Depp and Graham spent the next three hours...
Pirates of the Caribbean star, Johnny Depp made another of his most important appearances on Tuesday, while taking a break from filming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales in Queensland, Australia. He arrived as none other than the famous Captain Jack Sparrow with his co-star Stephen Graham dressed as Scrum, to the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital.
Seven-year-old Max Bennett had the fortune of spending a few moments face to face with Depp, who gave him gold coins imprinted with pirate heads. Max has transverse myelitis, a rare neurological disorder that causes inflammation of the spinal cord.
Max’s mother, Rachel, told Australia’s ABC News Depp was, “going from room to room seeing all the kids who couldn’t get out of bed. We waited out of the front of one of the rooms, and he came up to us and had a really good chat to Max.”
Depp handed out gold coins to the rest of the children he visited, giving them each a small share of the captain’s treasure. Rachel added,
Everyone kept on trying to move [Depp] on, but he kept on coming back. He came on the condition that he wasn’t pushed along and crowded by adults and he could spend as much time as he wanted with the kids.
Depp and Graham spent the next three hours visiting children in their hospital beds and taking group selfies with excited fans – a display of kindness they’ll likely never forget.
