Tanvi Azmi, who plays Ranveer Singh’s (Bajirao’s) mother in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani, has gone bald for her part in the film. She has a strong as well as emotional character, which is very instrumental in Bajirao’s life.

As Azmi says, “I play a role displaying a lot of strength and emotions, an exciting part. Yes, I have gone bald for the film. From the beginning of the film, I knew I had to go bald someday soon, but I never thought it would be so immediate. I had initially thought I would shave off my head in April, but we were doing an exciting scene and I just decided to go bald that time. It was completely impromptu. I got good response as well for that.”

Though she confirmed that she has gone bald for the film, she didn’t confirm if this look will continue through the entire film or just a few portions. The shoot of the
sequences that require Azmi has not yet begun, but a few bits of her part have been shot.

There has been a strong buzz about Azmi being a part of All Is Well as well, but now Supriya Pathak has bagged the role. Azmi clarifies, “Yes, I was approached for All Is Well
but due to overlapping dates and my bald look, I couldn’t take it up. It was a great role, but other things will come in future I guess.”

With both Ranveer and her reel mother going bald in the film, it suggests that there might by some exciting sequence leading to it. Bajirao Mastani releases on December 25, 2015.
