William Hill Winter Festival

26.12.15 - 27.12.15
Kempton Park

Seen as the mid-season championship for top chasers, the William Hill King George VI Chase is one of the most historic races in the jumps calendar. It is the centrepiece of a programme of top-class jump racing at Kempton Park.

The George VI is run over a flat three miles, with 18 fences to be jumped, so the emphasis on speed as well as stamina. It was first run in 1937, in honour of the new king, but the race had to be suspended during the Second World War as Kempton racecourse was used as a prisoner-of-war camp.

The second day of the Festival stars two Group 2 races and a number of competitive handicaps. Punters will enjoy assessing the form and looking forward to the rest of the National Hunt season.

2015 dates are provisional.
