Jay Osgerby, OBE and Edward Barber, OBE

DIRECTORS, BARBER OSGERBY

Jay Osgerby and Edward Barber are the designers of the iconic London 2012 Olympic Torch, which was named the Design Museum’s Design of the Year in 2012. The two highly acclaimed designers founded their industrial design studio Barber Osgerby in 1996 after graduating with Master’s degrees in Architecture from the Royal College of Art. They are both Royal Designers for Industry and their portfolio is highly multidisciplinary, spanning lighting, product design, art, furniture and architecture. They are also past recipients of the Jerwood Applied Arts Prize and in 2007 were commissioned to design the entrance foyer desk for the Royal Institute of British Architects. Barber and Osgerby are also founders of Universal Design Studio in London, an industrial design consultancy focusing on design strategy. They were both appointed Officers of the Order of the British Empire in 2013 for services to the design industry.
