Found bypasses Oaks
and Derby for Ascot

FOUND will not be part of Aidan O'Brien's team for the Investec Derby or Oaks this week and will head straight to Royal Ascot.

Found had been between 3-1 favourite and 7-1 for the Investec Oaks after her second in the Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas last month and had also been under consideration for the Investec Derby, with O'Brien's challenge lacking strength in depth this season.

She will be joined in missing the Derby meeting by Gleneagles, the dual 2,000 Guineas winner, who will go to Royal Ascot for the St James's Palace Stakes. There had been some talk he could run in the Derby for which he was a 5-1 chance.

O'Brien will rely on MBNA Chester Vase winner Hans Holbein, Giovanni Canaletto, who finished second in the Airlie Stud Gallinule Stakes and is a brother to Derby winner Ruler Of The World, and Betfred Lingfield Derby Trial winner Kilimanjaro in the Derby.

In the Oaks, O'Brien is set to saddle Together Forever, Diamondsandrubies and Qualify, while Wedding Vow is also in the mix for the race.

A maximum of 15 horses will go to post for the Derby after Success Days and Golden Horn were supplemented for £75,000 each. Great Glen, Gleneagles and Prince Gagarin were the only horses not confirmed for the race and Sumbal was not supplemented.

The news that Found will miss the Oaks has resulted in Legatissimo, Crystal Zvezda and Jack Naylor all being cut for the race, while Golden Horn sits as a solid favourite at the head of the Derby market.

The strongest horse in the betting since the declarations is Giovanni Canaletto, who has been supported into 12-1 (from 16) with William Hill.

"Punters have been snatching up the big odds on Giovanni Canaletto and he is attracting the each-way bets," said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke. "Just over a month ago Aidan O'Brien had the top four in this year's Derby betting, now he hasn't got a contender at single figure odds."

In the Group 1 Investec Coronation Cup, seven horses have been confirmed headed by favourite Dolniya. Secret Gesture and Arab Spring have not been left in the contest.

Green Door and Long Awaited, both 14-1 shots for the Investec Dash handicap at Epsom on Saturday, do not feature among the latest confirmations for the race.
