High-Quality Assessments

The Council of Chief State School Officers has released a framework that states can use to ensure every student is taking assessments that are necessary, of high quality and provide meaningful information.

The Comprehensive Statewide Assessment Systems: A Framework for the Role of the State Education Agency in Improving Quality and Reducing Burden builds upon principles that CCSSO and the Council of the Great City Schools announced in October 2014 to guide state and district leaders in making sure every assessment administered is high quality, and to reduce unnecessary tests. Today, at least 39 states are addressing the need to reduce unnecessary tests.
