing for forthcoming dinners.
Supper Clubs
Supper Clubs bring together Academy Fellows and biomedical researchers working in a particular area of research for an informal and engaging discussion. Supper Clubs are held across the UK and are hosted by one or two Academy Fellows.
Supper Clubs are by invitation only.
