Transport for Wedding Guests
If the location of the wedding is inaccessible, or if parking is limited, transport for the wedding guests may be required. This is a budgetary consideration that should not be overlooked.
The most usual option is a coach, minibus or several people-carriers, depending on the number of guests. Ex-public buses are also popular.
Guests can be collected from a specific location - such as a hotel or station - and taken to the ceremony, reception and then back again at the end of the day or evening.
If parking is limited at the church/ceremony venue or reception then the guests may also need to be transported between the ceremony and the reception.
If transport is provided, then arrangements should be explained to guests in the extra information sheet that is enclosed with the wedding invitation. An usher or two should be given the task or overseeing the transport arrangements on the day.
Alternatively, guests can be supplied with local taxi firm numbers (this may not be efficient in very rural areas where services are limited).
Post-ceremony transport is not always essential: if the reception venue is nearby, it is fine for the wedding party to proceed on foot.
Remember, there must be enough room for coaches to turn around, and gate widths must be checked for large vehicles. If double-decker buses are being used, be aware of the hazard of low hanging trees.
