Two new faces on the ECU Executive Council

After the General Council meeting in Zürich, we have now two new faces on the ECU Executive Committee. Richard Brown from the UK, who is the present President of the British Chiropractic Association, was elected ECU secretary. The runner up for the secretary position Francine Denis from Spain was appointed 2nd Vice-President since this position was made vacant after Franz Schmid from Switzerland left the 2nd Vice-President position and was elected 1st Vice-President. I have been following ECU matters for nearly 30 years, and I can´t recall any female representation to the ECU Executive Committee. If this is correct, I must say that it was about time.

The ECU Convention -where European chiropractors meet.

I always enjoy attending the ECU Conventions. It is the meeting where European chiropractors connect with old friends and classmates. The quality of the academic program is getting better every year, and this year’s convention in Zürich was no exception. Nearly 500 people attended and made this event a big success. The Zürich convention was my first convention as the ECU President. It gave me an opportunity to meet with many important people in our profession. I will give you a short insight into my meeting schedule during the convention.

Chiropractic at the crossroads?

I have said before that chiropractic needs not only strong leadership, but more importantly brave leadership. Let me introduce to you one such person, Dr. John W. Reggars from Australia. In an article named “Chiropractic at the crossroads or are we just going around in circles” published in Chiropractic & Manual Therapies, he addresses much of the nonsense that is going on in the chiropractic profession.
