Get involved

Volunteering is one of the many ways interested parents can get involved at Binghamton University.

Parent Admissions Volunteers

Personal Outreach

Parent Volunteers are needed to promote Binghamton University and to write emails or make congratulatory calls to admitted students. Through these one-on-one outreach efforts, you can share your own student's positive experience at Binghamton and further encourage admitted students to send in their deposits and attend.

Prospective and Admitted Student Reception Host

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions invites admitted students to attend information sessions held in spring in metro New York and other locations. You can help admissions staff with registration, greet people, talk informally about the University and, on occasion, present brief testimonials and participate in question-and-answer sessions. Contact Andrew Morris, associate director, for more information.

Career Development Volunteers

Hire a Binghamton Student

Because your student is at Binghamton University, you understand the quality of our students. Encourage your employer to use our eRecruiting service to post internships, summer jobs, and permanent opportunities and to consider attending our job fairs. More information is on the Employer section of CDC's website.

Share Your Expertise

Love your career field? Let others know about it! Being a presenter through CDC's programs can offer BU students the opportunity to learn from professionals such as you. If you are interested in exploring these kinds of opportunities, contact Nancy Paul, director, at npaul@binghamton.edu.

Participate in NYC Employer Visits

CDC facilitates student visits to various work sites during winter break for career exploration and networking. This provides organizations a vehicle to develop a relationship with the University, meet interested students, and showcase career opportunities. Encourage your employer to participate and gain visibility. For more information, contact Bill McCarthy, associate director, at bmccarth@binghamton.edu.

Become an Alumni Career Network Volunteer

Many Binghamton parents are also Binghamton alumni. The Alumni Career Network is an online means of connecting professionals like yourself with students or other alumni interested in your field. Alumni parents can volunteer for the Alumni Career Network by visiting Binghamton University Alumni Association's Online Community to update your profile. While there, click on "Alumni Career Network Home" and sign up.
