Golf in Fiji will farewell Adi Sai

Golfers in Fiji will pay tribute to Adi Sainimili Tuivanuavou when she is laid to rest this Friday, 30 November, 2012

Adi Sai, as she was known in the golfing fraternity, passed away in the USA recently where she had been living for several years.....

Adi Sai's golfing association goes back to the early 1970s when she began her golf at the Nausori Golf Club.  She was the Lady Captain at Nausori from 1972-1975 and winner of the Club Championships for many years.  During the late 1990s AdiSai was the Lady Captain at the Fiji Golf Club before being elected as President of the Fiji Women's Golf Assocaition (as it was then known) from 2003-2007.

Her golfing achievements speak volumes for the great golfer she was:

Fiji Golf Club Ladies Champion (winning this title more than any other member)
1979 – 1981, 1982, 1983, 1985, 1989, 1991, 1997

Fiji Ladies Golf Champion (Winner of this event more than any other person)
1983 – 1087 – 1988 – 1993 – 1995

Represented Fiji at 3 South Pacific Mini Games:
1989 - Tonga: Bronze in Teams event and was Fiji’s flagbearer at the Opening Ceremony

1993 – Vanuatu: Silver teams event

1997 – American Samoa: Gold in Teams event

 

Represented Fiji at 3 South Pacific Games:

1979 – in Fiji

1983 – Samoa

1987 – Noumea

Won Bronze in the Teams event in each of the 3 Games

 

Represented Fiji at the World Amateur Espirito Championships

1978 – when Fiji hosted the event at Pacific Harbour and again in

1990 – in Christchurch, New Zealand

 

Moce mada Adi Sai, rest in peace.
