Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga Nominated for Worst Film Performances at Razzies
With award season kicking into gear, stars across all entertainment mediums are garnering praise and accolades for their performances in the past year.
Add Lady Gaga and Selena Gomez to the mix, though their awards aren't exactly admirable.
Today (Jan. 15), the nominations for the 2014 Razzies, the awards recognizing the worst in film, were revealed, with two pop stars gracing its nods for their acting performances in 2013.
Gomez, the former Disney Channel actress, secured a film role in last year's action flick "Getaway," starring Ethan Hawke and Jon Voight. The film was panned, receiving an approval rating of 2 percent at Rotten Tomatoes, and earned Gomez, the female lead, a Razzie nomination for Worst Actress. She'll go up against Halle Berry, Lindsay Lohan, Naomi Watts and, humorously, Tyler Perry.
Meanwhile, Gaga made a supporting appearance in "Machete Kills," Robert Rodriguez's action-comedy continuing the storyline of Danny Trejo's Machete character. The pop singer appears in a small role as one of the forms of a shapeshifting assassin, a performance that garnered her a nod for Worst Supporting Actress, along with Salma Hayek, Katherine Heigl, Kim Kardashian and, again, Lindsay Lohan.
The winners of the Golden Raspberries will be announced in Hollywood on March 1, on the eve of the Academy Awards.
