Office of Strategic Research Initiatives

The Office of Strategic Research Initiatives provides advice and support to the Vice President for Research to enable the successful implementation and execution of the campus research strategy and initiatives as developed and defined by the faculty, senior administration and the campus strategic road map. The office collaborates with faculty and staff to support and grow the University's research portfolio and to implement strategies to support the institution's research infrastructure. The office works with faculty teams to coordinate large multidisciplinary research proposals and to position university programs and collaborative efforts for successful funding.

The office also provides oversight for the Organized Research Centers/Institutes for Advanced Study, and coordinates the annual Interdisciplinary Grants Program and Chancellor's Awards for Excellence in Scholarship and Research. The office also supports the Transdisciplinary Areas of Excellence and the SUNY Networks of Excellence as well as assisting with the internal review and nomination processes for limited funding opportunities.
