CAL Inaugurates Osaka to Los Angeles Cargo Service

August 26, 2009, Taipei, Taiwan – China Airlines will launch a new cargo service from Taipei to Osaka and onward to Los Angeles on August 27. The new cargo flight marks a historic step for CAL, and will provide more convenient cargo service between Taiwan, Japan and the U.S.

The new service will operate three weekly scheduled cargo flights, on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. A Boeing 747-400F freighter will be used on the routes, and the maiden cargo flight to Osaka and LAX, CI-5128, will depart from Taoyuan International Airport at 05:30 a.m. on Aug. 27, and arrive at Kansai International Airport in Osaka at 09:00 a.m. It will deliver a 90-ton payload of electrical products, express mail and postal goods. The onward flight to LAX will depart at 11:00 a.m. and arrive in LAX at 06:00 a.m. on Aug. 27, carrying a full load of about 100 tons of goods.

China Airlines currently operates 21 B747-400F freighters, the largest B747-400F fleet in the world. According to IATA statistics, CAL is ranked 6th in the world in terms of international air cargo traffic carried, and it has earned the trust of its cargo customers by establishing a sterling reputation for prompt and reliable service.
