Remember when hardcore Swedes Refused played their “last” L.A. show at The Fonda in 2012? Thankfully, Dennis Lyxzén rejected this notion and they are back with a brand new album Freedom due out June 30th on Epitaph.
Of course, The Roxy was slam packed as the band went immediately into high gear with a brand new song “Elektra.” The energy in the room was palpable as fans chanted “Rather be alive” during “Rather Be Dead.” Lyxzén also indulged in a bit of crowd surfing himself. Craziness ensued as new songs “Françafrique” and “Dawkins Christ” were played. Welcome back Refused.
Canadian punk band White Lung played a short set of their loud and intense tunes, including their catchy song “Face Down.” Lead singer Mish Way delivered her searing vocals as guitarist Kenneth William and drummer Anne-Marie Vassiliou played at breakneck speed. Now on tour with them is Lindsey Troy of Deap Vally.
Now residing in LA by way of France and The Netherlands, married couple Steve and Sam Sinner Sinners and brought their own brand of punk. Lead singer/guitarist Steve brought some of the show off-stage. Keyboardist Sam took on vocals for their infectious song “Darkness Forever.”
