Alex Fontana will partner Jarno Trulli at the London ePrix in Battersea Park this weekend, Motorsport.com can exclusively reveal.
The 22-year old Swiss currently races in GP3 for Status Grand Prix and has done a one-off deal to race in the No.18 Trulli Spark-Renault.
Official confirmation from the team is expected later today.
Fontana will replace Vitantonio Liuzzi, who is unavailable for the London ePrix due to Asian GT commitments at Okayama in Japan.
The Trulli team, which partners up with the Italian industrial and electrical technology specialist – Motomatica for a season two technical package, is expecting to track-test the new rear-end for the first time next month.
The new powertrain and electronics are expected to be homologated shortly after.
