NASA’s Low-Density Supersonic Decelerator project aims to test technique for atmospheric entry on which planet?
[A]Jupiter
[B]Mars
[C]Venus
[D]Mercury

Mars
The Low-Density Supersonic Decelerator or LDSD is a re-entry vehicle designed to test techniques for atmospheric entry on Mars. The disc-shaped LDSD uses an inflatable structure called the Supersonic Inflatable Aerodynamic Decelerator (SIAD), which is essentially an donut-shaped balloon, to create atmospheric drag in order to decelerate the vehicle before deploying a large supersonic parachute. The goal of the project is to develop a re-entry system capable of landing 2- to 3-ton payloads on Mars, as opposed to the 1-ton limit of the currently used systems.

Which is the most common chemical used in cloud seeding?
[A]Potassium bromide
[B]Silver iodide
[C]Potassium chloride
[D]Magnesium iodide

Silver iodide
The most common chemicals used for cloud seeding include silver iodide, potassium iodide and dry ice (solid carbon dioxide). Cloud seeding process involved a furnace in which coal is burnt at 1,350 degrees Celsius in which powdered Silver Iodide is sprinkled. These particles rise in the air to cloud level in 10-12 minutes. After these particles travel upwards, they crystallize at minus-five degrees and since clouds have both ice and water crystals, the particles attract the water, its weight increases and they fall down in the form of rain within a couple of hours.

With which country India has signed an agreement to jointly develop protective suits for chemical and biological warfare?
[A]Russia
[B]US
[C]Italy
[D]Japan

US
India and USA signed an agreement to jointly develop protective suits for soldiers. Both sides also finalised two project agreements for hi-tech mobile power source.

Which of the following causes Ground Level Ozone?
[A]Carbon monoxide
[B]Oxides of nitrogen
[C]Sulphur dioxide
[D]Carbon dioxide

Oxides of nitrogen
Ground level ozone is created by chemical reactions between oxides of nitrogen (Nox) and volatile organic compounds (VOC) in the presence of sunlight. Emissions from industrial facilities and electric utilities, motor vehicle exhaust, gasoline vapors, and chemical solvents are some of the major sources of Nox and VOC. Breathing ozone can trigger a variety of health problems, particularly for children, the elderly, and people of all ages who have lung diseases such as asthma. Ground level ozone can also have harmful effects on sensitive vegetation and ecosystems.

Diesel Exhaust Fluid is an aqueous solution of ____?
[A]Urea
[B]Nitrogen
[C]Carbon
[D]Hydrogen

Urea
Diesel Exhaust Fluid is an aqueous solution of Urea. Diesel Exhaust Fluid is used in transportation to reduce the amount of nitrogen oxides (Nox) emitted into the air by diesel engines. DEF is a high purity chemical, comprised of 32.5% urea and 67.5% de-ionized water. Reference
