The final week of the Northern Panthers Handball Association Junior Championship concluded last night with the crowning of the champion team the North Brisbane Panther Cubs. It was another successful year for the reigning premiers, well led by Alex Lynch, Oliver Shann and Simon O'Dwyer Mazur. The youth players Jackson Langenberg, Jenson Cook, Norwegian Sam Magnussen & German Matthias Zoll all played well.
They were pressed hard by the Brisbane City United team all year with experienced Chris Duffy, Hamish Langenberg & Didier Fournier. Thier youth players Adam Gillespie, Didier Fournier, Alex Hegner, Luciano Sarri & Sean Thompson showed that they will be a force in years to come.
Runners up in 2014, the South Brisbane Jesters were third, with Isaac Kambouris & Scott Bethune stand outs. Hamish Carruthers, Rory Jackson & Damien Venner all played well.
This season saw he first all female team entered, as the Pink Panther Cubs well lead by Heather Cooper and Mille Loftus, fought hard against the all boy competition winning one game. Under 16 players Gwen Gillespie, Remy Jackson, Bridget & Lexi Free, Abby & Annabel Mills, Mia Sarri and Gemma Nyssen showed that they will be strong in coming seasons and for Queensland at the Nationals. The Under 14 girls, Sabine Fournier, Mollie Cook, Finn & Elisabeth Gillespie all played well.
Top scorer for the boys was Hamish Langenberg with an impressive 50 goals, followed by his brother Jackson on 42 and Oliver Shann on 37 goals. For the girls, Annabel Mills won out with 19, followed by Mille Loftus on 12 and Lexi Free on 9 goals.
